| Weight Gain | Example of a 4000 calorie menu, backed by popular demand! | Jan 19 2009 19:54 (UTC) |

coming back from the holidays and traveling so much it was difficult to meet my needs, and i lost .. its taken me 3500-5000 to gain last time and i have a high maintenance. mostly after gaining i tried to stray from counting and enjoy cooking and eating again and eating intuitivly. 3 meals and 2 snacks of course but whatever i wanted. but i have lost some weight from the holidays so im sort of counting again. its a little annoying. but heres my favorite bed time snack . it makes 3-4 servings my favorite late night snack paired with the cute duo of bunny grahams.i love the friends forever box.it comes in a tye-dye box and it has all the bunny flavors in it hah. and a couple tablespoons of oh so creamy barneys almond butter and you have yourself the perfect easy to get down snack.anyways for the recipe i use ORGANIC whole milk from trader joes. and for the peanut butter you have to use DARK CHOCOLATE DREAMS PEANUT BUTTER from peanut butter and co. this recipe was specifically designed for that product only, otherwise it wont taste to good. now onto the recipe =]
of course if your lactose intolerant you can use non-dairy alternatives. but it is absolutly delish. and the bunnies add a nice touch.
also in the note of cooking i found this great website and ive been making a dish each night for dinner scince i hot maintenance. but the food is superb its old eastern european food from old historical texts and travelings that this guy came thru its great. you can make anything and its so easy because it has pictures. and it really enfocuses on appriciating food . heres the link http://fxcuisine.com/Default.asp?language=2&a mp;orderby=date&orderdir=desc&pg=1
best of luck to all of you. ill be posting some more here. scince i see new gainers that i havent met yet. -meesh<3

yeah lala was right with the weights. they work wonders. swimming also helps you work your entire body. 30 minutes a few times a week along with weights and keep eating should put you in the right position. and eat and eat well to fuel yourself swimming is no joke even 30 minutes is a good burn along with a good after burn. |

| Weight Gain | dealing with hunger? | Dec 09 2008 19:19 (UTC) |
|
you may be hungry due to how your making your mealplan. really eating every hour may not be key you need to learn how to space out your meals with a good porportion of calories. breakfast-700 snack-300 lunch-600 snack-300 dinner-600 snack-300 it could also be the foods your eating recovering anorexics need a good amount of fat especially saturated fat. im serious dont be afraif to switch to whole. you'll find that you'll be able to think clearer and you wont be so prone to relapse. |

do half an hour of lifiting weight 3-4 days a week or so. from gaining weight and being a 105-106 5'6 with a D cup size bra. im getting the body of a pornstar and its awkward. hahaha but i agree with everyone else if it goes to your bum then do squats. personally im a big advocate for swimming it works out your arms and legs and core all at once. and its entirely low/no impacts it gets your blood flowing. and its so meditative. but you need to eat well for it. i do 30 minutes in the morning and am eating 4k. so you have to replenish your body well. |

Original Post by holbee: i did 30 minutes of swimming in the morning everyday. yes it helped becuase before i was doing none and i needed better blood circulation throughout my body. it was light swimming almost meditative. i would definitly ask you mom for the fish oil capsules. they are amazing its the essential fatty acids that will help your body trust itself again to have a proper bleeding. dont be afraid to take double to triple the dose. just do what feels comfortable |

Original Post by holbee: holbee- i just googled it for you and heres what came up " What are the consequences of osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis bone fractures are responsible for considerable pain, decreased quality of life, lost workdays, and disability. Up to 30% of patients suffering a hip fracture will require long term nursing home care. Elderly patients can further develop pneumonia and blood clots in the leg veins that can travel to the lungs (pulmonary embolism) due to prolonged bed rest after a hip fracture. Some 20% of women with a hip fracture will die in the subsequent year as an indirect result of the fracture. In addition, once a person has experienced a spine fracture due to osteoporosis, he or she is at very high risk of suffering another such fracture in the near future (next few years). About 20% of postmenopausal women who experience a vertebral fracture will suffer a new vertebral fracture of bone in the following year" personally i got my period back after a major relapse taking a omega fish oil capsule my doctor gave me. actually i kind of took alot of them. well there wasnt anything that said i would get sick from it if i did from the bottle so i just did. i wasnt counting calories in them, i guess i just pretended they didnt have calories as i knew they were going to be good for me. the bottle said take 1-3 a day but i ended up taking 3-5 after every meal/snack hahaah. along with a pre-natal vitamin and im sure that the 30 minutes of excercise in the morning had alot to contribute to me menstaring again. i was actually able to get my period back and manage to get my hair to stop falling out in around three weeks from starting that. |

have you ever considered taking fish oil capsules?along with a pre-natal? its best to have at LEAST four bleedings a year to avoid osteoperosis in the future. if you havent had a period in a long time you may need to speak to your doctor about inducing a period. |

Original Post by wistfulxthinking: its different for everyone but i got mine at 16.6 ( 103 lbs)eek. im not sure if that was healthy or not. i just took these omega three ratio capsules of fish oil capsules my doctor gave ( i kind of O.D. on them) (shh) hahah no but seriously i took three after each of my six to seven mini meals and along with a healthy diet and a pre-natal my hair stopped falling out and got shiny ,my period came back in about 3-4 weeks. from a major relapse. i didnt gain much weight either nor did i count the calories in the capsules. i just pretended they didnt have calories i guess but it did me good. i also swam for 30 minutes each morning i guess that helped circulate blood through my body. i do consider swimming more of a womens sport and that it gets your hormones back into tune. i just got that feeling. |

| Weight Gain | Support please, I just started Maudsley method! | Sep 16 2008 17:10 (UTC) |
|
hey, okay i did maudsley back last year in augsust. how old are you by the way? so there going to feed you right? trust me it really isnt that bad , you just need to talk to your parents about what your comfortable with. my parents were taking me to dennys and giving me "grand slams" till i sat them down and schooled them on the importance of nutrition, daily intake of calories and hoe much more i was already consuming than the average teen. i also told them that i liked giving them the control, but if they can please respect my wishes and my body aswell. theres really not much you can do though. trust your parents . heres a forum for maudsley parents and children.: http://www.websitetoolbox.com/mb/laura Edited Sep 16 2008 17:14 by coach_k Reason: fixed link |

ugh! i sympathize, its as if with the eating disorder you can at least have some control over your body and now that when you recover you have no control, no boundaries. its like jumping off a cliff. its scary. its worth it though. keep on pushing for it. if your border-line depressed make sure your getting adequate sleep and at least 30 minutes of sunlight for vitamin D. you might also consider taking a 5htp supplement. i dont speak much about this to anyone, but ive tried to recover many times. and i will keep on trying, when you gain weight you think more clearly and have more energy and are over-all more happier(in my expirience). but getting there is hard, ive landed myself in psychiatric wards for trying to commit suicide, im also diagnosed manic-depressive. because i was just going out of control with the fact if i was able to recover or not. and if i ever would be. and it was just so horrible. i dont know how but i gradually pulled myself out with big help from a hypnotist,my parents, regular visits to the beach. choose life. your body will settle naturally somewhere. it may seem like you have everything to lose, and that you will ruin everything you worked for. but you wont. trust me you really wont. |

i agree with horace, you need to see a psychiatrist on this one, also side effects vary from person to person. seroquel-known to cause weight gain didnt do anything to me. and tompimax (known for weight loss) felt like it made me hungrier. |

you know what it really boils down too is what YOUR okay with. how much food can you take in so your being well nourished enough to keep on living, but a good enough quantity to not scare you and cause a relapse. i personally began eating a pretty big calorie quantity because i felt like i had nothing to lose in my life. i just wanted to be healthy and my hair stop falling out. i was also not that underweight to begin with. i started at 102 lbs. and now im nestling between 107-108. but to me i just didnt care how much i gained or not i just didnt want to feel like i couldnt get out of bed anymore. even though i was 102 i guess i just wasnt "healthy" enough my diet of only toast, vegan ham and iceberg lettuce i guess wasnt providing enough nutrients =]lol so i began eating. and now i maintain somewhere eating 2600-2800, i try to vary my options as much as i can. but thats where i get stuck sometimes. i just need variation. my brother on the other hand who recovered from anorexia (both of my brothers were diagnosed anorexics) doesnt eat much. but he's at healthy weight. he doesnt have a problem with variety. actually yeah, he doesnt really eat carbs. but when he wants to he eats them. he doesnt cry over meals anymore. but he eat so little in my opinion. when we stay at home and help out the parents, he just waits and doesnt eat for hours and hours, probably half a day, then he will eat a meal. whatever he's in the mood for wether its chicken wings or a carrot. he gains weight really easily too. and he doesnt like to eat till 3-4 pm everyday. i guess in a few ways he still has disordered eating. but he isnt as bad as he was before(thank god). a few times a week he has these really big meals like an entire pizza or he'll drink straight half n half cartons or he just eats ALOT and i mean ALOT for a day. and he feels sorta guilty but he doesnt let it bother him too much. afterwards he'll go for a run for a few hours or play guitar but i guess thats the life he feels okay with. he feels okay eating that much, anything different will make him relapse. he's okay with eating minimum. it keeps him sane i guess. whatever works for you though. whatever your comfortable with and as long as you can stay sane and maintain a healthy body then go for it. i like food, always have liked food, im okay with eating good amounts. yeah, sometimes it gets to me, but i jump right back on track. it just depends on the person. |
