No need to be too surprised--It goes to show that there are "a million and 1" philosophies on when to eat what, and you've found one that works for you. Be thankful, as some ppl are still searching for what works for their body.

I can burn 700 kcals on the elliptical fairly easily in just a little over an hour. If I do the legs and Back workout for P90X I can burn 900 in an hour. It is entirely possible.

Some days I tend to eat this way. There is a term for it, I believe it's called the "warrior diet". Google it and I'm sure you'll come up with some interesting reading.

You should "graze" on some protein! Do you eat chicken or turkey breast? Beans? Tuna? Tofu? These are all great sources of protein. You should really try to get as much protein as possible through real foods. Only then should you supplement with a whey protein powder--or something similar. |

Wow...this post seems to have gotten extremely personal. I understand the emotions involved in someone suffering but I'm not certain that this woman is in the state of being clearly underweight, losing hair, or the like. At least the OP never stated such things. I think if the OP speaks about this situation to her superiors, they can handle the situation in the best interest of the woman AND the club. my .02... |

Maybe this person is a marathon runner, or the like, and doesn't have any desire to lift weights. I still say that if the head trainer of said gym wants to intervene, so be it. You can bring this information to his/her attention and be done with it. As many posters have stated...she paid for her membership and is free to workout provided she isn't endangering herself or others. I hardly think 2-3 hrs cardio per day is really endangering herself. I'm NO professional, but there are many ppl in the world that do at least that much cardio--it's her choice.

To be honest, I'm not sure it would be accurate enough for the 24 hr period. I have a Polar F6 that I use for every workout, but from what I understand, when your heart rate dips below 80-100 bpm, they aren't as accurate. I've honestly never worn it 24 hours a day but I do recall some posts of ppl who have. You may want to contact the manufacturer once Santa brings it (provided they're not chillin' at the North Pole).

Holy Crap lovemym_m, VERY NICE!! U go! I just got sick of seeing myself sitting at the bar drinking (almost every day after work) and eating my good friend (Jimmmy the chef's awesome fattening food. I was a GREAT athlete back in the day, and let myself go. I had already been diagnosed with HBP and I was on a collision course with heart disease (or worse). It was just time to reclaim myself! NO drinking, changing my eating habits completely, and working out 6 days a week as INTENSE as possible. I figured...what's an hour a day gonna really hurt me. I'm not doing anything (beneficial) anyway. Today I can't see my life without exercise. It's wonderful!

Like GI Jane said...Don't panic! Perhaps you're not, but your posts sure sound like you are. You don't have to spend $$ on workout DVDs. Go to the Fitness forum and look up Melkor. He can give you all kinds of FREE ideas for working out at home. If you haven't already, I would suggest going to the local public library and checking out (workout) DVDs. Even the small town that I lived in growing up had them! It sounds to me like you're trying to target areas on your body to workout--again, I may be wrong, but you mentioned crunches specifically. You should try to work in some cardio as well as weight lifting. Cardio: Jog around your neighborhood. Do something fun (like sledding!) Yes, sledding is GREAT exercise! Make a little game out of getting back to the top of the hill quickly. Weightlifting: You can use heavy vegetable cans, or plastic grocery bags with "stuff" in them as weights. One thing we ALL have is our own body weight. pushups, wall squats, virtually any calistenic in the privacy of your own apartment. Many of the previous posters have given you great "food item" tips. Always check the grocery store flyers in your area for sales. That's a great time to buy (and freeze) your meats (beef, fish, chicken, ground turkey, etc.) Good luck and just go for it!

I usually cook my salmon about 10 per side...then I make blackening seasoning and pan sear each side when it's through in the FlavorWave. That with a side of wild rice (I've only done rice on the stove...) and asparagus...DELICIOUS! I've made potatoes by cutting them up in cubes, placing them in a Pyrex cooking dish with some olive oil and some cajun seasoning (no salt...) I'm a big fan of spices, so virtually everything I make has cayenne, mustard, red pepper, black pepper, cumin, thyme, etc. on it! I'm a spice fan! |

I have the "Flavor Wave" oven (quite similar) and I cook all kinds of things in there! Cornish hens, chicken, turkey bacon, potatoes, salmon filets...etc.! I rarely use my stove or oven for many meats or vegetables. I absolutely love it...and to think I purchased it because I watched an info-mercial. lol!

Kate, I tend to be the same way about having certain things CONSUME me! I do take fish oil regularly--but have never been formally diagnosed with OCD. In some ways it tends to help with things. I became quite an accomplished pianist as a child (into my adult life) because I absolutely OBSESSED over practice!! I practiced 2-3 hours daily and felt extremely guilty if I didn't! I now feel the same way about my "fit quest". :/
As littleshellys suggested, you can make an appt. with your doc if you feel you should. Good Luck!

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
Take the Diet Profile Test and learn to avoid the pitfalls and self-sabotage that often come with your personal profile.
