Wow people are showing some great successes!!  Congrats on law school jesus girl!  I start grad school applications in a few months and I hope it turns out as good for me as it did for you.

Last week:  154

This week:  155.5

1.5 GAIN!!!  2 things contributed to this...a horrible eating weekend and TTOTM.  So hopefully next week I'll have a nice big loss!

Good job this week everyone!

krilia:  If  your hotel has a mini-fridge maybe bring along a bag of salad and some lowfat yogurts to snack on.  You can maybe carry baggies with healthy snacks in your purse to snack on during the convention.  It sounds like a lot of fun!

And by the way, what on earth is pulled pork??? Whatever it is, we either don't have it in the uk or it has a very different name here!!

Pulled pork is like a pork roast shredded or the meat is pulled apart by hand.  So instead of a chunk of meat it's all shredded up.  It's then usually slathered with barbeque sauce.  It's really good!

Plus this week I'm going to a five day beer festival, so by next week I'm going to have put on a ton and it'll be that time of the month, so I'll be a mammoth!

That made me LOL.  I'm jealous..sounds fun!  Enjoy yourself!

I didn't have to go to Scotland to have too much food fun this weekend.  I have two things to say:  chili dogs and pulled pork sandwiches!  Yeah..so that's over and I was up 2 lbs this morning but it's only temporary.  So I have no idea what this week's weigh-in has in store for me...we'll see!

I did my HIIT workout tonight at the track.  This time I sprinted for the hard part.  I could only go 20 seconds all out.  It felt good and bad at the same time lol.  I tried a slow jog for the recovery periods but I couldn't do it so I just walked.  I think that worked well because then I was able to sprint faster after 90 seconds.  So I guess I'll just be doing the sprint/walk method.  I want some results!

After reading this thread and googling on my own, I decided to try this last night. I found a beginner's program online that has you doing 30 secs fast then recover for 90 seconds and repeat 6 times and gradually decreasing recovery time over a period of about 6-8 weeks.

I went to the track.  For my hard part I did the bleacher stairs.  Though I was really tired, I don't think it was intense enough because I really could have kept going.  So tomorrow night I'm going to just sprint instead.  I want the best workout possible!

I'm glad you brought this up!  Good luck!

Hey everyone,

Someone in the forum mentioned high intensity interval training (HIIT).  I researched it and it sounds right up my alley.  I did my first workout today and it kicked my butt a little bit.  Anyway...here's a link to one of the beginner programs I found in case anyone is interested.  It appealed to me because it's called the Lose Belly Fat Fast Interval Workout lol:

Wow, everyone is doing so great...whether they posted a loss or not!!  This is exciting!  I think Wednesdays will be my new favorite day LOL.  To the people mentioning water loss I say...so what!!  Whatever it is, it's gone, and hopefully for good!  I dropped 5 pounds my first week and it hasn't come back!!  Okay...my results:

Last week:  155.5

This week:  154

Loss:  -1.5 pounds!

YAY!!  My goodness.  I had about 3 really bad days this week but I exercised consistently so I think that's how I still pulled it off.

My mini exercise goal:  Walk to the track instead of driving.  It extends my workout by 35 minutes.

Mini food goal:  Calculate calories BEFORE I eat something as much as possible.

My mini weight goal:  149 pounds!!  I want out of the 150s NOW!

Woo Hoo!!  I'm about to eat dinner and it looks like I'll be sliding in just under 1200 calories for the evening.  Not only that but I'm only slightly hungry so I know I'll be totally satisfied after dinner.  FINALLY! lol

What was different about today was that I made a conscious effort to eat a breakfast that would fill me up for a few hours.  I was having a bowl of cereal and I was ending up hungry shortly after.  This morning I had oatmeal made with milk and I felt full for hours!  So I made sure to eat enough at lunch as well so I wouldn't be ravenous at dinner.  I need to do this every day!  I think I'm back on track...at least for now lol.

Hmmm...either way works for me as far as the thread is concerned.  I don't mind keeping the same thread though and I can see the benefit of weekly threads.  Hmmm...I know I didn't help much LOL.

Thanks for the encouragement lynners!  I went for a great run and a long walk and felt so good after that.  I'm not going to let myself get down.  This is just going to be a loooong process.  I can't wait to hear about all of our future successes!

Lynners....I'd like the turkey burger recipe!

I am struggling to get back down to eating my 1200-1300 calories a day!  Today I'm done eating and I've had 1900.  I just had to fry the fish instead of baking it!  UGH!!!  Tomorrow I'm gonna go back to my healthy snacks and salads as side dishes!  I'm about to take a 30 minute walk and then do jumping jacks/situps/pushups for as long as I can.  I'm so frustrated with myself!

Weight Loss Not hungry, skip breakfast? Jul 28 2008

The problem with skipping breakfast even though you don't feel hungry right now is that there's a greater chance that you'll feel ravenous later...and the cycle will continue.  I'm speaking from experience.  I tried that yesterday after a party on Saturday and I swear I just felt like I couldn't stop eating for the rest of the day!  I say have some fruit, some yogurt, or something.  You just don't want hunger to overwhelm you later is all I'm saying.

Congrats halizabeth!

Ugh...yesterday my friend had a pool party for her birthday.  I just logged all the calories I ate yesterday and I was at a whopping 3100 calories!!!  WHOA!!!  So yeah, not good.  I did spend about 3 hours in the pool but that is not going to help.  That was nearly 3 times what my calorie intake should be.  Oh well.  Today will be better.  I might have messed up my chances for a loss this week though :(

I did the math too and I came up with 1680.  Congrats on your progress!!  The criticism is annoying lol.  There is more than one way to get the weight off and this isn't unhealthy from what I read on the link the OP provided.  I could see why this would work for people.   Keep it up!  I look forward to reading about your continued success!!

Well I actually had a better day than I thought I would have.  I went out for Japanese food with my mom today.  I had salmon teriyaki and shrimp tempura.  I thought that those things would be way higher in calories than they were so I ended up being able to eat a decent dinner as well.  Phew! lol

I'm nervous about weighing in this week.  I stayed the same last week so I'm hoping to post some loss this week.  I've been really good but I don't feel like I've lost anything.  Time will tell I guess!

Some people are having rough days but it seems like everyone is motivated to just keep going so that inspires me.  Good luck this weekend all!

triciae77- We're pretty much in the same position!  I'm 5'0 and weigh 155!  Started at 160 2 weeks ago so I've lost 5 pounds.   I'm rooting for you...and everyone else of course!

holsfisher- Wow!  Your progress is inspiring!  I guess I have a thing for other 5'0 people!!  My first mini goal is 145.

lynners- Wish I could help you with your question.  I thought the deficit was from the daily total burn though.  I'm so new that I could totally be wrong though!

I don't mind a closed group.  I feel like we could be more supportive of each other that way.

Hi!

I think I might fit in better over here.  I'm 5'0 and weigh 155.5 pounds.  I've lost 5 pounds in the last 2 weeks.  I'm looking to get down to around 120-125.

I've been exercising pretty well the last couple of weeks.  Walking 30 minutes most nights and running for 30 minutes a couple of times a week.

I'm just checking in.  It's good to see so many people exercising!  I ran a mile today in the fastest time I've run it since I started running again!  So I was happy about that.  I walked another mile.  I'll probably go out again and walk later with a friend so I'm feeling good about my level of activity.  I'm actually looking forward to weighing in on my Monday weigh in day!  I stayed the same last week so I'm hoping that this week will see a good loss!

Keep up the good work everyone!  You're all so inspiring!

Hey everyone,

Figured I'd join in on this thread since I'm needing some encouragement as well.  I'm 5'0 and 155.5 pounds.  I'm not sure what my ultimate goal is but my short term goal is 125.  I've changed up my eating and increased my exercise for the last 2 weeks and have lost 5 pounds in that time.  The good thing about being short is that even after losing just a little bit of weight it shows..people have actually noticed already.  Anyway...just introducing myself.  Good luck everyone!
