Eventually, you might want to stop eating the yolks from your hardboiled eggs.  You still get the protein, but you eliminate almost all the fat and cals, meaning you can eat more egg whites and be fuller than if you ate whole eggs.  Way to go in planning your day, though!  That takes a lot of effort!  If you keep up this effort, you're going to be shedding pounds like nobody's business!

Good luck!  :)

Thanks, Obsidyan!

I made it through lunch with a can of tuna, a chopped up pickle, and some light mayo- 438 cals for the day so far.  It's HARD to get back on- I'm out of the habit, so I pick things up and think to eat them and then remember- I HAVE TO LOG THAT!

Yikers... I'll never go off again!  I promise!

Maybe taking a nice long walk with your husband-to-be will help clear your mind and work off some of those other meals...

I remember someone saying to me "there are some times when it just doesn't make sense to diet".  Maybe now is a time for you to just sit back and relax for a week and then hop back on the wagon once your life settles down a bit?  It might help to set a date a week or so after the wedding when you HAVE to start cooking again, so that you don't let yourself keep pushing it back...

Don't let your diet ruin your wedding!  There's plenty of time for that afterwards, and this is a day you'll want to spend focused on other things, like you and your hubby!

Good luck, and have faith in yourself that you'll come back to this SOON.  Even if you eat out, you can still make smarter decisions about what you order, right?

Congratulations on your wedding, I'm sure you'll look AMAZING!

If you're into feta, try grating it over a salad instead of crumbling it.  It helps the flavor go further and even helps to hide the weird texture of low- and no-fat feta, if you're looking to go that far.

Also, when cooking with cheese- put it on at the very end of the recipe, and don't mix it in with the sauce, just let it melt on top.  Somehow, it seems much more satisfying to me when I do it that way, because when it stays together, you get that gooey-ness that gets lost when you mix it in.

Good luck!

So I went back even further and got up the courage to post a picture of me at my heaviest...  It's hard to do, but it does make me realize how far I've come since December...

I can't wait till we get a before/after pictures forum!  It makes me feel so good to see other people's progress, and the comments you guys left made me feel like I am walking on air :)

Aww, I just had an awful night and you guys made it 10 times better.  Thank you!!!

I started with this website on February 12, but the first pic was taken in January, when I weighed around 200 lbs.  The second one I took today- 179.0 lbs.  I owe it all to Calorie-Count and you guys- your support is soooo amazing.  :)

I took pilates on the ball and my instructor told us your thighs should be parallel to the floor if you're sitting on it...  Does that work for you?

If you need to get another one, you can always use this one as a computer chair- they're great for your back!  ;)
The Lounge Adoption stories Apr 06 2006

Wow, cool story, Shanna!  I'm not adopted, but I've always wanted to adopt my own kids.  The way I see it, I could fall in love with any child, whether they look like me or not!  I've got  (or, theoretically, will have) the resources to care for and love a child, and there are lots of kids who need care and love- we're a perfect match!  It just makes sense to me.

As someone who's been adopted, do you have any tips about how I can make life better for my (future) adopted kids?  How did your parents explain your adoption to you?  I've always thought I'd be honest with my kids about it from the start and try to keep contact with the birth mother (if possible)...

I heard somewhere some adopted child said "Some kids were born from their mommies' bellies.  I was born from my Mommy and Daddy's heart."  It seems like a good way to explain it to a little kid... What do you think?

Weight Loss How Do you get 20% fat a day Apr 05 2006

I totally have the same problem as you!  I thought I was crazy.  I've asked my friends and they told me that I should swap out some of my low-fat calories for some high-fat calories that still have good things in them like protein.  So, cheese, avocado, dark chocolate, stuff like that, I guess...

I don't know, it seems a little scary to me because I've only been getting in like 15 grams of fat a day...  I'm eager to see what advice other people have!

Are you talking about Cocoa Via bars?

I got some this weekend and just tried one- AMAZING!!!!  They're like having 4 small REALLY GOOD dark chocolates...  And they're marked into fourths, too, so theoretically you could just eat one at a time for 25 cals each...  Perfect for a chocolate craving, these things are the REAL DEAL!

I'm going to go eat the other 3 squares of mine and drift off into happy chocolate land...

I've also been told by my yoga instructor not to do any inverted (i.e. pelvis higher than your head) positions during your cycle because it's anti-gravitational.  I don't know if that's medically proven or just her own theory, but I'm not that advanced anyway ;)

I got some similar ones from Danskin- mine are adjustable and come with 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 lb plates you can switch on and off the bars for different weight amounts (I'm apparently ambitious- hah!).  Mine didn't come with a DVD though, and they're teal and purple.  I like them a lot!  Mine was closer to $30, I think- I got it through amazon.

Motivation Anyone buy charms yet? Mar 28 2006

I'm a half a pound away from earning my third charm, though I haven't bought any yet.  I'm doing one charm for every 5 lbs- what are you guys using for increments?

I'm also having each charm represent one person in my life who's supported me either directly or indirectly to achieve my goals, starting with my mom (a thimble), dad (the thinker statue), and brother (a little hardhat- an inside joke).

Still to come:  2 best friends (a peace sign and a peanut), mom's side (a canoe) and dad's side (a pretzel) of the family, and then me (a running shoe)!  All together 40 lbs!  15 down, 25 to go!  Wow, that doesn't sound so bad at all!

Blend one block of silken tofu in with spaghetti sauce, stir in 2 cups of peas, and serve over whole wheat pasta.  VERY filling and lots of protein!  Also, the tofu gives it the texture and creamy taste of a cheesy sauce.

Go to a doctor as soon as you can!!!  The longer you go without a period, the less likely it is that you will be able to bear children in your lifetime.  It sounds like your body weight is too low- please be careful!  How tall are you?

I think about it kind of differently- I want to get credit for all the fiber I'm eating!  I don't think of logging food as limiting the amount of "bad" things I take in, but also tracking how much "good" stuff I eat too.
