hehe...I didn't mention the medication or what it is for specifically because I knew some people would have that reaction bittenkitten...

unfortunately because of the nature of these types of medicines, if you take it WITHOUT having the condition that it is prescribed for then it can really mess you up. That's probably why the weight loss industry hasn't jumped on it.

What you can do is talk to your doctor though..ask if there are other meds you can take that don't make you crave like the ones you are currently on.

Health & Support QUESTIONS: How do you sleep? Please help me with my journal. Jan 27 2009

1) I usually go to bed late, sometime from midnight to 2am. I sleep in to ~11am except for a couple days a week when I have morning classes. I don't really have any rituals, just brushing my teeth. I usually eat a small snack close to bedtime, as this helps me sleep.

2) sometimes I will get up and surf the internet for a while, but usually I will just try to sleep for a long time. Or I might shower..the heat makes me sleepy.

I hate wearing panties too! I always make sure to wear some under skirts though, lol... don't need any of those types of slip ups! I'm not a celebrity!

I actually started wearing underwear more often because my boyfriend commented on it! I asked if he minded and he said noooo. lol. But then I became embarassed. =o

The skirt/panties rule doesn't apply when I am only going over to his house. =D

I am also addicted to sleeping naked! Right now I have the softest winter sheets on my bed and its so cozy!

You definitely have a right to be upest, but if you are considering dumping a 3 yr relationship over this then I have to ask... how has the relationship been the rest of the time? Only so-so? Is it WORTH it to you to work it out with him and get over this hump. Because his behavior may or may not be a "good" reason to dump him, depending on his reason for lying, but the only thing that matters in the end is whether you are happy with the relationship overall or not.

I think you shuold try to have a conversation with him at least... but definitely wait until you can CALM down, and do NOT accuse him of anything...just be calm and ask for explanations. good luck =(

this may sound stupid to others, but I know what you mean. I am grateful that i spent part of my life growing up oveweight. I feel like I developed a view of the world that people who "fit in" just don't have. I am more empathetic than I would have otherwise been, especially to anyone who is "different". And I am really confident now that I have overcome my weight problems..I'm not as skinny as most girls, but I am happy!

It sort of makes sense... struggling and surviving makes you stronger.

your worst critic is yourself! Believe me, I am the same way! I tihnk you will look gorgeous because you are definitely at a healthy weight, and you will be all clean and hair done and makeup on and with a beautiful DRESS (everyone looks great in wedding dresses omg!) and honestly...? I tihnk people are more likely to be jealous that you are HAPPY and headed to a great marriage...

One tihng you might want to do is only eat very lightly on the day of the wedding... drink lots of water but not too much, moreso on the night before. If your belly isn't full then you will feel thinner even when you aren't, haha. Good luck and congratulations

wait until you can find a mature girl that is able to make her own decisions in life, and not be bossed around by the parents. Do not think for a second that if she was mature enough to handle it and REALLY wanted to be with you, her father's feelings about it would not have mattered. It is a shame she led you on though. Good luck..keep your chin up..

My guess is that it was for like 1/4th of the pizza or something. It probably listed the calorie counts per slice.

As for the others that you haven't eaten yet, you could always call the restaurant and ask them to specify whether the counts are for the full portion or the half sandwich. A lot of times they list for halves. Dumb I know.

Um, how old are you and your friend? Kind of a vital piece of information here..

From what you describe, it sounds like in order for your friend to get any real help, something OUTSIDE of the family needs to interfere here. ie, Kids in Crisis or some other sort of protective agency. Seriously, what you describe is really messed up and you are right to be concerned.

I think that the father sounds like a proper a^&^hole and so I don't know why YOU should care about what his public face looks like. if he wanted a nice public face, he should have a nice private face. That's how it goes. It sounds to me like your only options are 1) convince your friend to do what she needs to do for HERSELF and forget her father or 2) make a call YOURSELF to a child protection agency or suicide hotline, whichever you feel is appopriate..

The Lounge Fashion Advice? Dec 05 2008

Hi, I went through the same thing a year or two ago. search for some fashion blogs online and read them. Go for the "casual" or "streetwear" types, not the runway fashion types lol. If there is a certain type of look you like, try to replicate it! You may feel a bit silly at first but remember that OTHER people do not know you do not normally dress this way. They will think these new outfits look perfectly normal on you.

really important!! search for some articles online called "dressing for your body type". these will give you general information on how to choose clothes that suit your body specifically. Try to figure out several clothing shapes/styles that flatter your shape, and then you can find endless variations on just those couple of styles and they will automatically look good on you. For example, I am an hourglass shape so many of my shirts are belted or cut to emphasize my natural waist, and I also stay away from puffed sleeves. lol

Finally, pay attention to what other people around you are wearing. I do not mean COPY them...but... it will give you ideas and you can do it all the time even when you are away from your computer. good luck!

edit: okay I forgot to add a couple of really crucial things that I did when I went about "building my wardrobe". the first is that I searched online for articles related to "building a wardrobe". lol! there's lots of advice on there. but anyway, as someone mentioned, the other important thing is to pick just several colors that you like and make those your core colors. You can get other colors occasionally but if you limit your colors you will end up being able to mix and match more.

The Lounge Good Sci-Fi/Fantasy Books? Dec 04 2008

R.A.Salvatore just came out with a new book! Get him that if he hasn't read it (The Pirate King, Forgotten Realms). But you might want to see if he has read the ones previous to it...

I am a huge LotR/HP/Forgotten Realms fan and a really AWESOME set of books that your fiance might like is by Stephen Lawhead. The trilogy is called The Song of Albion. In order they are: The Paradise War, The Silver Hand, The Endless Knot. It is about a modern day guy who gets trapped in Albion, a world steeped in Celtic mythology, and eventually he gets intertwined in an epic story etc. Excellent writing and great battle scenes..

The Lounge Poll. Topic: Nobility. Dec 03 2008

81

YES (mostly)

because if a person is only comfortable with him/herself doing noble acts, I would infer that he or she is a noble person.

a "lower" person would be perfectly comfortable skipping the noble acts, or at least not care ENOUGH to go through with them.

It is when the person in question is doing said noble act to appear noble for OTHERS that I think it crosses the realm into a "fake" act. It may also be a fake act if the person has a history of being the opposite of noble.

Wow, I think that would have really made me a better person and a harder worker. But it would be a pain now, trying to translate those into something that grad schools can use for admissions.

it's actually not too bad. We have a very high grad school acceptance rate. I believe almost all grad schools are willing to accept what is called your "portfolio" (a collection of all your teacher evaluations) as an application.

The Lounge College students should be required to maintain a 3.5 GPA. Dec 02 2008

As someone mentioned, what about schools that don't give grades? I believe education should be migrating AWAY from placing emphasis on very simple grade scales, not TOWARDS it. A 3.5 grade average says NOTHING about a person..I mean, just how much can it say? That they are a hard worker? That they are skilled at taking tests? That he/she is good at sucking up to teachers? It says squat about the details of a person's ability...details that will make or break someone's chances of making it in any one field.

I attend Hampshire College. they do not give point based grades-- instead, the teacher writes you a detailed evaluation for each class that you take. Hand a stack of THOSE to a potential employer and then it really says something about you! And they will know just what they are getting. Can you imagine hiring a 4.0 GPA and then finding out he/she can't even conduct any independent work, because all he/she was good at was taking tests.

altogether my peers make up one of the most intelligent and hard-working groups of people I've ever met.

can't you just tell her that its none of her business? Don't be snappy about it, just firm.

I can't say whether you are "right" or "wrong" in your motivations to lose weight, but you will certainly have more peace of mind if you make it clear to both her and yourself that it is NOT a competition. there comes a point where smaller does not equal better!

I don't go to church, so I don't really care.

But that seems like a ridiculous excuse to give. There are probably plenty of churches that would be honored to have him, disturbance or no.

HOPEFULLY he's just busy doing other things.

Health & Support What's the strangest tactic/diet you've resorted to to lose weight? Nov 24 2008

The only "tactic" I've ever used was to force myself to eat an apple before both lunch and dinner, and a banana before breakfast. Even if I really didn't want it. And then I was allowed to eat what the rest of the family was eating.

I got sick of it at times, however, it worked!

I still use that strat occasionally, but not as strictly as I did before lol..

My family had mostly home cooked family dinners growing up... take out was just to give mom and dad a break from cooking. I know some families that do take out almost every night of the week, though. Fast food as well. I find it very strange. I don't view McDonalds as a "restaurant"..just a grab n go thing that you get when there is nothing else-- or as a treat, etc. But many families these days view take out food as the "default".

1 tablespoon of the peanut butter blended well with some lite silken tofu. Then i warm it in the microwave and spread it on some whole wheat toast.

It's been a life saver. I hope that helps someone else with a peanut butter addiction. :)

wow, I'm totally going to try that asap.
