I just realized one day that if a real life person told me the things I told myself, I would be so mad at them (I probably wouldn't even speak to them again, even if the things were true)!  I realized I didn't have to put up with that.

I'm glad to hear of others who feel the same way.

you are so right. if anyone spoke to me the way i internally spoke to myself, i'd punch them in the face.

what do you think makes one more susceptible to anxiety, depression, self-hatred and the like..? or do you think everyone has these feelings, but some are just sooo much better at hiding it than others..?

*sigh*

it's just one of those days..

haha..wow..i knew this was going to spur some discussion and i was not disapointed.

as far as my formatting (or lack thereof, as it may be) of the original post:  I am oh so very sorry I did not feel the need to fix my formatting of the original article and profusely apologize for any personal offense I inflicted on anyone due to the lack of paragraphing.

...get over yourselves fellow CC'ers. i agree with a lot of others who've stated on here how savage and ruthless some of y'all regulars can be.

Furthermore: do not let an extension of bushism take over! let 01/20/09 truly be the END of the frat boy monkey reign.

i shall repeat: GO OBAMA!!

I haven't checked out the sites, but It sounds like 2000 calories for sedentary is quite high. I am 5'6", a very active person (work out 6-7 days per week for about an hour and half) and my calorie intake for each day is around 2300.  What stats did you put in to get 2000/day?

my stats = female/5'1"/100 lbs./23 y.o./and i run 6-8 miles every day, incorporating ~an hour of power vinyasa yoga about 2 times per week. i guess i would be moderately/very active?

Does CC simply underestimate one's caloric burn..?

Me + Family = alright food

Me + alone = Good food.

UNLESS

Alone = loneliness = bad food choices

In which case: Me + Alone = BAD food. D:

so does the about.com calculator.

try adding a couple spinning classes a week, along with logging all of your food you're eating. the only way to really get to the bottom of your problem is to record all of your calories you're eating, as well as record any exercise you're doing - after that, it's simple math.

yoga is wonderful! which kinds have you been exploring? power vinyasa - baptiste style - is one of my favorites. bikram is super hardcore/cleansing/sweating - ashtanga is gentler and more spiritual and wonderful as well.

nikki doane is a great yoga teacher and has some great dvds out ; as well as baron baptiste, ana forrest, and sean corne.

i love to hear about more people exploring yoga! :)

Hi guys, great discussion here, I'm glad you are sharing your views with me and with each other.

Personally I think Obama generally looks fit, but on the face he's waaaay to thin... Not that he's not good-looking ;)

There's also one thing which I've been thinking almost from the very moment I saw him after hearing so much about "the first black man to have a real chance of becoming U.S. President". Don't flame me for this, it's not supposed to be racist or anything, but... am i the only one for whom he doesn't look "proper black"? I mean, when i saw him, i thought something along the lines "ok, his skin is black/darkish, but his features are not "black" at all, even considering that he's a "mulatto" (btw, is this word offensive in any way or just a plain statement?). I can't really make myself think of him as "black". I can't help thinking "white in a black suit"...

whoaaa tell me you didn't really type that...tell me you don't really expect people to not take offense to all of that...tell me you aren't really that ignorant...

Obama is way hot, incredibly smart, and almost (almost!) as liberal as I'd like him to be.  But most of America is fat, pinkish white, and shops at WalMart.  I hate this place and fully plan to be an ex pat someday.

hey, what're you doing in my head?!

needless to say, i fully agree..
