God, do I know what you mean. My switch finally went off last year after surgery. I lost my taste for many things and developed cravings for fruits and salad. Amazing. I'm journalizing my battles on my blog. You can find the address on my profile page.

| Motivation | Longest Plateau? | Jul 29 2008 20:45 (UTC) |

It seemed like I couldn't get past 213 for the longest time. I'd go down a couple pounds and feel like I had beaten it only to see rear its ugly head again. Finally I started to wonder if maybe my body had settled into what it wanted and that was that. Then I broke through and got hung up at 207. Same thing. Seemed like 2 or more months went by before I finally got away from it. Its frustrating but keep up the good work. It'll happen. As long as you are honest with yourself about what you're doing. I'm journalizing my battles in my blog. I invite everyone to visit and if you like, pass the link along to others. The address is in my profile page.

| Weight Loss | Honest Plateaus! How long can they last? | Jul 23 2008 15:11 (UTC) |
|
My experiences with plateaus have been that they usually only last for a couple of weeks max then your body adjusts and things continue. One of my tricks when this happens is to give my body something it isn't getting, a shock so to speak, like a pizza, or some ice cream or something that isn't on your menu currently. Something bad and not just a taste. Like going off the diet for a day. I know my body reacts quite well to that. My battles are journalized on my blog if anyone cares to venture over. The address is on my profile. Thanks. |

| Weight Loss | How many tries did it take you till you were fully committed to a healthier lifestyle? | Jul 18 2008 17:44 (UTC) |

It took me until just last year to finally get it right....for the most part, and I'm 41. Fruits and vegetables are finally a regular part of my diet and I managed to cut out most of the junk, just a treat here and there. Fortunately for me, I just lost my taste for most of it and developed a craving for fruits. Then again, I went through some serious medical issues last year so maybe my body did some sort of readjustment itself. I don't know. If anyone is interested, I'm journalizing my own battles with the bulge in my blog. The address is in my profile. Feel free to visit.

Hi Sarah and thanks! Control is the hardest part, sometimes I have it, other times I don't. But it consumes me, more so than it should. I feel guilty when I eat something extra or something "bad", and I feel guilty when I don't go to the gym. It's no way to live. I'm hoping that having a forum to share will offer me some help in all this. Good luck to you! Duane |

Awesome letter! I've never thought of that. I might have to steal that idea for my blog. |
