hi! congrats on making the commitment! i'm 5'7 and at my heaviest ever i would have been around the same weight as you. I'm now around 150lbs last time i checked. people are always asking me what pill/program/fad diet i used but i tell them it really is just as easy as making the calorie deficit each week. don't worry if you you eat a little too much/too little in one single day. focus on reaching a deficit at the end of each week. also for exercise all i've done is walked. i've never been to a gym or lifted a weight in my life (i probably should tho!) the best advice i can give you is to start by making minor changes like at first making sure you eat breakfast, replace soda with diet soda etc. you will be amazed by what little changes like that can achieve. after each month add some more little changes. little changes make it easier to stick to and eventually it will just become a normal way of life. oh and don't deprive yourself of anything. moderation is key! losing weight isn't the result of hard to stick to diets where you're always starving, or expensive fancy gym equipment. it is so achievable i don't know why i waited so long to do it! :) good luck! |

i could never do anything like master cleanse. it sounds like a dangerous short term solution that would make me miserable, weak, starving and sick. seriously how can you not see that drinking only flavoured water for a week is a bad idea? don't put yourself through the misery! 5 pounds isn't that noticeable. i'm sure you will look gorgeous at the wedding with or without those pounds. |

Lol sulfyr its true about looking at the model like a bowl of fruit. I'm an art teacher and have seen so many bodies that it really isn't a thing. Bums and boobies just become new shapes to draw like apples and oranges! |

i'm kind of having the opposite problem. i've lost almost 25kg but i still have 10kg to go. because i've been overweight my whole life my family are used to seeing me fat. they think its normal and they've started to scrutinise everything i eat and nag me because they think i don't need to lose any more. in actual fact i'm still classified as being overweight and losing more is perfectly healthy for me. everybody has an opinion! grrr. i just try to quietly carry on and do my own thing. refuse to be drawn into the debate |

i'm a big fan of nintendo wii fit. i had the same aversion to the 'e' word when i first started and the only reason i could stick with wii fit was because its more like a game than an exercise routine. otherwise my ipod is what motivates me in exercise. good luck! |

the beginning is the hardest but once you start to see the rewards it becomes so much easier i also have come to enjoy food shopping! before it was a mindless chore but now i enjoy the challenge of discovering new healthy alternatives. just stick with it a day at a time. |

i'm having this problem right now! i'm watching tv/on computer. i think its the habit of munching while watching tv. i'm not hungry, think i'm more addicted to the action. my solution is chewing gum and drinking diet lemonade! |

good for you burgherbelly! i've had a few 'off the wagon' days myself lately! but weighing in and seeing any loss is usually all i need to get back on again. think of all the benefits that you noticed from your first lot of weight loss. i should probably say i'm in it for the health benefits but i'd be lying. it has more to do with my ego! and vanity - i love shopping for clothes... i've never been into the gym. i either walk or use my wii fit. maybe you could investigate other exercise options to get back into it? mix it up a little? this probably wasn't very helpful lol but just wanted to say hi and hope that u find the kick start you need! x |

hi jessicasbc, hang in there! we are very much the same. i'm 21 and had a starting weight of 209lbs or 95kg. over the last almost 5 months i've dropped 37.5lbs or 17kg. when i started i felt just like you're feeling now. it all felt like a huge insurmountable task, but the trick is to changing one little thing at a time. i too felt like i'd wasted a lot of time being overweight, and i didn't want to get to the end of my twenties feeling the same. the best tip i could give you is to not think of it as being on a diet, it has to be a lifestyle change your capable of maintaining. making a huge sudden change would never have worked for me. i altered my eating habits gradually and increased my activity gradually. over time you will realise you're capable of more exercise and making healthy choices regarding food becomes second nature. the first month was probably the hardest for me, but after that it gets easier. eventually i realised that burger just wasn't worth it anymore :P stick with it because the results are so worth it. x |

Hmmmm perhaps its just one of those annoying plateaus? Has happened to me before. I was doing all the right stuff and exercising and lost nothing for 11 days. I wish i could analyse it more for you! I don't think its fat. Possibly muscle or water? Maybe up your exercise by an extra 15 mins per session? That worked for me. Hang in there, you will break it eventually! |

hello beat4, torbelly and mollysmum! its so nice to meet some others like me. yup i am in australia, perth to be exact. congrats to all of you on your success! its so motivating to have others at similar positions with similar goals. i have also kind of hit a plateau at the moment. i seems to be taking ages to crack 87kg! im actually a trainee high school teacher and just started a practicum today. it lasts for 3 months then i graduate so im guessing im going to be run of my feet in the coming weeks and that might help me crack 87. i hope so anyway! i'm finding the wii fit absolutely perfect for me. i don't have the time or money for the gym at the moment. this way i can come home from school and jump straight on. i was doing 30mins per day of jogging and yoga but i've increased this week to 45mins to help break my plateau. i also find it more interesting than walking because you can alternate between different games and activities. it counts up the minutes you have exercised and charts your weight loss/gain and bmi. also its so freezing here at the moment that i try to avoid going outside! i guess it just depends on what you like to do. congrats again to you all. i'll let you know when i kick this plateau's butt. and id love to have you as my weight loss buddies! |
