| Motivation | 25 yrs old wanting to lose 20 lbs total!!! | Oct 07 2009 02:39 (UTC) |

Hey! I'm in the same boat - 27 and want to lose probably 20 pounds - I started at around 158 and I am now (month later) down to about 152. It's so hard! I snack too much at night. I have a hard time just making myself go to bed; instead I end up searching for something to snack on - even though I usually end up eating relatively healthy things, they are adding up at night. I feel like I consume about 60% of my calories after 5 pm. Today was a bad day - but I just started my period so hopefully that accounts for some of the erratic eating and not staying on course today :( Why does it take so long to lose it but it goes back on so quick?? We can do it!! I'm glad to have found some people with similar goals. Sometimes I feel like 20 pounds to lose is harder than 100. :( |

| Weight Loss | Confused About 1200 Calories | Jan 27 2009 16:25 (UTC) |

| I understand what you are saying about 1200 calories. I am 26 years old, 5'6, 155lbs (almost your old-weight CC twin, amethystgirl!) - CC also says I should aim for 1200 calories and I can do that all day... up until about 7:00 after dinner - my tummy's grumbling and I end up over-eating probably another 500-600 calories before the night is up!! I'm thinking that if amethystgirl got to 135 (my goal weight) eating around 1500, maybe that is a better calorie goal. I don't know why CC says 1200.
PS - amethystgirl, how long did it take you to lose that weight? That's great!! |

| Weight Loss | help, i feel like binging :( | Jan 24 2009 02:07 (UTC) |

| hang in there!!! I know it is SO hard, but just know that you are not alone in these feelings and the temptation to eat a lot in the evening!! I don't have a solution for you because I am trying to fight the same battles, but I just keep telling myself that I want to feel good when I go to bed tonight, not like I have failed. I think the fact that you got on here and made a post already shows that you are doing well! Good luck! | |||

| Mad4moon, thanks for your message - I see your point and that's one of the things I have worried about. If I eat dessert, maybe I will just get that itch for chocolate and dessert... whereas if I eliminate it as best as possible, I will be satisfied without dessert. I haven't figured out what works for me. I can definitely appreciate what you said about figuring out the internal reasons for binging. Maybe this is too personal for a post, but as a kid, my parents always rewarded me with snacks at night when I was good all day... and I think that has carried over to my adult life, unfortunately, and when I want to feel good or rewarded for a long day, I eat dessert. :( Ugh, all these mental and emotional problems we all have with food! It's crazy! | |||

| I'm around 153 and I'm hoping to get to 140 (or less!) by June. Like everyone above has said, I think it's about where you start, pound-wise. | |||

| Motivation | Ladies loosing 10-20lbs?? Need someone to chat to....? | Jan 17 2009 02:46 (UTC) |

| Hey you all! I totally agree about how the last 10-20 are so hard to lose. I'm around 156-ish and I'd like to be closer to 135-140. It's frustrating when I see people lose weight so fast but that seems to happen when they have a lot to lose! Lynnhaslost, I totally agree about not liking when people say you don't have to lose anymore weight, and I also wish I could pick at areas to lose! My tummy is my bad-spot! | |||

| Hey, thank you for your original posting because I think so many of us relate to how you are feeling! I have been really discouraged this week too because I was doing so well for a few weeks and now I feel like a failure because I have not beeing doing well at all in the past few days. I had a family emergency come up and between driving to and from the hospital, I ended up eating a bunch of crap and not being able to make time for workouts. I haven't stepped on a scale but I know i am going to have gained. It's so frustrating because it takes SO long to lose a pound, but only like a split second to put it back on! I just get scared that I am going to repeat this kind of cycle forever :( I am encouraged by what everyone is saying though. I guess I need to just look forward instead of backwards, but that is hard to do sometimes! | |||
| Motivation | seriously, a whole pack of milanos? | Jan 14 2009 04:22 (UTC) |

| Girl, I totally sympathize! And it feels so good to know that I am not the only one who does this and feels terrible! I haven't downed a pack of Milano's recently, but it's happened several times in the past... my absurd justification always is "Well, I will eventually eat all of these, so does it matter if I eat them all now, or spread out over the next week or so? It doesn't matter, I might as well eat them now and then I won't have the temptation" - totally crazy reasoning!!! For me, I've come to realize it's a blood-sugar thing. Once I get a taste of sweetness, I need more. So I've been trying really hard just to not eat sweets although it's very hard for me. But what everyone says is true, once you stop, you eventually lose the cravings after only a couple days. The individual-sized packages doesn't work for me - if I'm determined to eat the bag, I'll eat the bag even if it's in 6 smaller ziploc bags. Like I said, if you try to cut out sweets, the cravings will go away. Today I messed up though - I made the awful mistake of "rewarding myself" for something by having a cookie at Cosi. UM they are 480 calories, which I just found out!!!! Anyways after that, my day just got worse and I felt insatiable again, even though I haven't felt like that in days. Oh well. tomorrow's a new day; we will get back on track! :) Hope this hasn't been too rambling! | |||
| Weight Loss | Eat after 8? | Jan 10 2009 23:26 (UTC) |

| I feel like eating in the evening is a HUGE problem for me; if I start snacking, even on healthy foods, I just can't stop sometimes! So for the last 2 weeks since I've been on here, I've been trying to stop completely between 7 and 8. Im in law school so I don't get finished studying usually til near midnight which means I get pretty hungry - but I try just drinking tea or other no-cal drinks after 7-8 and I think that helps. I don't know if there's a magic time you should stop eating, but a few hours before bed feels good to me. :) | |||
| Motivation | I GAINED weight! Someone please tell me it is muscle and/or normal! | Jan 10 2009 20:48 (UTC) |

| Thank you everyone for the comments and it's nice to know other people are experiencing the same thing and that there's a light at the end of the tunnel! I'm going to stick with it. Even though I gained, my boyfriend just said last night that my waist looked smaller. Maybe he's just saying that, but I do FEEL better. Thanks!! | |||
| Weight Loss | Uh oh...cheesecake alert | Jul 21 2008 21:35 (UTC) |

Im new - but one thing I can tell you is if you have the cheesecake (which I think you should, if you want it), make sure you scrape all that ridiculous whipped cream off the top! That has to be a huge portion of the calories/fat. |
