Mad at you?  What a biatch!  Haha, but really, eating is such a social thing that some people get uncomfortable if they're doing it alone when they're not alone.  I know I do.  We should definately keep tabs on each other through out the semester.  Don't be weirded into eating, it's the most awful feeling afterward.

Hah, I pull that at fast food places all the time.  I guess I don't really "pull" it because it's true. McDonalds makes my stomach churn 50% of the time, so I'm weary of it.  Lord knows I love me some 10,000 calorie McDonalds' breakfast if I'm hung over.

I know exactly how you feel.  Last summer I lost 20 pounds, and gained it all back in school.  I was living on campus for first semester, though, so I think that had a lot to do with it. Now I live a couple miles away and walk/bike (or ride the bus when it's gross out).  I had a meal plan that I HAD to buy and so wanted to use it up, right?  Well campus food is not good for you.. at all.

So here's my plan this year:

Eat breakfast.  I never ate breakfast, and I'd get there and be starving by 11:00 and eat there.  So avoid that hunger by eating riiiiight before I leave.

Pack a baggie of veggies or fruit or anything really as long as it's healthy.  Bring that with me and have an extra bottle of water at all times.

If you're going to be living on campus, try to find a way out of a meal plan (if it's required as it was at my school) and just go grocery shopping once a week. It'll be a little extra work, but it would suck to lose all of the ground you've gained in becoming fit.

Good luck!

I'm FedExing them to you right now. :)  I sent the cake to work with my fiance and froze most of the cupcakes.  Do cupcakes freeze/unfreeze well?  I sure hope so.

Even though that would be just amazing, no, not really for the soup kitchen bit.  I'm trying to get people to eat a cupcake with each beer they consume, but they seem to think that's a bit much.  :P  The cake I could throw away easily, but grandma made these cupcakes from scratch -- someone has to eat them!  I don't care if it's a giraffe!

Young Calorie Counters Ladies in ur 20's who really need to loose some actual weight... be my friend, I need support!!! Aug 01 2008

Hey!  I'm a 20 year-old college student looking to lose about 60 pounds (I have a thick frame, so it's hard to tell what my "healthy weight" is; I got them big hips and .. lady bits).  I'm a full-time student and work as a tutor at the university.  I know what that lack of support is like.  My fiance is a super-fit garbage can that eats extra to keep up weight... so while I'm eating a single portion (which is surprisingly small when you measureeee!) he's eating three or four and my friends love to go out to eat.  And then there's me.  I love those fatty coffee drinks.  So, hello, let's be friends. :)

Do you typically get breakouts during or right before your period?  I had bad acne for a long time, and it's starting to clear up on most of my face, but I have awful hormonal acne.  Along my jawline and my chin, I break out days before I have my period and it takes two or more weeks to clear up.  Then, of course... again.  I was switched to Ortho TriCycline Lo by a dermatologist, because it would "help."  Go figure, I just noticed five years later he's an idiot.  It's Ortho Tricycline, not Lo, that has been proven to clear up hormonal acne.  Dunce!  The key for me is to just drink an extra 8 oz of water a day for whatever your water intake should be and wash your face 3 x a day, morning and evening with whatever regiment you use, and in the middle of the day when you get home from work with semi-hot water.  Good luck!

Foods Water on cereal? Aug 01 2008

Not only do I think that it would taste awful (probably just from how it's been beat into me that you put milk on your cereal) but if you use that little milk, it would probably hardly help your calorie intake.  Also, milk is goodAll those ad campaigns aren't pulling your leg -- milk is great for you.  Perhaps you should consider doing something else, like replacing all of your sugar with Splenda or making sandwiches with romaine lettuce instead of bread.  But don't cut out on milk--just cut down to skim.

You should consider speaking to your doctor before you go off trying to lose weight.   Click on Tools > BMI calculator for an idea.  If you still are unconvinced, perhaps you should see a counselor. Take care of yourself and don't let your diet get out of hand. I've had two friends with anorexia and it was awful to watch.

1. Calorie Count Name (user id): sammasaurus

2. Name you prefer to be called in discussions: Sam is just fine.

3. Age & Sex:  20 year-old female

4. General Location: SE Wisconsin

5. Married? Single? Engaged! We both just turned 20 this year.  We want to

get married soon, but we also want to wait until we're 21 for the sake of

our honeymoon and buying alcohol for the family at the reception.

6. Kids? Furbabies? Iiii have a pet snake. :) I want a Bengal kitten! I cannot

get one juuuust yet, though--I'd have to move first (stupid apartment!).

7. Favorite color? Lime green is my favorite, but bright orange (like the preview

    button!) is also super-good.

8. Favorite movie? This question is simply impossible. Not because I'm a movie

fanatic, but I just am bad at making decisions like this. I do really love Garden

state, though, and Jungle Book is tops.

9. Hobbies? I'm a full-time student, and I love it. I started off in Chemistry, but

I'm an English student now. Strange, I know. I work as a tutor at my school

and with a high school student; I also work for ChaCha.  I'm a photography

junky, and I refuse to buy a car because my bike and the bus take me

wherever I need to go.  I also have three tattoos, and am hoping to get

more soon.  I love ink.  Gorgeous!  If you've got tats, let's exchange pictures!

10. Favorite Snack? Fruit salad and beef jerkey are pretty much amazing.  I also

love anything that mixes sweet and salty, like chocolate covered pretzels or

      marshmallows melted onto saltine crackers.

11. Favorite Beverage?  Ice tea and Koolaid are nomnomnomulous.  If it weren't

for my conscience, I'd drink chocolate malted milkshakes all day.

12. Biggest Obstacle to Getting Healthy?  I just like food too much, and going

out for food.  I indulge in fatty coffee drinks too much, as well.  I'm pretty

much the mistress of useless snacking, and I'm trying desperately to break

that habit by recording anything I think about eating and looking at the

calorie count for the day before I eat it.

13. Weight/Fitness Goal?  I'd be happy if I could lose 50 pounds, but it'd be

advisable if I lost about 80.

14. Least Favorite Household Chore?  Cleaning the bathroom -- gross.  I hate

everything about it, from the chemicals, to having to "touch" the toilet, to

the back-aching bend to clean the tub.

15. How did you find Calorie Count?  No idea.  I signed up for it some time last

summer, but I ended up working about 50 hours/week, and forgot all about

it after a while, so here I am again and hopefully I'll stick to this recording

bit (which worked last year; I lost 15 pounds during the summer, but of

      course I have it back--booooooo).

16. Anything Else You'd Like To Share?  I suppose I'd like to make some "diet

friends" so I have some support. My fiance is super-healthy and in great

shape, so it's not like he'll be working against me, but I think he's too lenient

with me.  He'd never tell me not to order Chinese food (oh my goodness,

num) or that I haven't gotten out for exercise today and need to get my ass

out, you know? Oh the cons of love.  So that's why I'm posting -- I'd like

some people to sympathize with and be my personal cheereleading team.

I'd love to be your cheerleader, too.   :)   I'm all about doing something

     positive for yourself.
