i agree with silentdeadlyrose....... i dont consider myself to be on a diet, but to have changed my lifestyle. stop thinking of foods as i cant eat that cause i'm on a diet, and start approaching it as , i wont eat that cause its horrible for me.

now that doesnt mean you cant eat those things.... if i had 100% control i would have lost about 20lbs more, as i have gained 2-5lbs several times through the summer, when camping, or going out of town...... the trick is to get back to your healthyier way of eating once that weekend is done....

also agree about the taste buds part..... SO true!

i'll stop rambling now.

That is tough, it's really easy to give in to temptation when it's staring you in the face begging for it! You are doing the exact right thing right now though - realizing you made a mistake and planning ahead for the next time Laughing

Something that have helped me are:
(1) Investigating the food choices at the places my bf likes to go, that way when he wants to go there I know I can have X for 300 calories.
(2) Have good food in the house that both you and your hubby really like, so if pizza is a temptation have stuff on hand to make your pizza at home.
(3) The good old five-minute delay technique. When you're in that moment and he's looking at you saying 'do you want to go get pizza?', say 'give me five minutes.' Then go and do something else, anything else to take your mind off it. (If he says he is really hungry and needs to go now, then push him out the door!) Tell yourself that with those five minutes you will do whatever you need to do to take your mind off of it, and then you will consider your options. Go brush your teeth, put some laundry away, hop in the shower, take a quick walk around the block. When those five minutes are up you will feel much more in control then you were before and you will make the right decision. Be are not to tell yourself that in five-minutes you will eat pizza because that will just make everything worse - just reconsider the situation in five minutes, and
(4) Don't beat yourself up over a little 'oops'! They happen, such is life. As long as you pick up the pieces afterwards and move forward, you are succeeding!

i was 1/2way through typing a response before i noticed this reply......... it pretty much sums up what i was going to say..... between that and Melkor's post i got nothing else i could say!

Glutino, http://www.glutino.com/ makes some AWESOME bread products.... breads, buns, subs, bagels.... all sorts of goodies. my wife LOVES their wares....

as for make it your self mixes, she likes to use CeliMix.. i couldn't find their website on the quick search i did. but they make LOTS of mixes, bread, yorkshire pudding, and other goodies, and its the bread mix she prefers over the others we've tried......

as for Bob's Red Mill, they have some great stuff too... corn muffins (YUM), and pancake mix.

for being a mostly gluten free house ( i have soups and stuff i take to work she cant eat, and the odd slice of regular bread from the freezer) we eat pretty dang good

The tahini sauce and hummus are good. Also I really enjoy this recipe for shawarma. It is also good in mashed sweet potatoes (I got the idea from Cook's Illustrated). Bake two pounds of sweet potatoes until soft, spoon out the insides and mash with 1/2 tsp toasted sesame oil, 2 tbsp tahini, 2 minced green onions, salt and pepper. It is Strangely addictive.

holy crap that sounds good! if i didnt already have tomorrow's dinner planned........... well at least i know what to have on wednesday!

i've found that you can buy some tasty gluten-free bread products, but they HAVE to be toasted.... taste like CRAP by them selves. you can also buy some good bread mixes to make at home.

i've only had some of the bread products, as its my wife who's celiac, but i understand that the bread mix is pretty good too. if i remember i'll check the pantry tonight and post the brands.

I'm going to have to agree with Michael on this one re: the amount of sauce, and its contents.

when i go to subway i usually go for a 6 inch on whole wheat, dry, no cheese, and just mustard. being able to cut out the mayo/sauces can save you a TON of calories, as well as sodium. cutting out the cheese was the hardest, as i LOVE cheese........

there's my 2 cent

I ordered fettucini alfredo once and asked for the non-chicken version. They gave it to me with lots of tiny pieces of chicken in it. I sent it back. it came back to me less than 5 minutes later (The first time it had taken 20 minutes + to make). It was obviously they had just picked out the chicken and melted new cheese on top. There was still lots of chicken left in it. I was pretty peeved about it.

oh man i would be ANGRY about that!
