It's absolutely amazing. I just read it a couple of weeks ago... one of his best books in my opinon. Just started yesterday on the Dark Tower series. :)

Definitely read it!

Papa-  Sorry for the late reply, I've been pretty busy! I'm so sorry to hear about your physical therapy hurting :( My mom is going through it right now (she's trying to get her stamina up since her heart attack) and it's no walk in the park for her either. I think I'm going to get a picture of "Kirie" she's my favorite video game character (I'm a nerd, I know) on my back somewhere. I don't want it too visible just for the fact that when I start looking for a job, I don't want the employer to rule me out because of a tattoo. That's so cool that you have 4 of them! What are they of??

Hi BH! I also find that when I plan ahead I do much much better than if I do it on the fly. Maybe I'm just not a good procrastinator :)

Rocco - I'll second and third what everyone else said, and don't give up! Also I've found to make small changes at first (if you are just starting out on your lifestyle change), because I know I got overwhelmed at first and ended up quitting.

Makphl - Hey there! It's so great you're on the team with Papa and I still! I do miss the black team as well, but I have a feeling I'm going to love this one just as much :) And by the way, grats on the last challenge! You did amazing! We'll definitely keep the green mojo going ;)

Jillian, Lily and efish - So nice to meet you all! Very excited to be on our journey together through BLC12 :) It'll be a lot of fun!

Hi papa!! Glad to see a familiar face here on the green team! :) I'm so sorry to hear about your injuries! That is so hard to deal with I'm sure. You seem to be optimistic about it though which I believe is half of the battle! My goal for this BLC is to watch what I eat. That definitely got me off track last time. Glad to hear from you! I hope we get to meet our other members soon.

There are some really pretty names in here :)

I absolutely adore my name. It's Marianne. I rarely ever meet anyone with the same name or spelling since I guess it's pretty old fashioned. I'm named after my grandma which is "Mary Ann". I used to hate my middle name of Eileen, but I'm getting used to it. It was the name of my other grandmother. It was either that or "Georgia" so I'm quite thankful my mom decided to pick Eileen.

Good job everyone! I completely bombed this challenge and I'm really sorry to everyone for it. I had some struggles I had to deal with the last couple of weeks, but everything is good now so I hope to see you all back for BL12! Good luck everything and thanks for being so supportive!

Hi there! I'm going to be gone this whole entire week, as I'm going to Iowa to visit relatives. I won't have a scale either. I weighed in today instead, is that all right to count for this upcoming week? I'll be back in time for the following weeks weigh-in. :)

Goodness! Sorry for being away for so long, I'm traveling back to Oregon tomorrow to see my parents, then flying to Iowa next week to see my sister (Who I haven't seen for 11 years!)

My weight went up .2lbs this week, and I'm surprised it's not more considering TOTM and we had a gigantic birthday party over here (20+ people) with booze, fried oreos and tons of grilled food. I overdid it, but hey, I have to live sometime! It was nice to get the "calorie counting" out of my head for a couple of days. I feel like sometimes I'm almost way too obsessive about counting! It drives me crazy.

I'll be back in a couple of days. Take care everyone!

Yup, that looks like Parkour. My fiance takes Parkour classes and he loves it! It's awesome exercise and it's pretty popular up here in Seattle.

Yes, with the right supervision, and protective gear, I don't have any problem with my son and his buddies doing this.  They are quite good.   They are mid-teens, and I'd rather them be outside being active, then playing idiotic video games.

That's awesome! I agree it can definitely be dangerous. I personally would never do it (I don't think I have the upper body strength) My fiance has been doing it for awhile now. It's about his only exercise since he sits in an office all day at Microsoft making video games. Wink

Malone - That's great you had a good time!! I'm up a little in weight (Not by too much this week!) we went to Chipotle a couple days ago and I'm STILL trying to get the water weight off that came with eating their salty foods.

Jodi - I hope your tummy feels better :( I hate stomach ache's worse than anything!

Nikki - Thanks Nikki!!! Good luck to you :)

Health - Great job on running a faster mile! That's a great achievement Laughing

I'm at 157.8 today, so I'm only a .2 up from my weight last week. I'm hoping by Thursday I can get it down at least a little bit! Our roommate is having a party/BBQ here on Saturday so I'm a bit afraid of what is going to be cooked. Frown I have no self-control around good BBQ paired with alcohol. Ack!

Papa - You were absolutely right about the weight fluctuations! It went back down to normal after all :) I only lost .4 this week, but hey, that's better than nothing right?! :) I remember when I had my knee surgery when I was 13 and that was rough! Back then I was a little ball of energy, and not being able to get up and move killed me! I don't know what I would do if I had to be off my feet for 2 months! That's such a long time. I probably wouldn't listen to the doctors either! lol.

Hope everyone has had a good week! We are rockin' the weigh-in too! 2nd place is awesome! way to go everyone! like Papa said, lets keep pushing!

Tomorrow we're going out to the park again because it's supposed to be nice outside. This time I'll wear sunscreen. (I was a lobster last time!) But instead of sushi, we're going to Chipotle (Yikes! I've heard bad things calorie-wise about this place) so I'm going to do my research tonight. :)

Have a good weekend!!

The Lounge Should Grandparents have the legal right? May 21 2009

I'm a bit torn on the issue. My brother is going through a nasty divorce (she used to hide drugs in my nephews room when she was an infant...) his ex-wife is a drug-addict and an alcoholic. Yet her parents are still incredibly supportive of her and enabling her behavior. So the grandparents got fed up with my brother not allowing them to visit as he was trying to get my nephew Vincent in a more stable life after his mom left..  they decided to call child services on my brother and one day they came and took Vincent out of his elementary school to ask him if his dad ever "hit him" or "abused him".
Poor Vinny Frown They KNOW my brother is a great father and has never abused my nephew, but wanted their daughter to get full custody of him. They put my brother through a lot of trouble.. and now since it's all settled, his mom gets him two weekends a month with him, and her grandparents get Vincent one weekend a month. Gotta love California.

So I would say it really depends on the situation.

I have quite a few, but here are a couple that really rub me the wrong way.

I hate being late for anything. I always have to be a little bit early or it drives me nuts. I also especially hate when other  people are late. Especially if they don't let me know why (or don't call ahead).. It really bugs me for some reason. Frown

I also dislike people who need constant attention. Like people on Myspace (I used to use it. Not anymore though) or Facebook that constantly need "comment" postings or say things like "please look at my new pictures!!!" I know most of it is probably self-esteem issues, but it gets on my nerves.

People that swear every other word. I don't mind swearing.. I do it sometimes. But people who use a swear word every other word drives me batty.

This one is a bit gross. One my my roommates always leaves pubic hair laying around the bathroom (I always find some sitting on the toilet seat..) Ughhh.

Seattle weather. Make up your mind, will you?! Undecided

Papa - Thank you SO much for your advice. It made me feel so much better. You are 100% right! I will keep moving and exercising, as it's important for my body along with good nutrition. Thinking about it now, it does seem to be silly worrying about a 1-2lb fluctuate as it's a normal occurance. This is a lifestyle change and there is always going to be ups and downs, and I shouldn't sweat the small stuff. I agree with the team/family philsophy! We can definitely do this!! Smile

Jaye, you are definitely right. I think I'm going to start taking some measurements of myself to keep myself on the right mindset!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Thanks for the encouraging words Malone and Jodi! I definitely think the exercising has a big part to do with it. After 5 days of the scale heading up I'm back down to 158.6 today.  While that's not my weigh-in weight of last week (157.6 was) I can hopefully lose that extra pound and at least break even at this weeks weigh-in! Jodi, you are so right, I would take staying at this weight for two months instead of gaining any more weight! That's a good way to think of it. I think I'll do light exercise this week to build up to a more moderate workout.. my body might not like me jumping in all at once. Weight is such a frustrating thing sometimes! (Especially when you're doing a contest! lol) Smile

Speaking of FF11, I was playing it until about a couple of weeks ago when my account got hacked. I said "No more" lol. They made a bunch of changes that have made it a lot easier to level (XP rings, level-sync which is an AWESOME idea for any mmo! And they implemented something that's kind of like dailies) I love Mithra's too, even though I was playing a Hume. I originally wanted to play an Elvaan, but they look a bit funny.. Embarassed I do hope SE's new MMO improves on FF11 as well.

Wow, 4 80's! That's incredible. I get sooo bored of other classes besides my holy priest. I finally managed to find another class I loved to play (My shammy) If I ever go back to WoW, I will most likely make a horde character. I would have played them instead of alliance, but most of my RL buddies play alliance.

All this WoW talk makes me want to go back. :(

Oh I LOVE holy paladins. Actually, Paladins in general. My fiance leveled up two Paladins, one Ret and one Prot. They are so much fun to level with Laughing

I used to do a fair amount of BG's until DK's came out... then I could barely get a heal off before they deathgripped me and two shotted me.  Knight-Captain is not bad at all though! I don't think I would ever have had the patience to get Grand-Marshal.

I didn't like BC much either, so I guess I just don't like anything post vanilla WoW. lol. In BC I got to the level cap and just quit, I didn't raid much as during that period of time, I didn't have any spare time. I did do Kara a couple of times though which was fun. Much more fun than Naxx, that's for sure.

Yeah, not much is known about SE's new mmo (Its codename is "Rapture") So hopefully we'll get more details on it. It's likely that it'll be coming out before Blizzard's new MMO. I believe that it's been in the making since 2005, so I would think that the release date would be sometime next year. We'll see though!

I wonder what Blizzard will be surprising us with at this years Blizzcon? That's super neat that you'll be there to experience that!

I blame playing WoW as one of the reasons for my weight gain. Ha ha. Probably a good thing that I quit when I did.

Yes! I completely agree with you. I had MUCH more fun during the MC and BWL days. Maybe that's because the game was still "fresh" to me. I'm not a huge fan of this expansion for some reason.. it just didn't do much for me. Northrend isn't very exciting, and I absolutely HATE Dalaran (Mostly because of the lag) So I figured I would quit and play some of my console games that have been sitting around gathering dust until a new MMO comes out. I'm pretty psyched about their new MMO (Whatever it may be) But I'm also excited for Square-Enix's mystery MMO that is going to have new info out at this years E3.

I didn't normally PVP in WoW (before I switched servers) unless it was world pvp (Which is pretty much dead nowadays) I miss the days of raiding Tarren Mill and Mind Controling horde into lava!

Can't wait for SC2 and D3. Especially D3. Diablo 2 is such a fun game!

I recently quit WoW right when the Ulduar patch hit. Been playing since release day, and like you, got a bit burnt out on it. :P I had just recently hit 80 with my Enhancement shaman too (My main is a Holy priest). Blizzcon would have been nice, but I decided to spend my money on the Final Fantasy "Distant Worlds" Orchestra that's coming to Seattle in July. Blizzcon is supposed to be broadcasted this year, so I'll just watch it instead of spending loads of money. Laughing

Super excited about E3 this year though!
