Thanks for the support, but the main reason i'm mad, is that i weight 171 now, my target weight is 190. I'm trying to gain weight but lost it. Thats whats lame. I shoot for the moon but ended up in a ghetto back on earth.

I just bought a new cook book about high protein meals. I'm pumped. I like red meat.

Wow 1200 cals in rice? I had sushi the other day and it felt pretty high carb...

I just started like an hour ago! I was looking for some motivation and this seems like a great website. A friend reccomended it to me. How do you alter CC's Daily Goal for the eat meter? Mine is too high...

go to your account and right under your picture is "Edit settings". Click it and scroll down. Voila.

So I started all this, eating right, going back to the gym and have since lost 4 pounds. This is not cool. What the ****? F i'm pissed. Can someone says positive things to keep me going strong, like " Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness", "Shoot for the moon and you'll end up in the stars", " If you don't get everything you want, think of the things you don't get that you don't want"

Thats so obviously copy and pasted.

Cookie, LOL.  Thats priceless.  I don't get a A, B+ and up. Pretty good i'd say.  I like the fact that I will look at something, and know that when i add it to this website and my girlfriend sees it (she is also on calorie count) she will yell and point out how much sodium and things of that nature it contains.

I never knew rice had that many calories, i knew it was alot but yesterday i ate 1200 calories in rice alone. That aint right.

I'm in, I have one day under my belt. This CC'ing is pretty good, keeps me thinking about what i'm eating all day. No BS going in anymore.

I'm 5'11" and 173. I was 190 at the end of college, and want to be again.

Fitness Necessity of whey and/or glutamine? Jul 23 2008

Glutamine helps your body repair damaged muscles, which is what your body does after working out. Unless you have plateaued and need a jolt or have taken your body as far as you can without it, or you have money to burn and wan the most results you can get the fastest you can get them. You don't need it, in my opinion.

I understand what you mean about your natural weight, mine used to be 160, but through months of training and getting as high as 190, i settle out at 173 or so. Do you think since i was at 190 before, i'll get to it faster this time?

The problem with just using nutrition, is in order for me to have enough calories from whole foods, i would need to carry around a backpack full of food all day. I take weight gainers and they help out alot. I like them better than whey because they are full of calories so right after a workout i can fill my protein window and makeup more calories. I realize whole foods are much better, but making 5-6 meals a day that add up to 2800 or so calories is hard.

Weight Gain 19years 130pounds GOAL 170-180 over 6 months WHAT SHOULD I DO?!?! Jul 21 2008

I'll play devil's advocate. There are a lot of supplements that are perfectly fine to use. They are out there to help people put on lean muscle mass, which is what your set out to do.

I went from 160 to 190 in the last 4 months of college, my list of supplements were: multivitamins, Omega 3,6,9; weight gainers, and creatine. I ate 5 full meals a day with 4 snacks in between. Worked out for 1 hour everyday, with 1 day a month off. I can understand where everyone comes from, but unless you can devote your entire day to eating and working out, things like weight gainers make progress so much easier. When I slowed my training stopped taking supplements, i dropped all my water weight, and fell to 175 in almost a month. Which is where I am today, there was no withdrawl or symptoms, I just lowered my calorie intake and lowered my activity level.

You want to gain 40-50 pounds in 6 months. Eat. Eat until your full, then eat until you can't.  I agree that all the calories you can get from whole foods you should. Train the most that you can, limiting your workouts to no more than 1.5 hours a day (more than that will waste your calories without showing gains) and limit your cardio to 1-2 a week. I'm not sure what your body makeup in, but at 130 pounds i doubt gaining fat will be a problem.

I would encourage you to invest in some weight gainer, and wouldn't worry about the rest. At the beginning, especially being 19 and full of testosterone, your going to gain alot of weight and mass quickly.

Good Luck

3500 seems like alot but that wasn't the question.

If your afraid of not eating proper meals, Those supplements aren't really meant for that. NO2 (N-Large) expands your blood vessels to increased blood flow when you workout. I've tried it, my friend tried it, both resulted in massive headaches. I wouldn't recommend many NO2 produced to anyone.

Creatine stores fuel for your muscles. I took it for along time and it helped me gain alot of weight....

BUT if it's your diet your concerned about the best thing to get would be a weight gainer. It will add alot of calories to your diet, consisting of carbs and non-saturated fats. Take unmixed powder with your, find a water fountain in-between meals for a good snack.

Hoped this helped
