| Pregnancy & Parenting | Anyone else have twins? | Jun 02 2009 21:09 (UTC) |

Hi I also have twins. My boys will be 3 in a couple of weeks. Congratulations on making it through the first year (definitely the hardest). Now my boys are almost three it's getting a lot easier and it's great that they have a playmate all the time.
I've had food 'issues' most of my life and I've been everything from painfully thin to overweight, but having children seems to have really changed me. I lost a lot of weight after the boys were born (exhaustion and breast feeding mainly) and I have a much more active lifestyle now. I'd like to lose a few more pounds, but really I'm trying to tone up. I may be a healthy weight but that twin mummy tummy is still sticking around!
You can definitely do it - look forward to chatting more |

I'm an apron wearer too. Twins for me - over 6 and 7 pounds each (and 2 placentas). C-section scar is still numb and despite weighing around 20lb less than per pregnancy still get asked if I'm expecting!!
I've been working really hard for about a year now, but not seeing that much progress I'm afraid :(

Thanks everyone - some good ideas and I'll definitely try them. Still tricky though as the boys are really quite tiny, so need lots of extra fat. So I tend to put extra cream in potato and sauces which is not so good for the waistline!

| Weight Loss | Help- what am I doing wrong? | Mar 06 2009 19:57 (UTC) |

Thank you - I will try eating more. I think I probably managed to lose the first few weeks because I gave myself a few days off when I went out - I still made healthy choices, but it would def have been more calories - so will def try that again! I also realised I had set my activity level to light - so I thought I did have 500 cal deficit - but realise now it was much more.
Thanks again -will doing more weights to see if that does help |

Thanks. I'll try eating more. Weights will be tricky for me as I can't get to a gym (husband works long hours so always home with the kids) so I work out at home. I've been doing lunges and squats with hand weights though - and lots of crunches and I can feel the muscles underneath all that fat. I suspect my stomach is beyond help - but I want to give it a really good go before I give in. |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Stay at home moms... Boredom snacking? | Mar 05 2009 14:57 (UTC) |

It's really tough being at home with small children. I found counting every calorie really helps - because I often can't be bothered to weigh and log every tiny snack - so I don't bother. I also go out as much as I can (admitedly I don't have a newborn - I have 2 year old twins) but I find the best thing is to do things, go to the park, play in the garden, read stories, go for a walk - just to keep myself (and them) occupied. Try allowing yourself 2 or 3 low cal snacks in the day - and ones that take a while to eat, like an apple chopped into small pieces or popcorn with a small amount of maple syrup. I plan my snacks in advance so I know I have something to look forward to later in the day. |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Thumb sucking!!! | Mar 04 2009 14:13 (UTC) |

My little boys is 2 1/2 and still an avid thumb sucker. I can't see him showing any signs of stopping. We gently remove it, but it goes straight back in. His twin brother had a pacifier and we 'lost' it at about 8 months because it was more trouble than it was worth. Despite the problems with the pacifier in the early months, I'd much rather not have the thumb problem now!

Yes, I breast fed my twins and lost so much weight. Pre pregnancy I weighed around 165 lbs (I'm 5'7) and was around 200lbs at my heaviest preg weight. I was around 150 within 3 months of giving birth (and I was eating enormous amounts to try to feed 2 babies!) I think a lot of my preg weight was water weight though

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Stay at Home Moms - what is your activity level??? | Mar 02 2009 22:23 (UTC) |

I guess it depends what you do with the kids. I feel like chasing around after my 2 1/2 year old twins is at least moderately active - but then I walk everywhere we possibly can (sometimes a couple of hours at a time) and I spend a lot of time chasing after them in the park or in the garden! Good luck |

| Weight Loss | Sagging skin! | Feb 27 2009 13:09 (UTC) |

I think it must depend on genetics and how quickly you lose. After the birth of my twins my stomach will never be the same again. Even though I weight considerably less than pre babies, I think I look worse because I have a huge tummy with lots of saggy skin. Really hoping that lots of exercise with help to tone it up - but not holding my breath!

Hi I'm 5'7 and 147 pounds and I wear a UK size 12-14 (US 8-10) but I am fairly small framed and hold all my weight on my hips and stomach so might not be a good comparison |

| Weight Loss | Early 30's - Mom, wife looking for support to stay on track to lose 20 lbs! | Feb 09 2009 19:40 (UTC) |

Hi I'm like you too. I'm 32 year old mum of 2 1/2 year old twins. I work part time, have a husband who has a really demanding job and find it hard to get time to exercise and do anything for me. I've just joined calorie count - I'm 5"7 and weigh 153 pounds - looking to get to under 140. It's always good to hear others in the same situation - Good luck! |
