yes, i am totally fine to exercise. i've been eating a lot without working out and i feel completely okay. i'll eat anywhere between 1800-2200 calories a day usually. |

thank you for all of your advice! so far i have been doing well, waking up earlier and working out. and devilish, i actually did go to the gym twice on wednesday! i feel a lot better and its only been three consecutive days. i already feel more energized. i am really hoping to keep this up and am pushing myself.
giabash- great advice. working out in the morning right away makes you feel so much better and ready to take on the day, and of course you don't need to worry about losing motivation to go later on.
devilish- i find that i do need to set some sort of goal. i really don't have many for right now. i am of a good weight but i would really like to tone up my midsection a little bit. no educational goals this summer besides to keep reading so my brain doesn't stop working. haha
oreo- great idea to involve other people in your workout. i actually went running with a friend the other night, my second run of the day. only a mile and a half but it felt like a breeze! my brother also just signed up for jit jitsu (sp?) so i'm considering doing it with him.
thanks for the advice guys. i'll keep you posted :) |

| Health & Support | What can I do to stop "emotional binging?" | Mar 31 2009 01:25 (UTC) |
8 |
honestly, this is me to a T. i had a binging problem, serious problem, and often would purge afterwards. i got prescribed lexapro to help control my depression and anxiety, and since then, i have not ONCE overeaten, or binged/purged, due to stress. i think preventative measure is key. i especially like the medication because even if i do get anxious/depressed, i am able to rationalize better and not feel so out of control.
i am not saying medication is right for everyone, but look into it. its not a cure all but it definitely has helped me. good luck. |

Thank you.. I think I'm on my way. I'm 5'2", so I have a BMI of 21.2 :) ..I feel like I'm going towards the right direction. Yesterday. Moe''s Southwest Grille opened and they were giving away free food, so I decided to have a burrito with chips and salsa.. and I know it isn't the best thing for you, but it tasted amazing and I had no regret (funny how most 20 years olds would never think twice about that)..I truly hope I am on the successful path! And I hope everyone else the best too. I feel if I can get on the right track, ANYONE can. Truly. |

| Health & Support | anyone here with gastritis ? | Feb 23 2009 23:52 (UTC) |

Have you been prescribed anything to help relieve it? I have gastritis and I was prescribed Nexium in order to reduce acid reduction. It has helped the pain a lot and I no longer have to avoid foods. Consider seeking help from a gastroenterologist. Good luck! |

| Health & Support | Nexium + gas, etc. | Jan 17 2009 23:52 (UTC) |
|
I am taking Nexium because I have "gastric erosion" as well as a "granulated duondum(sp?)" but I think its just for the gastric erosion. Basically I have acid reflux and a weakened stomach, so its to reduce the acid in my stomach to help it heal. I have a check-up with my doctor this coming week so I am going to see what she says. I've looked it up and it DOES say that it may occur, but my gas, flatulence, and bowel movements are so often an severe that I don't know if its okay... too much info, gross I know, sorry hah. |

I'm horrified as well. I am 5'2" and weigh about 110 pounds, so I have a healthy BMI. I do want to have children one day and I'm scared. I'm very active- should I just stop running so much? But still, I only about 15 miles a week, more or less. |

They are all right- you can choose where you lose weight, obviously. However, ever since I started running, I pretty much have all muscle and no fat on my legs. My legs aren't bulky, they are very toned. A well balanced diet is absolutely necessary as well for any type of weight loss. God luck :) |

thanks for all the great ideas. |

| Weight Loss | i'd like to give up | Dec 09 2008 13:50 (UTC) |

this happens to me. I come from a LONG LINE of bingers and unfortunately I developed a disorder from it. In recovery, whenever I'd get upset over something (mainly my ex boyfriend) I'd reach for the cupboard. And then I'd stop myself, put on gym clothes, and go to the gym and run. You just need to have the willpower to say NO! Channel all your negative energy into something positive. I know the last thing that sounds appealing is the gym when food is on your mind, but if you JUST get the will to do it- I promise, you will feel so much better. And then the next time it happens, you can say NO, remember how good it felt last time to channel all my negative energy into exercise?
Good luck :) |
