Foods Movie Theater Popcorn Nov 20 2009

God, I haven't ate movie theater popcorn since I was 12 if not younger and I'm almost 23 now. I never really cared for it. (Thank god, apparently. :P) The thought of that popcorn laying there for god who knows how long kind of seems unappealing. The way too much butter on it and salt. The hands of the workers scooping it out with the utensil and using their hands to keep it in the bag. (who knows if they clean them?) Then to make matters worse I can't even believe it when people go and drench more butter on it (the stuff looks nasty. Ha Ha.) Not to mention the price they charge way too much. My guy eats it sometimes and always complains about the price. When I go I usually don't get anything, but I will occasionally sneak in my own drink. Just not my thing. When I did eat stuff there I usually went for the Sour Patch kids or something along the lines of it. Ahhh...the burned roof of my mouth from those little sour crystals....way more worth it then that stale overpowered buttered crap that I can make ten times better at home. :P

Awww...*hugz. I would probably do the same thing!, I wont lie. Lmao!

After asking one of my past dietitians (she's the head one in a local hospital.) she said the lowest healthy weight for someone who is female and 5'3 is 107 pounds. Which is a BMI of 19 or so. Hope this helps. :)

Edit to add: I got most of my compliments when I was around 113-117 pounds.

Ooooh...Yumm-O! These looks great. I'm a pumpkin fanatic! Ha Ha. I also agree that they look like little pumpkin Reese's PB cups. That's an idea for the Reese's company! (but probably bad news for us. :P)

Thanks so much! :)

I've also wondered this! Ha Ha. I only know of two other people from around my area that are on CC (though I'm sure there are many more.) but I've never seen them at the gym I attend. It does make you wonder if some people there recognize you though. :P

I know this is a little too late now, but for future reference. If you do have plans and do tend to over eat and most importantly are not actually hungry then I believe the best policy with people is honesty. I know it's a little embarrassing, but just tell them the truth that you got a little carried away (I'm sure they will understand I think everyone has done this at least once in their lives.) and are no longer hungry for dinner. You could always suggest to do something else like get together and watch a movie, go bowling. Whatever you can think of and if they still want to eat you can meet up with them afterwards to do the other parts.

Don't feel too bad, the next day is always a new day. Just don't bake so much at once and you won't be so tempted. Ha Ha. Kind of like people who can't buy certain things because they know they will get carried away with it. If you can't resist the urge then just don't have it around. But, eh one day (or a few) won't kill you.

Sorry to offend Jules. I am not stating it's ALL men in the construction field. I'm only talking about the majority of the ones that degrade women. Obviously yours is a true gentlemen who does have a brain since he doesn't speak like that. Again I apologize. It just angers me how crude some guys are.

Glad you're feeling better AFAB. :)

Wow...I don't know what's sadder here. The fact that the girl is so young and now won't get the chance to live and finish out her childhood, let alone teen years or the guy who is 19 and had sex with such a young girl. Yuck.

Some men are just crude and with a comment like that is very likely he is not very educated. Real men don't talk to a woman like that EVER.

If it makes you feel any better I would say "Yes, I do have one which clearly by your mannerisms suggests that you don't because clearly I have a brain."

He's probably just bitter he's working a crap job because he couldn't find anything better and has a small peen where the only brain he has is located. :P

I'm sorry this happened to you. *Hugz. Some guys are just a**holes. Just put him down on your list of idiots you pity and then forget about for more important things to think about in your life. :P

Foods Favourite childhood concoction Nov 15 2009

Hmmm...My mother said when I was little I use to like mustard sandwiches...just mustard slapped between two pieces of white bread. Ha Ha.

I use to like toast with butter and cinnamon and sugar on it. I would eat this for breakfast at a friends house and crap I would have at least 3 slices if I could.

I use to love miracle whip, tomato and lettuce sandwiches.

Vanilla ice cream with A LOT of cocktail peanuts, actually..I think there were more peanuts then ice cream! Lmao.

In school when they served us bread sticks I would pull out the inner bread and roll it around in my hand and make bread "dough" and eat it, actually, I would do this with regular white bread as well. (not really a concoction, but something I did often.)

None of these are really weird (at least I don't think..well the mustard one is..lmao.) but these are some of the things I remember. :)

I think the idea of studying or doing homework in those 2.5 hours is a great idea. Is there a library near or around the area? If you like to read you could always go to one and read a book to take your focus off of the other people and *escape* to a different place. :)

Weight Loss Meridia and Doctor prescribed me to eat UNDER 1200 cals a day... Nov 05 2009
01:47 (UTC)

In a sense I can believe this because I've heard of many doctor's telling patients to eat as low as 800 calories a day. I really don't think this is the healthiest way to go about it either.

You can eat lower then 1200 calories, BUT the main purpose to eat that amount is to get adequate nutrition and vitamins from food. Without them your body is going to be severely lacking, not to mention you will be very low on energy. You can eat 1200 calories and still lose weight, you can even eat more then that and lose weight.

Truth of the matter is, doctors arent really experts when it comes to the nutrition field. I've learned this from many doctors I have seen. I'm with others and suggest you get a second opinion. I would even recommend more so that you see a nutritionist someone who actually studied the field of nutrition and the amount YOUR body truly needs. I think you would get better advice.

Definitely don't go by this plan you are going to be miserable and lack a lot of energy. So I'm with others, get a second opinion.

Honestly I think my nerves would be so shot from the thought of death that I wouldn't be able to eat, but the possibilities are endless...

I had to laugh at my fiance though I asked him what his would be and he said an ALL YOU CAN EAT buffet. That way he could keep eating and eating and they would have to wait a very long time before putting him down. Lmao.

I definitely like the Antidote suggestion. ;)

Lmao...I always found celery makes me quite full and you can eat so much of it and still have calories down in the low. Plus it really doesn't make you want to eat much more until your next meal. :P

Weight Gain what types of food best help with weight gain Nov 01 2009
21:52 (UTC)

Everyone gave great advice. I would just like to recommend one snack I really enjoyed when I was on a weight gain diet.

1 or 2 oz. Block Cheese (Mozzerella, Cheddar, Colby Jack..etc which every you like best.)

1 oz nuts (could be mixed, natural almonds, walnuts, again whatever you like.)

0.5 to 1 cups of mixed fresh or dried fruit. (which ever you like best as well.)

They would put it in a bowl for me and gave it to me as a snack between my meals. Nutritious and really good too! :)

Fitness Funny Things I've Seen At the Gym Nov 01 2009

Ha Ha Ha...All of these are pretty interesting! I haven't really encountered anything too funny per say, but I've found something pretty inspirational. There are two elder ladies who are regulars at the gym I go to and they believe it or not mostly focus on the weight machines. I tell you, you haven't lived until you've seen two old ladies at the gym working the pull up bar! I don't even do that! Puts me to shame. Lmao.

One time on the elliptical I was going at a regular pace then Nickelback's "Just to get High," song came on and that song always pumps me for some reason. So to the tune I started going faster without really realizing it and in the process my cord to my headphones grabbed one of the inner bars of the elliptical and bam off goes my headphones! I was pretty embarrassed as a woman was right next to me...so I just said "Oops!" and kind of laughed and the woman just kind of smirked. Teaches me to get amped to a beloved Nickelback song. Ha Ha. ;)

Weight Loss eat because it tastes good... Oct 28 2009
20:48 (UTC)

I've had the same problem besides the stress/depression/anxiety and boredom...I just loved to eat, I loved the taste of food. I was never hungry since I would eat at reasonable times (and a lot of it!) Hence why I had a binging problem for awhile.

Now I will not buy tempting foods. I just won't bring them in the house because I know better. If someone else brings something I like into the house I make a mental note that says "They bought that food for themselves so it is theirs and not mine." Knowing it belongs to someone else keeps me away from it.

I totally agree that you should not deprive yourself and I don't either. I would most definitely say in the case of any snack food that may cause you to binge that as soon as you put your groceries away that you immediately portion it out into little bags and set one bag out if you plan it into your meals and snacks for the day and put the rest away out of sight until the next day then you can bring out another bag, etc.

I tend to just not buy the stuff. If I want something bad enough I will go out and buy ONE. I totally love bagels and cream cheese because of this I will definitely not buy the bagels at the store that come with 6...because chances are I will end up eating 2 or 3 in a sitting or be overindulging every day on them until they are gone. So if I want one I will go to a store that serves  them and purchase one as a special treat every now and then. I find this helps as usually when you buy treats at the grocery store they usually come in bulk.

If I am at the store sometimes I'll look for lower calorie options of a certain food I like that way I can incorporate them into my daily meals each day without the guilt.

You can definitely treat yourself every now and then and it will not hurt you, but you just have to know your limits on what you personally can or can not do.

Good Luck. :)

I'm actually having the same problems now with the knees. I love using the treadmill and alternating between running and walking, but I've had to opt for the elliptical lately because my knees have been killing me for about 3 weeks after a good regular run. I don't really have any advice other then I know your frustrations. I just say to myself that it's better to get "some" activity in rather then none at all. Either way you are doing your heart/mind/ and body well.

It may be the shoes you are using, I am questioning mine, but who knows? It could be something worse then I can imagine and I'm not going to have my knees snap in half until I know for sure. Heh. I'm also flat footed which I have read is more troublesome for runners. Are you as well, perhaps?

Like I said I can't really give you any advice, but to lend support and let you know that I totally feel your pain. (quite literally. :/)
