it sure is nice to know we're not alone. it seems like every pregnant woman i know right now is athletic and spry with a perfect little belly bump and not one once of fat anywhere else. it's good to be motivated. i feel like counting calories helps so much. and since i can't seem to motivate myself to go to the gym, i tried going to the mall and walking for an hour... i know it's not exactly the same but shopping is still something... right? anyway, being aware of what i'm putting in my body is very helpful. i don't snack mindlessly because i am aware that i have to write it down. next monday is my next OB appt and i'm curious to see if i gained weight of maintained and let the baby grow, you know.

yeah, make yourself a calendar of events you are interested in. join a book club and take a cooking class, whatever interests you... if and when you do decide to talk to him, you'll have so many interesting things to talk about besides how you're feeling, you might just rekindle the magic that was there before ;)

How do you know you're having a c-section early already?

You know, I think I really changed my eating habits for the worse when I found out I was pregnant and my body wasn't used to it. Like, I stopped eating Splenda and starting eating real sugar and stopped eating Eggbeaters and started eating real eggs. So, I was making healthy choices prior to getting pregnant but then I suddenly freaked out and stopped eating anything that wasn't natural. And, then, it was easy to start eating whatever i wanted... like ice cream sundaes which I wouldn't have eaten before. I stopped working out because I was so tired and the heavier I got, the worse I ate and the less active I became. It's a vicious cycle. So, here I am now... re-thinking those mistakes, you know.

I don't have a coca-cola fetish though, but I do have a thing for lemonade!!! Amazingly, my sugar levels are a-okay so far and I'm seemingly healthy except for the discomfort of swelling and weight gain...

How long did it take you to lose the 27lbs?

hey! i gained 10 lbs the year i quit smoking but took it off again with hard work in about 6 months.  if i had worked out and counted my calories while i was quitting (i used the mints by the way which really helped so much) then i might not have gained anything, i don't know.  of course, now that i'm pregnant i've gained a ton of weight that will be way harder to take off. regardless, quitting smoking was worth the 10 lbs, even if i never took off those 10 lbs. you'll live longer. period.

i went through a terrible break up several years ago and my dad, of all people, told me to go out with a different person every night, girlfriends, dates, new friends, a kitting group or a softball team, whatever. and, what i ended up doing was forcing myself to explore new things and meet new people and no longer had time to obsess about my ex and/or feel sorry for myself. i went to art openings and baseball games, it was great. i learned to say yes and be more optimistic, even when i was feeling at my worst and before i knew it i met the love of my life because i went somewhere i wouldn't have usually been. now we're married and expecting our first baby. i know how hard it is to move on, we have ALL been there and no one ever wants to go there again but it's so important to have had that experience so you can appreciate all the new experiences yet to come. the best advice i've gotten before is to focus on yourself and be good to yourself. don't fixate or over-think what this guy says and/or does. if he's really the one, he'll come back to you. if he's not, you've had a great experience and while creating more great experiences, you might just meet someone who is really the one... i hope that's helpful for you. best of luck!

Hey Melissa -  I just started on here after my doc suggested I had grown a little too pleasantly plump. I'm 172lbs and only 5'2" so I've gained 40 lbs and I'm not due until the end of September. I'm really having a hard time motivating to work out and when I let lose yesterday (it was my birthday) and counted what I ate - I totally see why I've gained so much and should probably be thankful that I haven't gained more! I'm back on track today with healthy foods. What is your official due date?

I actually bought a bathing suit for a trip we took in June so I do have one, I just don't really want to be seen in it... I guess I should get over that and join a water aerobics class, maybe. So, as for walking, I don't know if you gals have had this experience, but I get groin pain when I walk. As a realtor, I actually have to walk for my job (which is why I felt pretty satisfied with my activity level but now I'm not working so much since it's so hot) and sometimes I get like crazy pain down there. I looked it up and read that a lot of women get that pain and it's likely swelling like any other part of your body but it's certainly one of the reasons I get tired out when I walk. I think if I do something rather than nothing, that's the most important thing. Whew, it's hard to motivate but thinking of doing activity in small doses is helpful.

I have thought about joining a pool but haven't found the courage to get in a swim suit yet. I have tried a few of the pre-natal yoga videos which I like but I don't think it's the same as walking. My doctor really pushes walking. I think starting out at 15 minutes feels really doable. Sometimes, it's so easy to get overwhelmed with all the dos and don'ts that is really comforting to hear a few people say: just try this... so, thank you for your offerings.  Today was my first day writing everything I ate down and watching what I put into my mouth and I don't think I've eaten nearly enough to keep this little baby healthy even though I feel very satisfied with all of my healthy food choices today. Do you all know of a pie chart that tells you what you should be eating when you're pregnant? Like, protein vs carbs vs fats, etc? in order to compare it to the pie chart they show us on here... any thoughts?
