Hey Keri - we have the opposite problem with the same result:)  It's officially climbed into the 100's for the last week and the heat can just zapp you of any and all energy.  I used to walk around the neighborhood in the morning - but it's in the 90's by 10am - and in the evenings you'd have to walk sometime between 12am and 2am:)   So it's been the air conditioned gym for my workouts - sure hase gotten more crowded there too - must be the weather:)

I do sit ups everyday - stomach muscles recovery very quickly.  I only do push ups when it's my "chest and back"day for weights - I need the recovery time in between workouts
Fitness what do I do with this ball? May 13 2006

If you're having trouble with pushups on the ball try pushups this way:  You'll need a basketball

in whatever positon you're using (knees or toes on the floor) place one hand on the ball and the other on the floor -  do your set of push ups keeping focus on your posture. Switch to the other hand and do your next set.  When you get good at this- try the ball again:)

Like dcgirl - I use the ball for chest exercises - you can also work your legs pretty well. Place the ball against the wall and lean back into it - at about the small of your back slowly squat down keeping your upper torso parallel to the floor (dont bend forward) and raise back up. You can do this standing on one leg also - but it helps to have someone in front of you to balance your hand on so you don't fall over:)  Another leg exercise is to lay on the floor and balance your ankles on the ball and place your armsunder you on the floor for balance. Raising your hips up off the ground - slowly roll the ball to your butt and back... start with 2 sets of 8 - you will feel this believe me!  you can use it for sit ups too!

there are so many ways to work the ball - i love mine - especially on days when I can't get to the gym!

great source of protien - horrible source of sugars:)  I totally agree with Sparkles - in moderation it's fine. If you're looking for protien - try fish/ eggs / lean meats / nuts (almonds - etc) / even Oatmeal is a good protien source.

It's bar-b-que season here - we grill everything!  Salmon - I usually place on a piece of tin foil - spray with butter flavored PAM - add some thin sliced onions (if you like onions) throw in some fresh garlic and a little bit of wine - fold the ends over like it's a pouch and put it on the grill for about 10-13 minutes (depending on the size of your fish) - we usually grill some veggies to go with - very healthy and yummy!

Hey Natalia - I know what a shock this has been for you - you're only 20 - you're baby is still a baby but I can't tell you how happy I am for you - you're an amazing mom and wife and you have proven to yourself that you're in control of your weight not the other way around.  I'm secretly jealous - although hubby and I are done in the baby department - I confess... I loved being pregnant (all 4 times:) so I will have to live vicariously through you:)  Congrats!

Bethy - funny you should mention the ring thing - Tallen wears one also that represents "waiting till I'm married".  I am so proud of what a strong, independent young women she is becoming - she's a 3.85 student and a very talented singer - all of that is enough to keep her busy.  A friend of our that teached the 8th grade has 3 students which are expecting - down from the 4 he had last year. Scary.

Pooh - you'll be a great mom - you already are!  I love my girls - I thinkgirls are easy to raise - but I don't have any boys to compare too:)  One thing I pride myself on is being an "Askable parent" - means my kids can come to me with anything, but they also know that I am a parent first and their friend second:)

I can certainly empathize with you - I have 4 girls.  My oldest is 16, we have a rule in our house - no dating until your 16 (35 if you ask my husband:) and even then it has to be with other couples - no 1 on 1 dating - but it certainly has helped with cutting down the drama of "boys".  I think middle school is the hardest as far as pressure and having the "boy crazies" goes.  She did occassionally have an "in school boyfriend" - but even they were just someone to walk to class and what not - nothing serious.Since she's hit high school and even though is now officially old enough to date - it's kind of worn off and she's more happy with just having a great group of friends.  Not to mention she now has college on the brain:)   Of course I still have 3 more to go - so I may be singing another tune in a few years:)  Keep me posted:)

night time is my problem area too.  I usually put all leftovers away so that I'm not tempted to snack. I, like slappy, try and make dinner my bigger meal - tends to hold me over longer.  If all else fails - I keep low cal options like yogurt, a cup of applesauce for a snackie:)

you can get them pretty much anywhere - Target / Big 5 / Wallmart and most sporting goods stores have them - you can usually find them in the fitness or yoga area.  The most common sizes are 75cm / 65 cm/ and 55cm.  No weight restriction  - but they recommend getting one appropriate for your height. I'm 5'10 and have both the 75 and 55cm.  They are awesome to your your back/ abs / hamstrings - love them!
