I would agree with the majority of posters, that you must keep working to improve your body fat percentage.  I have this same area going on currently.  A couple of years ago I lost 65lbs, and as the weight decreased, the skin on my belly and the remaining fat began to hang.  After a couple of months, I noticed this area shrinking, and while I did not appear to be losing any more in the area, my skin elasticity began to kick in and stretch marks were less visible, almost invisible (my skin was tighter in the area). So keep at it and give it time.

Hey Moolah,

I begin on yesterday.  I had always been a member of CC checking label infomation.  I was at 199 at the beginning of June, and had surgery.  Immediately after (the next day).  I was at 210 :)  My body does not like to be cut on.  Two and a half weeks later I am at 206.  So I am still waiting for my body to readjust, and on top of that I am on activity restriction, so I can not exercise like I am use to.  So for now, I am watching what I eat, and while eventually I would like to lose about 40 lbs, I am starting with the 7 to get to a mini goal of 199 (again).

Hey moolah,

I am 5'5" and weigh 207 lbs.  Of course, I am 25, but I would like to loose about 40 lbs.  I was just telling myself that trying to lose weight alone is more difficult and that I need to find a buddy to keep me motivated.  I am up for it.

Hey Everyone,

I think I did pretty well yesterday, I stuck to my goals and even got in some ab work.  Hello to our new group members.  I weighed in this morning at 189.5.  I know that is short lived due to TTOM coming up here in the next week or so.  SO I expect to be gaining a few lbs of water weight.

LoveFam98, as far as exercise goes, you have to find something that does seem like exercise, like dancing, or playing a sport, or any activity that gets your heart rate up that you enjoy.  Have you tried Core Rythyms, it is a latin dance workout.  It is really fun.  They are offering a trial for like $14 but you can buy it to keep for like 10 on Amazon.  But you can always, just gather the family in the living room and get them dancing to the radio.  It is fun, involves every one, and you all get much needed exercise.

Good luck to all today!

Titan,

My fist thought when I read your post is that it is highly possible that you have lost fat and gained muscle, it weighs more.  Have you been tracking your inches lost or your pants size?  What kind of exercise are you doing?  Are you doing muscle building or toning?  Regardless, you should keep at it.   Another factor may also how far you are from your ideal weigh.  The last 20 or so lbs is said to be the hardest to lose.

Hello Shaye and Weissa,

I am in the same boat. I am 23 years old and 5'5", and in 2005 after having my daughter, I weighed in at 235, well I lost some of that and my weight plateaued at about 178, but over the last year I have crept up to 188 and it flutuates to 190.  So I decided to jump back in the came.  My goal weight is 160 which may or may not change depending on how I feel when I get closer to it.  I have not yet set a goal date, but my birthday is March 3 and that might be pushing it a little maybe I should try by my husband's birthday June 23.  I would love to be in this group for motivation, it is just what my weight loss program needs to keep me going.
Weight Loss Gaining during monthlies. Jun 23 2006

timtams,

yes it is possible to gain weight during your monthlies, in fact most do.  It is very aggrevating to those of us who are conscious about our weight, every lb counts.  In fact, those who do not suffer from weight issue, most likely get on a scale less often and therefore, do not recognize the gain during that time, but it is water weight.  Hence the term bloated.  So, do not freak out, I am in the same boat with you.

Oh, and the way in which the water weight comes off varies from person to person.  Some people gain in the days before, or the first few days and the weight is gone by the end of it, aand some people gain and then the weight drops back off after it. Patience is a virtue.  Decrease your salt intake and drink your water.

I do not know what is going on with me this week, I am staying within my range with the right foods and water.  My body is really fighting back cause my weight keeps fluctuating.  I can understand plateau, but the wave is making me sick.  Maybe it is just my body shaking off the fat mentality.

Look a here, you body of mine, I don't know what is up with you, and I am sure you are more than confused, but what is going on now will go on for the rest of our life.  So you might as well tell your fat buddy to move out cause she is no longer welcome here.  Oh and tell your friend that condersider this her notice, The new tenant, Le An MussleAn Health is moving in permanently.  And trust me fat can have her deposit back, it has been stored in my belly flab pocket for years.  : ?

Let's Hope that works.

Congratulations, on your accomplishments.  This club will stick together to we all reach our goal.  170's is just a meeting place for our journey.  When everyone passes the 170's mark we can call it the group formerly know as 170's club, and so on.

smiles for you.

Hey, 170 club

I was jsut reading another post and I was thinking it was a great idea to set rewards for the goals we reach.  So I will go first.

When I reach 165, I am going to I a few pairs new pants.  I  have been giving away all my pants because I could no longer fit.

At 160 my husband is going to treat me to a romantic weekend

At 155 I am going out to buy that little black dress, but if I reach my goal before the Marine Corps Ball, the dress will be a formal.

At 150, I will go shopping for a new wardrobe.  my is already getting skimpy for giving away the clothes I can no longer fit.

Yeah, it seems like that when you reach this point, no matter how far you have come, your body just not want to let go.  My weight have been flutuating this week 172.2-173.0.  It is putting up a good fight but I will win and so can the rest of you.  If we just stick to it good will prevail.

I have done really well so far. Only 800 calories so fat today.  Not much protien so I will try to spend the remainder of my calories on lean meat. I didn't go to the gym today, but I did spend two hours chasing my daughter around chuck e cheese.  I will dance around in the garage for an hour to the radio and do some ab work later on tonight.

Have my preop appointment in a week and I am kinda scared, but excited all at the sam time about the up coming surgery, so I will keep you all posted.  Maybe I should search for some light exercise to do while I am in recovery, since I will have to slow down for a while.  Any suggestions?

Thanks guys, I think they are pretty cute myself.   I am so hyped about my lifestyle change.  We could do a 160's-170's club that way it will give us a wider span for us to succeed and struggle together.  I am at 172.2, although I am not sure if a plateau will come between it and the 160's, I am closer to them, and I want this to be an ongoing thing.

We can do this together.

I agree with the idea of treating yourself every once in a while.  A good Idea is to make those types of things yourself.  Grill your own burges with ground chicken or turkey.  Use fat free or low fat cheese and mayo if thats the stuff you like.  Baked fries.  Homemade veggie or chicken and veggie pizza.  This way when you treat yourself you know exactly what goes into it and it taste dilicious and a lot less fat.

My plateau hast lasted three weeks now.  I was at 173, but this weekend I had plenty of salty things so I know I am retaining water.  So I  too am at 177.  I know that this is not a fat gain because I stuck close to my calorie range, so we will see what happen in the next week or so.

Keep your head up, it will happen.  It is your body's way of trying to make you give up.  You can beat it and win.

How tall ae you guys maybe we should have a club, for motivation : )  We could lose together.

Have you tried the ball.  Lie flat on your back with your arms extended above your head.  You place the ball between your feet.  Bend your knees and bring the ball toward your head.  At the same time bring your arms over your head towards the ball.  Excange the ball between your hands and feet with each crunch.

I have noticed some results with this exercise, along with some fat burning.

This has got to be the most hilarious post I have read yet.  I too am packing more than my share at the top.  A chest of dawers works well for holding them up depending on your height. I have the problem of finding a bra because my ribcage and cupsize are severely disproportionate.  I would where a 36E if they ever sold that at walmart.  On a more serious note, I have lost over 60 lbs and it is horrible on my back.  The more weight I lose the more it hurts.  But this time next month, I will no longer have to worry.  Anyone need to be put on the list.  The breast tissue donor list that is if there was such a thing LMAO.

Everytime I tell someone what my mini goal is for the end of  May, they laugh and say is that 15lbs before or after the surgery cause those things have got to weigh 20lbs.

Motivation What do you dream of wearing, and motivation? Feb 22 2006

I agree, don't buy it. The pants on the wall is good for motivation, but don't buy new clothes yet, just sketch or write down the ideas you want to try. That way you don't take all the fun out of going to any store, grabbing a size off the rack and trying them on only to find out that

"Dang I look GREAT in this, or Miss you you hand me the next size down"

So don't spend your money on something you may never wear. Just develop a style for your new self and instead save the money for that big shopping trip you will make when you get to where you want to be.

Good luck to you. You can do anything you put your mind and in our case body to.
