HI everyone, I've just spent a few minutes trying to catch up on everyone. I reread back a few pages of posts. Lucy and Sue, I am sending prayers your way for for your moms. Suzenf, I know how you feel about being away from your family. I am the same and it feels pretty rotten especially when someone is not well. For all of you who are going through health issues, I hope you will be better soon. Lucy, did you find out if it's the gluten? Connie, I have been away so long...who is Bobby? Is he new?? lol Any person who brings cheesecake HAS to be a good person! Tammy - what's the Alli??? Daryl - I don't think we've met. Hi and welcome. Same to any new people that I haven't yet read about. I've been in this forum for awhile but have been playing hooky. Hi Adarana. How have you been? And to all others who peek in once in awhile, what's up? As for me, as most of you know, I have been fightning breast cancer all year. My last mammogram and visits to the specialists all look good!! I have been trying to get back in shape. I bought a new bike and I am loving it. I started in June to commute to work (about 5 kms) and this weekend I am going in a bike run fundraiser for MS. I will be biking 88 kms on a hilly terrain. I am a bit nervous about it but also very excited. One of my high school friends has MS and cannot walk anymore. I am doing this for her because she can't and I want to feel less helpless about it. I am going to put a link to the web site that shows the route I will be riding for anyone interested in looking. http://www.mssociety.ca/atlantic/biketourNS.h tm I am not really losing weight despite the biking because I EAT A LOT and mostly junk!! There are a few things going on in my life that cause me a great amount of stress. I would appreciate some advice on how not to stress out when the ones you love the most are having problems. Any hints?? If I can keep exercising I may not lose weight because they say muscle weighs more than fat (???) but I am going to fit into my pants better. That is my goal> Oh I am also in a play this summer at a historical site calles the Fortress of Louisbourg. I will try to post a link to our web site. If you get to it, I am the person wearing the weird queen's mask with the big paper blond curls. It's lots of fun and really good for keeping my memory sharp. For the link, just go to the English link at the bottom and then you can see a bit about the play and go to the link to photos from our rehearsals. Missed you guys. Hope to talk soon. Sorry I rambled on but it's been a long time. Janet Janet |

Hi everyone, Do you remember me? I've been gone so long. I see there are all kinds of new people. I haven't had time to read and catch up on everyone but I just wanted to pop in and say hi. I'm still alive and kicking. Life has been EXTREMELY busy. I hate to have neglected this group cause I love you all. I'll try to come in more often. I hope you are all doing well with your weight goals. I'm doing so-so but I'm exercising again, my surgeries are done and I have no more excuses so I bought a bike and I'm gardening. I have to go now cause I have a practice for a play I'm in but I'll try to read up on all of you soon. Take care Janet |

Hi everybody, I'm popping in to say I hope you are all ok. Needless to say , I have been busy beyond reason. I miss you all....I just haven't been keeping up with our posts. I'm in a play at our local library, the travel group I organise leaves for Europe in 22 days, we are constantly fundraising, I have a student teacher for 6 weeks , I am involved in school and regional social studies fair, I am facilitating a writing group and I still have to cook, clean, teach and try to sleep sometimes. So ....anyway...I truly hope everyone is doing well. My weight is not the best but it's not too bad. Happy spring... Janet |

Hi all, Adara- My painting is on hold for a bit while I work on other projects. My husband and I travel to Europe with students every spring and that is in 49 days so it's keeping me hopping. I feel pretty good actually. Started walking again this week. I was able to do 1/2 hour almost comfortably today. I'll gradually get my pep back. Truus - Pretty soon you'll have no inches to lose anymore...good for you. I'm really proud of your efforts. I remember when you were always feeling sick. I hope you can get that catch up post up because I still get people confused sometimes because when you go by the real name and the sign up name....well it doesn't take much to get me confused about names. I think teachers wear out the part of the brain that is used for memorizing names. lol It's sunny here today in Nova Scotia and I'm lovin it. THe birds are finding their way back . I hope you are all having a great day. Janet

Hi everyone, Wow, anniversaries, upcoming birthdays, weddings ....what an exciting life! Happy anniversary to all. I have not been counting calories....HELP! I DID go to Yoga class on Monday. That was fun and I'm going back. The teacher was a bit far out there for me but it was very relaxing. I also went to try Reiki. Did anyone ever try it? It was free at the cancer center. I liked it...don't know if I'd go regularly but it was, again , relaxing. Hope you all have a great day. Janet |

Tammy, Tru and Sue - you are inspiring me to go walking again. Good for you ladies. Lucy - I wish you the best. Congratulations. Have a blast. How many calories burned for painting kitchen cupboards...lol! If it's equal to the amount of time it takes, I'll be very skinny... Janet

Hi all, Sorry I've been a stranger. I just read through the posts since I've hibernated. You are right Adarana...I am so sick of winter. I didn't realize you are Canadian?? As for my treatments. I finished last Monday (March 9). I am very happy to be done, however the side effects are worse now than when I was in treatment. They said that is normal. It's just swollen and sore. I am really tired and am having trouble sleeping. I am a worrier by nature unfortunately and I am worrying about some family members that are having some problems. Needless to say, I haven't been eating the best but I'm not doing horribly either. The worst is this fatigue. I will start exercising again soon. This Friday, I am going for a Reiki session at the cancer center. Does anyone know anything about it?? It's free for me so I thought I'd go try. It's March Break now and did I ever need it. I did not take time off work during treatments so I really needed the break. Do the American states have a Spring Break ? And what about your country Truus? Missed you all...I'll try to visit more often. Hope you are all happy and healthy. Janet |

Hi everyone, Sorry I don't have anything to add to the tea discussion. I don't like hot drinks of any kind. Only apple cider, that's it. The flavors you are speking of sound yummy but I can't get used to tea. Alylou, you must live in the arctic. It always sounds so cold where you are! I was down to 139.5 today. Go figure. Sometimes I wonder if my scale is all messed up?? My ultimate goal is 135 ...if I ever get there I'm having a party! Ice is melting so hubby and I should be able to start walking again soon hopefully. Hope everyone has a great day. P.S. 10 treatments done. 6 to go!! Woohoo! Janet |

Aly - that is great! Thanks for the great video. You look like one of the students!! Connie - You have such a good sense of humor. You can do anything you want to girl . Good luck! Tammy - nice to see you again. I don't have a burn yet but it's getting pink. Does your hospital have good support systems or your mom? I think quite a few of us are having a tough time lately. Evening eating is one of my downfalls. Join those of us that are getting back on track. We'll do it together. Janet

Aly - sounds like a beautiful spot. Breakfast was bran cereal and blueberries. I ate 1300 calories today. I NEVER do that. I'm always over. I won't do it every day but it was ok for today. Nice to see your food ideas. I'm a pretty plain Jane when it comes to food. Janet |

HI all Suz and lucy, adarana - thanks for asking, the treatments are going ok. 5 down, 11 to go. My skin is starting to get a bit red but all in all , it's going fine. I'm not glowing yet! alylou - you sound like the coolest teacher ever. get it?? Coolest....lol. Brave too! Connie , aly, lucy, adarana - I need to join you too in your new resolve. Ok......start logging tomorrow since today is almost over and I can't remember what I ate. I'm think I'm back to my original weight too. Grrr , grr and grr. Adarana - I'm not surprised that your cursor jumps around. Does anyone else have that happen to them?? Ok as I sign off, I promise to go back and see my scale who has been a stranger to me for the past 2 weeks. I will get the bad news and make a promise to myself to lose 1 pound by next weekend. I will do this by cutting back sugar and logging my calories again starting tomorrow. Janet |

Hi everyone, It's been awhile. Busy, busy... Adarana -it seems like we have a lot in common. I also can't wear watches very wel or any other jewelry for that matter - it pulls at my skin...I can't describe it any other way. I also have a problem with my laptop. The cursor keeps jumpng around on me. It seems like we're magnetic!! I haven't started writing a best seller but I am writing my life's story to have it for my kids and possible grand kids someday. We have a group of 6 women who get together and encourage our writing. Like a writing club. Also, adarana I am not having chemo (thank God) just radiation ...and I'm starting tomorrow. Tammy - I am praying for your mom. Truus - you are truly one of my heroes. I want SO MUCH to be where you are and not have the cravings. I know it means stopping sugar like you did and I can't bring myself there yet. Good for you. I am getting better than I was and I hope to join you someday. Haiko I also found it a pain to keep logging calories and I've stopped ...unfortunately so has my weight loss. It also has to do with this ridiculously cold and icy winter so I haven't been walking. Good luck with it...you sound like you will make it. I , on the other hand, will probably have to start logging again. Wesmoot - I also wish I could help you. Just a suggestion, check your sugar intake. Make sure the calories you are eating are healthy calories. I know I have to stay away from sugar, salt and all those good things. Keep exercising and eating healthy. It will come. Also, don't be ashamed of posting your information. Be proud of your efforts. Peace, Janet

It's nice to hear from everyone. Reading your 10 random things is great fun. What a story alylou! Connie, you should never feel like you need to explain your love of cats. I think it's wonderful that you love your cats so much. I should get into this Weigh in Wednesday ... last time I weighed myself it was 140. I'm up and down. I'm not exercising ... My radiation is starting February 16 and will last 16 days. They've given me tiny, pin point size tattoos to direct the beams. My first tattoos guys!! lol. I would love to be able to go see musicals. There are none where we live. I'm envious. I did see Mamma Mia when my husband and I went to New York a few years back. So fun. I'm going to see Religulous tonight. Anyone seen it? Janet |

ok...here goes...10 random things... 1. My 2 sons are grown up. I don't know how that happened so fast. 2. I am a water witch...I can find water and metal using divining rods. I can also tell you how deep the water is underground. 3. My first language is French. 4. I have never smoked, drank coffee or tea in my whole life. And not because I'm a health nut...just don't like the smells. 5. My hero and my all time favorite person in the world is my dad. I call him papa. 6. My husband and I will be married 25 years this summer. Good and bad times, we've made it this far. 7. I've been in 7 plays in my life...including the Mouse Trap. I'm starting a new one tomorrow. 8. I have a secret dream of being a singing star. Some days it's blues, other days it's country and others it's opera. I can't sing well enough but hey I can dream. 9. I cry for joy in the spring when my plants start to pop out of the ground. Sometimes I still roll in the dirt of my garden when it's starting to warm up and no one is looking. 10. My younger brother was lost at sea in 2006. I miss him. It's fun to read all your 10 randoms... |

Truus - My son actually says he's getting used to the cold...even goes around with his jacket open when there's not too much wind. Go figure! I think he's becoming numb...lol. alylou - Where can I get a bathrobe like that? Can you elaborate on that money you found in a pocket?? You have me curious. Oh I just read that lucyalus and momo have the same question...lol. Beautiful new picture lucyalus. Thanks for the prayers and hugs. They help..they really do. I'm sending you the same to help you cope with your situation with your daughter. From one mom to another, I know that you are feeling her pain more than you feel your own. Take courage. I'll have to do some thinking for the ten random things...I'll be back. P.S. Went to another movie tonight ... Taken... It was good but scary at the same time. Janet |

Hi all, You know it's really difficult to keep up on everyone's news if you don't check in everyday. I just read your posts since my last sign in. Sorry I can't comment on everyone's news but I wish nothing but the best for all of you who are having struggles and congratulations to all of you who are doing so well on reaching your goals. As for me, I have gone back under 140 but it's unfortunately because I got a stomach flu for the past 2 days and I can't even look at food. If only I can stay under 140 ... I met with the radiation oncologist yesterday and I will be starting radiation soon. It will last for 16 days (week days) and after that I will go on a drug like maybe Tamoxifen. I hope that doesn't play havoc with my weight. Oh well...I guess I'd rather have a bit of weight on than have breast cancer come back!!! For all your Super Bowl fans, have a great weekend. I, for one, don't know the first thing about football. My husband watches it though and he loves it. Sunday I will be a football widow. I tried to understand it but I don't get it! I'm not much of a sport fan anyway but here in Canada the only sport that we're born understanding is hockey. Tru - Don't laugh. I probably went to 2 movies since my last post. The last one I just saw was Paul Blart Mall Cop. And I got the SMALL POPCORN even though all my friends got the large one upsized!!! I got a few looks because of that!! Take care, Hunkered down with the stomach flu in the frozen North, Janet P.S. For all of you northerners like me, can you beat this? My son in Inuvik is currently sitting at minus 26 fahrenheit? (minus 32 celsius) BRRRRRR

Sue - I've seen Bride Wars (was allright), Yes Man (hilarious!), Bedtime stories (pretty good), Gran Torino (really good but hard to watch at times), Marley and Me (too sad for me) and I'm going to Paul Blart Mall Cop soon. I know ...that'a a lot of popcorn but it's my only form of social life really...sad but true in the winter. oh Alylou - Thanks for telling me the calorie count of popcorn ...man oh man ...I've got to get another habit! Does it help if I don't butter it??? What do the "good" people do out there? Does anyone bring their own healthy snacks that I might like?? Oh Jasmine - I just read your post with the popcorn calories...yikes! Congratulations to all of you who are maintaining a weight loss. I had not been doing so great but I'm getting my second wind and I've lost a pound or 2 since Christmas. I need to walk and it's soooooooooo cold. We are trying to find a good indoor walking space. For those of you who have stress in your lives, good thoughts are coming your way. We are all there from time to time and it sure is hard. We could become millionaires if we could find a way not to eat when stressed. Truus - if cutting our hair helped, maybe we should all go the bald look? lol Hi to everyone else - keep warm if your North like me and I'm jealous if you're more South...lol. Janet

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
