My gowear fit says I burn a lot more than I thought I was but after an initial 5 pound gain from increasing my cals I've been steadily losing one pound a week for the last 4 weeks so I'm almost back to my start point and hopefully will keep losing. Before I would always platuea at 123 but then I would be so hungry I'd binge and anytime I didn't count I'd always gain, lately folling my fit I'm eating 1900 work out days and 1500 non with one day a week "free day". I can check back with you and let you know on if I'm still progressing, you can friend me. I'm 5'4" 21 yrs 126 as of saturday. My fit says I burn 1800 - 2200 non-workout days and 2300 - 3000 on work out days. My workout is 45 min run 3 days/wk 75 mins yoga 2x/wk and one hr long brisk walk. I also walk a lot m-f since I am an inspector I'm on my feet all day at work, I get from about 10,000 steps in on work days and then whatever I run or walk on top of that. EDIT:: I also have a polar F6 and I've found it odd that for my runs I'll burn from 350 - 400 cals so technically If I take my sedentary (1800) plus that I should only be at 2200 but then I'll end up with like 2500 or 2700, not sure if that has to do with the "afterburn" effect or if it's that I walked more that day also.. Not sure I only use the HRM while I run then it's off. |

I have a polar F6 and I love it! It has one of the chest straps that monitors your heart rate and a watch display. It's accurate and also lets you see your total burn every monday for the last week so I found it helpful, I got it off ebay for like 65 bucks brand new. |

Hello!! I am 20 5' 4" and 125, I just bought a gowear fit (body bugg) and I burn 2600 calories on my days where I run for 45 mins and on days I do no extra workouts but still log about 10000 steps I burn 2200 so I range from 2200 - 2600 depending on activity, this has been super eye opening for me because I also was undereating at 1500 and if I would eat more I would jump up a few pounds before it leveled off. I'm now aiming for 1600 - 1800 depending on activity and this is for weight loss I'm hoping, I'm not going to weigh myself at first just so I won't get discouraged, I know I'll gain a pound or two at first but then once it gets all settled I should lose so maybe you should look at buying a gowear or body bugg, I am very surprised at my high burn but It's becasue I'm under 21 I think. |

| Weight Loss | BodyBugg or GoFitWear???? | Jul 14 2009 18:03 (UTC) |

When I was doing research, I read, I think on Amazon or in a forum that a lady with a gowear and her friend with the body bugg do a boot camp class together and they tested the accuracy by starting them at the same time before class and checking after it was over and there was only a 5 cal difference (they were both similar height, weight age) So I bought the gowear since it's cheaper, I also read on a blog that tested the Bugg that the same company makes both. Hope this helps! I bought my gowear off ebay for 158 with the 3 month trial subscription and I know the body bugg is on sale for 199.99 from 24hr fitness but with this code AFPBBJ63 at www.mystore.24hourfitness.com/ it gives you an extra $10 off and free shipping, so it's 189.99. Hope this helps, also neither come with the watch display and they're 99.99 for body bugg but I found some of the gowear fit on ebay for 58. |

I know how you feel, I am the "heavier" of the children, my sis is 112 and I'm 125, not heavy at all!! Perfectly normal but I mentioned that I hadn't worked out in a couple days my dad looks at me and goes, "well, you better not let that go any longer" like if I keep skipping I'll be huge! I just pretended not to hear him but I was on stay-cation and my gym is my work gym, an hour away. When my sister gained a little weight, up to 120 omg, my dad told my mom my sister was getting fat and my mom agreed! Rude, other than that I love them but both are far too superficial. |

For people aiming to lose inches and not so much weight technically, I recommend weight training, I got a lot of my routines from the abs diet for women, it has a whole section with different exercises to do and what parts they target, squats, lunges, row, tricep extensions, bicep curls, overhead press, wall squat, moves with those stability balls for abs etc.. It's awesome and when I started doing weights I was like 128 and a size 7 or 9, now I'm still only around 123 - 126 but I fit from 3-5 jeans so it helped me lose inches even if not weight, ;) again here's the Link to my group for girls like us - short and with a goal weight in 120 -110: |

Would you gals maybe want to make a group out of this? I am 5'3" and want to be 110 - 115 depending on how I feel when I get there. I also work out 5 days a week usually the elliptical for an hour, I am 126 as of this morning, I went on a fun-filled vacay and gained 3 pounds, I was 123, dang, I started at 138 back in september of last year, it has been super slow going. Holidays and bdays set me back, in my family I was always the big eater so it's tough to get out of that habit when I visit them. My sister just recently lost a little weight and looks awesome at 118 and 5'5", I want to look as good as she does but that lucky duck doesn't even have to exercise! I just really need help to stay on track, I plateau at 123 and right now I just want to get to 120 and then I'm going to get a massage and pedicure for all my hard work. But i get frustrated when I do so good and see no results. My bf is trying to be supportive and told me he'd buy me a promise ring as a reward when I hit my goal of 110 so I really want to get there soon! |

| Health & Support | anybody tried the master cleanse? What was your experience? | Mar 23 2009 17:10 (UTC) |
33 |
I tried it and I lasted only 3 days and technically I cheated the whole time any way, I would eat one oatmeal granola bar (90 cal) a day. I felt bad and I even ended up puking up my syrup/cayenne/lemon juice on the 3rd day which is why I gave up and ate. Also it doesn't make you poo, you have to drink water w/ sea salt or some special tea. I drank the tea and it didn't make me go. I would not recommend it, I lost 3 pounds on it but when I started eating again I gained 4 back so it was a wash. So now I'm just doing it the right way with a 500 deficit a day that I'm getting through exercise and eating 1500 I now have lost the 4 I gained back but I did it the healthy way. I'd say the cleanse was the stupidest thing I ever tried. Even my boyfriend called me an idiot! |

For breakfast I like total but I do NOT like soggy cereal, so I found online (they have stores too but I ordered my stuff): http://www.containerstore.com/browse/Product. jhtml?CATID=74067&PRODID=10022692 It's for cereal on the go, the top part holds I believe 1 1/2 cup cereal and the bottom screws off and you freeze it (there's this gel stuff in the walls that freezes) and in the morning put your milk in and screw it to the other piece, keeps the milk seperate and cold until you want to eat, even has a spoon included in the lid! I also got a cool salad tupperware that has a seperate reservoir for dressing! I pack my breakfast and lunch the night before, I start work at 6 so I'm usually not hungry til 7:30 so it's more conveniant to eat at work. Here's the link below for all the food-to-go stuff: http://www.containerstore.com/browse/index.jh tml?CATID=74067&howMany=999&viewAll=t rue |

| Foods | Ground turkey instead of beef.. | Mar 15 2009 19:09 (UTC) |

My boyfriend is extremely picky and pretty much always knows when I do something different or change the way I make something. BUT I started using ground turkey instead of beef for my hamburger helpers and he didn't notice at all, didn't even say this is different. So since I had such success with that I even sometimes use it for tacos instead of beef and he still has never noticed :) |

Original Post by healthyiris: Elliptical for 30 min to and hour. I burn anywhere from 500 calories to 1000 on the elliptical.
It also sounds like you're OVER estimating your caloric burn for the elliptical, I have a heart rate monitor and when I do my elliptical for an hour, and at a vigorous level, I burn only about 500, if you are going off what your elliptical's reader says for calorie burn that's probably where you're getting error. Those are never right. And I know mine gets up way higher than my HRM so I don't pay any attention to it. It's way less accurate. I would log it on this site and you'll see at a moderate level on the elliptical for an hour only gives you a burn of about 450. So if you think you're burning a thousand and your eating according to that then that's probably adding to your plateau.

Hey, I'd recomend doing intervals if it's fat loss you want, I alternate in a range from 3.5 to 5.4 mph and I try to switch it up every 1-5 minutes, It helps to keep your body "guessing" and to keep your heart rate up. I have a polar HRM and with that routine (I do an incline when I'm @ under 4 mph but I know you dont want to go that route) I end up burning 330 for 40 minutes, If I keep it up for an hour I can burn about 500. Hopefully I've helped you out. Oh and fyi I'm 20 years, 5'4" and 123, I'm trying for 110 by june, Since Jan I've lost 8 pounds going this route and trying to eat healthier. I cycle my calories, I don't eat the same every day, generally 1800 - 2000 fri, sat, sun when I do an hour work out and during the week 1200 - 1700 depending on if I work out. If you need any support / motivation, let me know! We're pretty similar in stats :) |

| Weight Loss | Is it bad that most of my calories come from dinner? | Feb 06 2009 16:31 (UTC) |

Hey, http://www.phord.com/cc/ says that I should be eating 1300 calories and burn like 1800, female 5'3" 125, so my question is that even if I work out I should still only eat 1300 calories? My HRM says I usually burn like 330 from my workouts so usually I'll eat like 1500 or 1600 so I don't technically go below 1200, is that right or should I just be eating the 1300? |

| I would like to join too, I'm 20 5'4" and 127 lbs, I lost 25 pounds two years ago cutting out soda and sweets. I'm feeling like I'm good now but I can be better so 115 is my goal, I started counting calories on this website in July at 130 lbs and have added exercise M-F 45 mins, I'm feeling healthier and more in shape just from that but it's been really slow going and I need motivation! oh yeah, jeans size, I'm a 5 with some 3's fitting me since I've been doing weight training, it's really helped to tone and tighten so my clothes fit better. | |||

| I did the rowing machine today and burned 70 calories more than I though I'd been! Never trust the display calorie counters! Except though, the treadmill can "communicate" with my HRM and then the display reads the same heart rate, it's cool but the rowing machine doesn't speak the same language if ya know what I mean ;)
I have not lost any more weight, it sucks, because I am increasing the weight when it gets too easy and with my cardio I alternate treadmill, elliptical and rowing machine so I wouldn't think I'm in a rut. Maybe I just eat too much on the weekends? I don't count or work out on the weekends but I do try to make healthy choices and not go too crazy. I know I said I wanted to focus on inches but it's hard to not see the scale move. |

| I like it too! It's a good group because it's not so much about numbers but being healthy and having the dedication to working out, diet can only get you so far. I was in a group with weekly weigh ins and it wasn't really the best for me because I was the only one weight training and it wasn't so much about weight but I do have an end goal of 115, which I am 12 pounds away from but I think it'd be better for me to just stay off the scale because I'll get caught up. I only have lost 4 pounds since starting cc but since I've added weight training I've gone down a size! So I know I'm losing inches and that's what's important for me.
So, anyway, today I took lunch earlier so I could use the weights before the dudes got in there. I did my full strength routine with some stability ball stuff too. And I still had time for doing the rowing machine. Which I burned 100 calories on! I love that thing!! Hopefully everyone's day is going well! |

| If i'm going to a restaurant, I'll make sure to google their menu and healthy choices so that when I go I already know what to order and if It's in my calorie "budget". Also when I get there I try not to look at the menu because then I could end up ordering something else with more calories just because it sounded so good on the menu. Ha ha, well I did the elliptical for 40 minutes and when I get home I think I'll jump rope, or do some strength training. Depends on my mood. Today was supposed to be strength day but there was three guys playing around in the weight area so I just did elliptical. | |||

| That Unlce Bubba's place looks delicious!! I don't really like lots of fish, mostly just salmon, but I love, love, love crab! It is the best! Lobster is okay but crab is waaay better. I also really love shrimp too. My favorite restaurants are Red Lobster and The Keg, which is a steak house but also has crab, lobster and shrimp. My boyfriend doesn't like seafood so we'll usually do the keg so he can get steak. But, yeah I am so jealous of Twila, getting to go to that yummy-lookin place!! | |||

| So today I did my strength training and I bumped the weight up too, it was hard and I just barely finished but that's what it's about! And then I did 30 minutes on the treadmill on a 5% incline. I am planning on using the rowing machine tomorrow, they say it's a leg workout but my shoulders are always a little sore after. I just like it for cardio, it's quite a workout! But it was hurting my hands so I bought those work-out gloves with the finger tips cut off, I feel like a poser but hey, no calluses for me! | |||
