| Young Calorie Counters | another ques for college students.. | Aug 13 2008 23:03 (UTC) |

It really depends on your class schedule and your living situation. I try to arrange my schedule so that I have some time between each class [usually about an hour] in which to make a small snack or make a quick run to the grocery store if I need to. Most dorms have a kitchen, but they're not always very easily accessible, and I certainly wouldn't trust the fridges there enough to leave anything in the kitchen. In general, I eat 2 main meals and a lot [3 or 4] smaller snacks throughout the day, but that schedule works for me. If you really rely on your fridge that much, then I'd suggest getting a small-ish dorm-sized fridge. If you don't want to buy one, many schools let you rent one from them for a fee, but it's cheaper in the long run just to buy a fridge. As for the cafeteria, some universities have a wider variety of food selections than others. My school is tiny [2000 students], so it can be difficult to find healthy options; a lot of times I have to forgoe the main food stations and stick to the salad bar [they have a station for grilled chicken and stuff right next to it, so it's not so bad]. I'm guessing you're going to be a freshman, so good luck! It's a ton of fun.. |

I have one of those too! Except mine's a hot Korean guy named Tae-woong. Don't worry about it too much--you know this person isn't real, and she's serving a useful function. And I don't have any name suggestions, but you could always browse baby name sites for ideas! |

Name: Kara I just started last week, but I never realized how many calories I eat on a regular basis until I started logging them through CC. I'm hoping to lose ~15 lbs in time for Halloween, but we'll see how that goes. |

I seem to be a little late for this thread, but I may as well throw in my two cents. My dream vacation would be a sweep of Southeast Asia--Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, and possibly the Philippines. Then again, I'm pretty much obsessed with the area, so..yeah. :) Do some research on climates before you go anywhere, though. I don't know about those other places on your list, but it gets pretty wet in most Southeast Asian countries [Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam come to mind] starting around May-June, and you want the best weather possible for your vacation. Let us know where you decide to go, and have fun! |

| Weight Loss | Damn damn damn. What do I do now? | Aug 12 2008 22:30 (UTC) |

At least you won't be tempted to binge on food! When my friend had mono back in highschool, her appetite was so diminished that we pretty much had to force feed her, so I wouldn't worry a whole lot about putting on weight. Besides, you're going to be very lethargic for several of those weeks, so you won't even really want to exercise. Just worry about getting better and don't concern yourself with much else. Also, does your gym have a refund policy? My dad's old gym has a refund policy about cancelling your membership early, which was nice when my dad injured his back a couple of years ago. As for the college thing, the mono will be winding down when you get there, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Just tell your professors that you're still getting over mono and they should go easy on you for the week or so. Good luck on your freshman year! Mine was a whole lot of fun [I'm starting my junior year in a week]. |

| Young Calorie Counters | Favorite And Least Favorite? | Aug 12 2008 02:31 (UTC) |

Favourite: My face and my neck--they're perfectly suited for each other, especially when I actually use good posture. I also love my wrists and the area around my upper breastbone [above the breasts] for some random reason. ^^; Least Favourite: My thighs and my booty. They're flabby and jiggly and I hate them. I also have one ear that sticks out. It bothers me a little, but I'm coming to terms with it as I get older. |

I'm only mildly lactose intolerant, which means I can get away with a slice or two of cheese or some milk in my cereal [I can't drink it after I eat the cereal, but I use it to moisten the cereal]. This isn't usually a problem for me, since I've never really liked dairy products to begin with. I have a friend who's extremely lactose intolerant, though, and he has these pills that he takes every time he eats a dairy product. I don't know exactly what they are, but you might ask your doctor. |

| Foods | What do YOU do with bean sprouts? | Aug 10 2008 23:10 (UTC) |

I'm addicted to bean sprouts. :D You can do almost anything with them--raw in salads, stir-fried, cooked with your noodles, put in your omelettes, whatever. I myself tend to prefer them raw, because they're nice and crunchy that way. They don't really have much of a flavour, but that just means you can eat them with almost anything. :) |

Because I don't want to be the "fat foreigner" when I go to Korea, and because I want to be comfortable enough to go shopping for pants and not feel out of place amongst all the tiny-assed girls that seem to live where I do. |
