Weight Loss Calorie Shifting - Can you shift forwards and backwards? Feb 24 2009

I think I tend to do this naurually thru out the course of a week. When I've had a high calorie day, I tend to be very watchful for the next few days and keep my calories down about 300-400 lower than usual by eating more veggies and fruits. If you skip meals you'll gain so don't skip, just eat healthier and add an extra hour or so of cardio to your workout. This will keep you burning the calories and keep your metabolic rate high. It works for me and I've lost 15lbs. in the last 2 months! Good Luck!

I stand up all day at my job, but I used to sit at my last job and I would work my glutes by flexing those muscles. It's easy to do when you're bored and can remember to do them.

Our bathroom is on the other end of the building so I use the walk as my power walk there and back.

I also use our counter or desk to work my upper body by pressing down on it with my hands and pressing up under the edge. Our customers never know I'm working out!

I also try to make all my squats count by keeping them slow on the way up and down to work those thigh muscles.

Every little bit of "figgetcise" burns calorie according to Denise Austin.

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply Jennelaw. We are stationed at Ramstein. We live in a brand new base house. It's the nicest one we've ever lived in including the one we bought ourselves. I will miss it when we leave next summer. When were you here?

Well, what can I say? Summer is almost over and all I can do is eat and mope. I get to go back to the doctor to get my anti-depression meds changed again! Fun! UGH! I've also been going to the dentist for 2 root canals and crowns. They always seem to take forever. We are leaving Germany next summer too. I guess I have been pretty low and when that happens comfort food is my solace. The weather here is sunny today so I am going to go for a walk even if I have to go by myself. I know I'm not exercising enough to do any good. Help!

I have kept my calorie count below my limit. I guess I need to lower it further if I'm ever going to make any progress.

I can't believe I gained 4lbs! I've been so busy I didn't even eat up to my calorie budget. Still, I only got to exersice once this week too. I guess it really does make a difference. I didn't drink enough water either.Oh well, Iguess I better get back to the track.

Betsy,

You are my hero! I can't even run around the block. But, there's always tomorrow. My kids are all between 16 and 21. We figured out we could get lots of exercise in the pool. We only have 2 more weeks of summer here in Germany, but we have a new pool opening up soon that's indoors! Yeah! with over 700 calories an hour I plan to be there lots this fall.

I am impressed with the running thing. I guess I know where I need to go next! Good Luck!

I'm a little late with Friday's post. I was so pooped from our trip I slept most of yesterday away. I think I walked more in the last four days than I have my whole life! Still, Paris is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I still can't believe we were able to go there. I was suprized by the amount of fat people that live there. I thought all of Paris was thin and beautiful. NOT! Americans are much more obsessed with fashion and grooming. I did good though. Steady at 206. Now back to the calorie counting. Good luck everyone!

I've lost 4lbs. this week. I am pumped! I've never been able to lose weight without being really sick before. This is so cool and powerful. Thanks for the reply about the eat and burn meters. It was helpful. I spent three hours in the pool yesterday. I am so sore, but I feel great!

Hello everyone. I have a Question about the burn meter. Should the two numbers match? I find this and the eat meter confusing. Let me know. Thanks!

I'm going to Paris on Monday for 4 days! We'll see if I can keep it down to somewhere normal.

Our family has struggled with my father-in-law for nearly 15 years now. My kids have had all the same emotions as you describe as well as a little resentment over the fact that they feel cheated he's not been well. My oldest daughter remembers grandpa well, but the youngest is 17 and she doesn't.

He has pulled some big stunts like going missing for hours, running over people in Wal-mart with shopping carts and kissing strangers. He would never have done things like this before. It does make me sad to see such a proud and extremely intellegent man live the remaining years of his life like this.

Most of all we try to remember the good he has done and how ingueneious and handy he was. It's really hard to face the fact that it runs in our family-him and all his sibilings save one so far and knowing my husband and children could face the same. Still, my mother-in-law has been his sole caregiver all these years, diapers and all. She makes me feel like she's a superhero and I can be one too!

Hello- I'm in. I would love to look better for Christmas. I've been on this site about a weekor so now. I really like the way I can see the calories I eat and put in my exercise. I currently weigh 210lbs. and I'm 5'3". I wear a tight 16. I have had to buy new clothes after losing my job last January and putting on the pounds! I haven't been this big since I was very ill 18 years ago. I hate it!I need the accountabliity that you don't get from your family some times.Weighing in on Friday is great for me. Let's chat more.

I have tried this stuff and boy does it affect my personality and not in a good way! I wanted a divorce. I was screaming and yelling at everyone-even strangers. My doctor said this can have a damaging affect on your heart if taken long term. I'd skip it and try diet tea. Less side effects.
