This has been my  experience as well.

To the OP: if you wish to learn about a lot of different religions, you might look into attending a Unitarian Universalist church.

I had heard about vegan faux chicken I thought, but not about a burger. Maybe I got it wrong though. Either way, I'd at least try it. *shrug*

Ladykelien, I don't see anyone on this thread judging her. Saying she looks gross is not a judgment, just an opinion. Saying she's a bad person because she looks gross would be judging, LOL.

Vegetarian Veg*ns, do your friends and family cater to your needs? Aug 11 2008

Original Post by tankgirl124:

I'm not veggie/vegan either, but very seldom eat meat as I simply prefer  the alternatives.  I'm more than happy to prepare veggie alternatives when friends come round, but I've often wondered...as a vegetarian/vegan what would you do if a meat eating friend was coming over to dinner and asked for you to cater to this dietary requirement?

Just curious...

:)

Unless that person is feline, they don't  require meat. I do not prepare meat in my home, so my friends know they would have to bring their own. I'm never had anyone actually do so, though, as I make some pretty kickass vegan meals. Tongue out

agreed, coffin.  it doesn't change my point: the vast majority of men who are raped are raped by other men.

again, i'm not saying that women can't be perpetrators.  just that it's statistically much less common.

I agree with this.

No, I think everyone should be a healthy weight and fit; it's more pleasant to look at normal people than obese people...

I agree with the first half of your sentence, disagree with the second half. But, regardless, wouldn't you agree that not everyone here is using calorie counting to be at a healthy weight? I've only been on here a few days, but I've seen plenty of posts from what I would consider pro-ana people.

Foods grits??? vs oatmeal Aug 10 2008

I agree, they both have their nutritional strong suits. Do you like polenta? If you like polenta you'll like the taste of grits, though some people are not crazy about the consistency.

Put it back in the pot to simmer with large chunks of potato. The potatoes will absorb the salt and can be discarded.

Ladykelien, what's worse, Bible-thumping door knockers, or the 'local wiitch' who bursts into the church and starts ranting and raving?

I am an atheist BTW and thump no Bibles. Just trying to use an analogy since this is, you know, a thread titled 'question for moral veg*ns' in the Vegetarian forum...

I will be honest here - I am a little sexist. I prefer females to males in every aspect of my life (even children). In addition, I do not trust men competely, especially straiight men. This may be TMI, but I'm pretty sure my attitudes were shaped by multiple instances of sexual abuse as a child, so there ya have it. I don't treat boys or men negatively, but there is a bias.

I don't try to convince others to give up animal products. When asked, though, I definitely explain about factory farming, including dairy farms annd battery hens (and their male chicksCry). And I certainly don't curb my enthusiasm when people I know take steps in a veggie direction. Laughing

I wonder, though, if message tees and tattoos are considered 'preachy.'

I'm thinking you're thinking about sesame sticks.  Are they a couple inches long, flat, and a rusty medium brown. If it is, those are pretty fatty and have a lot of ca.lories. http://www.nowfoods.com/?action=itemdetail&am p;item_id=3223

This just in, PETA does something outrageous.

In other breaking news, most people who come to the CC forums are concerned about their weight.

Now, we go live to Cyndi Shaloub, reporting from the National Institute of Science, where it's recently been discovered that objects on Earth, when dropped from a height, tend to fall towards the Earth. Cyndi?

ROFL. Cool

Eating under 1200 calories a day is not healthy, and your body will go into 'starvation mode' and hold on to the fat is has even harder.
