not sure if someone has answered this already... but i recently went on birth control because i hadn't gotten my period in over a year (it stopped when i stopped using birth control previously) and i am at a healthy weight, so low weight is not the reason. my doctor prescribed me birth control because she said that not having your period puts you at even GREATER risk for ovarian/ breast/ cervical cancer (even more than the increased risk there is from taking birth control).

B: two bowls of quaker squares cereal with skim milk and banana; mate tea

L: carrots and hummus, wheat thins and hummus, banana and peanut butter

L2: oatmeal with blueberries

D: romaine lettuce salad with parmesan, avocado, tomato, croutons, in lemon vinaigrette; soda crackers and popcorn with truffle oil (at work) ginger ale with bitters (also at work)

didn't eat very balanced today... was on the go all day!

B: banana and peanut butter

B2: oatmeal with crushed almonds and brown sugar; starbucks grande nonfat chai tea latte

(work out! 30 minutes on the elliptical... thank god.. i've been slacking for months)

S: luna bar, large orange juice

S: odwalla bar, banana

D: english muffin with peanut butter, grape jelly, and a banana

S: wheat thins with one slice provolone cheese, salsa, and a little hummus.

way too many carbs and not enough variety today! oops.

Haven't been on here in a while!!...

(yesterday)

B: fage yogurt with pb and j mixed in; banana; mate tea

S: luna bar

L: two whole wheat english muffins with hummus, avocado and tomato; spinach with balsamic

S: mate tea; banana

D: romaine lettuce salad with tomato, avocado, garlic croutons and parmesan with lemon vinaigrette; piece of flat bread

S: chocolate martini ;)

Upping my calories because I've been walking a lot more (new city!) and working out more, too...

B: oatmeal with peanut butter, coffee with coffeemate

S: apple and yogurt

S: carrots and hummus, banana and oatbran granola bar

L/D (right before my night class): whole wheat grilled cheese with mozzarella, red and green peppers, pesto, spinach, artichoke hearts (from a local bakery mmmm); green tea

S (during class): Fruit and nut bar

D/S (after class): fage yogurt with peanut butter and frozen blueberries, half a grapefruit, peanut butter chocolate ice cream sandwich by skinny cow.

Haven't been drinking as much water or eating as much fruit and veg as usual lately... i'll try to get back on track tomorrow :)

Hey, welcome to running!  I've always been told that new runners (or runners that haven't ran for a while) should run more often than they think they should for less time than they think they should... 8 miles seems like a lot! I've been running for a while and I still only run 3-4 miles 3-4 times a week!  I think that the couch to 5k plan does a pretty good job of introducing you to running. Further, marneedear is right about the strength training, I have ran with strength training and without, and I definitely felt stronger and had less injuries while simultaneously running and doing strength training than I did while just running.

L: small apple, yogurt, two rice cakes one with cheese and one with peanut butter, dark chocolate, green tea

S (pre-workout): apple, fage yogurt with blueberry preserves and peanut butter

D: (post-workout): ended up going to sushi instead! one vegetable roll, one seaweed salad roll, miso soup, edamame, tea... (the works!)

S: nonfat chai tea latte

yes! i love it! this morning I did a "muscle max" class at my gym and by the end of it my arms were aching... already can feel i'll be sore tomorrow... but a little stronger :)

Usually I get oatmeal (they have really good oatmeal at Starbucks now!)... but if i'm really craving eggs, i'll either have an egg white omelette with veggies or i'll have two pieces dry whole wheat toast with two eggs sunny side up (which would still be only about 400 cals!)

S: cauliflower.

S: ice cream treat.

went on a late run....

(pre-run S): rice cake with peanut butter, granola with almond milk

I usually like running outside, but when I do run inside I make sure to put the treadmill on an incline of at least .5 ... I heard that this somewhat simulates outside running!

I don't feel bad about eating eggs as a vegetarian, since they are unfertilized and therefore would just be wasted.  I do however make sure that I get organic eggs that claim (and I hope truthfully! though it's so hard to tell where you food comes from these days...) their chickens are cage-free and roam happily around the farm!

- that I love working out so it's never that hard to get to the gym!

- that no matter how bad of a mood i'm in, it will usually pass within an hour or so and i do a pretty good job of pulling myself out of it!

Heyy,

Just thought I'd say that I was in a relationship for 2 1/2 years a couple years ago... and looking back I think I stayed in the relationship for the last 6 months out of comfort and not completely understanding who I would be if I weren't with him (since we had been together for so long... if that makes sense...).  If he at any point has made you feel insecure about the person that you are, than already there is a problem.  Regardless of whether he claims that that's in your head or that he gives you nothing to feel insecure about... your insecurity is still a reason to either talk things out (which he won't) or take a break from the relationship.  You owe it to yourself to be happy all the time, and you should get rid of things in your life that are bringing you down!  If he really is your soul mate, you two will find your way back to one another eventually.  The person you're in a relationship with should be adding happiness to your life.  When the quantity of bad weighs out the good, even if the good is really good, you have to question the relationship.  You seem like you have a great head on your shoulders, I'm sure you will work it out fine (:  Let us know how it ends up!

S: oatmeal with brown sugar, nuts, and dried fruit from starbucks with a grande coffee with half and half and sugar.

S: babybel cheese and an apple

late Lunch: half a sweet potato roll and an entire vegetable roll, fortune cookie

D: romaine lettuce and spinach salad with cucumbers, beets, carrots, broccoli (some other veg i don't remember...) with balsamic vinaigrette

S: frozen yogurt with chocolate hard dip and reeses (mmmmm!)

S: half a bottle of red wine oooops :) whole wheat english muffin toasted with peanut butter.

- frozen yogurt, ice cream treats (lately i've been eating two of those slim-a-bear ice cream sandwiches a day... full of preservatives EEP!)

I usually try to eat something an hour or so before I go to bed... otherwise it will be hard for me to go to sleep.  But I can't eat TOO soon before I go to sleep, because I can't eat on a full stomach.  Also, if I go to bed even the slightest bit hungry, my body wakes me up starving the next day! sooo annoying.  Today is my sleep in day but my body woke me up at 7 am because i was so hungry!

You could also try doing some pilates!  I've recently started taking a class two times a week and I definitely feel leaner and think I look leaner.  I like it because it's like yoga but you break more of a sweat and I'm usually sore the next day!
