Lot's of people starting to train hard are experiencing weight gain. This is usually caused by muscle gain. (muscle weight way more than fat !). Had you took some mesurement before starting ? did you notice some improvement in your overall silouette ? If so .. that's good ! Muscle mass use less space than fat. Scale is very overrated, and too often use as the only reference. Building muscle is the best way to lower your fat. More new muscle mass created = more calories burned everyday just to have your body going around.

| I had the same problem with chips .. The alternative i found that worked for me is Apple chips ... i use my mandoline to make very thin slices of apples, put them in the dehydrator machine for about 10h (overnight!) .. makes crunchy apple chips. ! nothing else than apple. Very healthy and makes my chips craving go away ! I make them at least two or three times a week .. kids loves them too !
Be carfull .. you can sometimes find these prepared at the grocery store.. but they usually have added a ton of sugar to them :( Claude |

| I can't wait for the snow to melt over here, and temperature to get warmer... i want to use my bike to come to work so bad .. it's a nice 25 miles/day. i should be good to go in about a month .. with my mountain bike at first, util they do the major spring road cleanup .. then i'll be back on my race bike.
I'll join in the challenge as soon as i can .. hopefully before the end of april. |

| my last run of June was: 3 miles in 28.15 minutes for an avg of 6.41mi/hr .. i'm pretty happy about it ( GOAL Reached!) .. my new goal is 6 miles in less than an hour by the end of the summer. (that is all outside running) Claude |

| i 've been weight lifting at this gym since january 2006 .. and there are these 2 guys always there every lunch time .. chatting and laughing and not serously trainning .. i'm there for a shorter time than they are every day.. One came to me and mention he notice i've build up a lot since i'm there and ask me for my trick .. Just Told him that there is no trick .. i just don't spend my time at the gym chatting and loosing my time. I think he understood the message. :) hope it was note too rude.

| Hey ! last week i was on the spinning bike.. this guy was looking a me all the time ... Maybe because i sweat a lot, or because i push myself pretty hard.. i don't know .. but I solved the problem by giving him a big smile and a wink ! He did not look back at me again !... | Use a mesuring tape ! .. i've been a little discourage about my scale result for the last 3 weeks.. almost no loss . But i had some mesurements taken about month ago .. compared with acutal mesurements .. WOW ! i'm happy again ! Scale is a nice tool to mesure your weight.. but weight is not the only mesure that should be taken ! I'm a living proof ! ;) as per your question about when .. it really depends on the type of exercises, fequency ... hard to tell as i have very little info about your formula... Claude |

| My drink is Dark Captain Morgan's Rum on the rock with Diet Coke. I like it so much .... served in separate glasses of course ! I have a real hard time cutting it on the week-ends.. .. I'll train harder just to keep my couples or drinks during week-end.

| ok ..I might be in .. but need some advise. i want to start running .. i'm a lot into biking, but still want to run... What would be the best way to begin.. having a timed session and try to get a better distance or fix a distance and try to get a best time for it .. ?

| Another easy way to set Your limits... Fat burn: you should be able to have a normal conversation with someone without beeing out of breath. If not, you are going to fast and are not in fat burning mode, you are in cardio .. But hey ! it's still very good for you! :)

| you are lucky.. in my case .. there is no way i'm not taking a shower... i sweat a lot ! ... mostly from the head. The office where we were before did not had showers, but i managed to get acces to the gym showers from accros the street (for minimal fees). it was not a service normally offered, but after talking to the manager, he came up with a "shower only" acces card for about 8$/month. I had the word spread at the office an a couple of persons took advantage of it. When you really want to use your bike , you can always manage something. Claude |

| Just received my 2 pads and game DDR MAX for my PS2 yesterday ... Wow ! What a workout ! that is pretty fun ! ... My wife also enjoyed it a lot. Good workout that we both like, that is nice. Bought the kit on Ebay... 65$ shipping included... not bad.

| I use my bike twice a week to come to work (mostly from April to October as i`m in Quebec) .. it about 12 miles from home. we are fortunate to have showers and free underground parking where we can lock our bikes. The cie also has a couple of bike that you can take to go out on your lunch break for free. That`s nice. I`m actually in Montreal, working for CGI.

| It's unfortunately considered light weightlifting... each set takes about 45sec to performe and you are resting approx. 90 sec... means you workout around 13 minutes out of your 40 minutes.. weightlifting is not about burning calories, it's about building and shaping the muscle you need to burn them !

| hi ... i lost some weigh .. most around the belly .. (2 holes on the belt) since january .. but my body seams to have forgot that he had put some reserve under my chin too !! ... it doesn't go off. .. i think these fat spot will be the last to go .. with the love handles !

| Hi, I'm doing a lot (12-15 h/week) of cycling, and my thighs are hard, but not bigger than they should be. You would have to do a lot for your thighs to get bigger .. is it a goal or a concern ? If you don't want them to get bigger , just make sure your cadence (legs rotation/minutes) is between 60 and 70 (1 rotation/second) lower than this you'll need to apply more force, meanning you might get your muscles to get bigger.

| Anyway, everyone has there own view of perfection... What is perfect for one, is not for the other. Everyting is in the point of view. The only person that can see things and take action accordingly from your point of view is you !! You can have this little cool test done so you can have a nice image of what"point of view" can change on a percection: put your hand in the air and turn your finger in clockwise rotation ... still turning it, drop your hand at your chest level.. so you can see you hand from above... is it still turning clockwise ? it's not .. .even if you never change turning direction. only the point of view changes..

| :) ... I actually hate when it's not hurting the morning following weight lifting.. I've been weight lifting seriously since january (4 times a week) . I gainned some mass, but it's getting harder and harder to get this "good hurt" the day following the trainning.
I've realized that changing trainning parameters help finding it back . ex.: numbers of reps, changing exercise, changing barbell for dumbell ... Uberman ... try to have your shoulder rest a couple of days ... and lower your weights by at least 1/2 on the shoulders trainning for a while.. Make sure you are doing the flys properly (ask a trainner!) because you could do real bad dammage if you are not making them the right way. I had this type of injuries a couple of years ago.. If you feel the pain (like a burnning sensation) while trainning , just stop the set... don't train on it .. you'll just make it worst ! Claude |
