It's so nice to read about all the success people are having here - it really is inspiring.

I have a question, though. Whenever I run, even when I alternate between walking and running, I find I get cramps pretty soon into it. Is there something I can do (or not do) to avoid this? Anyone who had the same problem?

I've been doing yoga from a series they have on FitTV, and I must say I absolutely love it. It's not a hardcore workout or anything, but it's just so much fun.

Also, I'm 16, turning 17 in January and am moving out to go to college (graduating early) this year. It's not too early for everyone, some people can do it and some can't. :)

Wendy - your kids do DDR in gym class? Wow, I wish I went to their school! :) But I know what you mean. I tried to follow some workout I saw on Fit TV today and found myself stumbling awkwardly through the steps. And you're right, it does seem expensive. I'm going to try to find it on ebay or something for cheaper however in the mean time, I will definitely check out those Jillian Michaels tapes. For now, I'm just aiming for the Wii Fit. It's just nice to be able to do something active on rainy days (such as this one D:). Anyway, good luck with your couch to 5k plan!

Thanks for all the recommendations/words of welcome. :)
I don't own a Wii as of now, but I do have a playstation, so I think I am also going to get DDR, just to be able to incorporate something active and fun that I can do whenever. I don't expect to lose any real weight with it or anything, but nonetheless.
As for videos, I think I'm going to get Turbo Jam, as I've heard really good things about it. Anyone here have any opinions on that?
I'd also like to get some yoga videos, and I have no idea where to go from that. Anyone here have any they like?

k9stylist: Thank you~ I actually am absolutely excited for getting a Wii, haha. Also, I'll definitely keep the minimum of 1200 calories in mind. I live in Florida, so it's really unbearably hot almost 24/7, so doing outdoor activities really, well, sucks. So I like to keep things indoors, if I can. I'm probably also going to get some videos, if anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated :)

Hey everyone~ I feel like I don't want to interrupt the great system you've guys made, I hope it's alright :)
I'm ~185 and 5'4", I really just started but my goal weight is in the 120-130 area by next August. I plan on just going with the flow, whatever feels/looks right. I've been pretty overweight my whole life, but this is my heaviest and it just doesn;t feel good at all. I never really exercised, so it's a good motivator to get me into the mode of a healthier lifestyle. I plan on eating between 1000-1500 calories a day and doing HIIT combined with more moderate but lengthier exercise, like walking and swimming. Maybe some bike-riding too.

In the previous posts, you guys were talking about the wii fit. That sounds so cool! Is there anything you need (besides the wii and the game, of course :P) to use it? Like equipment? Or just an open space?
