CC's numbers aren't working out for me... Any advice?

Alright... I've been on Calorie Count for a month. I just wanted to calculate my averages and see where I am.

These are my stats:

100 pounds.      &n bsp;     5'4".       ;     Female, under 18yrs

I run about 4 miles a week... it's all I have time for, but I do consider myself active.

So I plugged my info in, and listed myself as "light activity" (I add exercise as it happens).

Calorie-count says I should consume 1300 calories daily to maintain. But my daily intake is anywhere from 1000 to 2000, averaging at 1700.

Can anyone explain? any suggestions?

CC numbers are for adults. Its not ment for people under 18 years
I always eat more than the cc recommends. Geez, with all these calculators, BMIs, bodyfat percentages people seem to stop thinking for themselves. Stick with what you're eating. I think the cc figures are based on the weight: 100 pounds, and not much else.
This is true. If you are under the age of 18 the tools here really don't work for you. There are teen calorie calculators online that you can use. I'll ask another mod if she has the calculators handy so you can check to see what it says for you.

Not only it is not designed to be used by teenagers, you also must have mis-read the results.

I am 5'4'' myself, currently @ 100 lbs. The calculator gives me 1500 for sedentary, and 1800 for "light activity". How in the world did you get 1300??? I tried plugging in a different age, and it gives a 14year-old girl 1600 kcal for sedentary lifestyle, and 1800 for "light activity".

The previous posts are correct in that teenagers need much more than that anyway.  I just wanted to mention that the tool is not that crazy, it never suggests 1300 for anyone of your height!

I have your tools! Look through these to determine the amount of calories you need for your size and body. Also make sure to become aware about your size and weight with the BMI calculator to see if you are of a healthy weight. If you have any questions, make sure to let me know.  Thanks!

Has BMI and below calorie needs for different activity levels...very cool!

Thanks for all those links!-- amazing!

Well... I've learned that my BMI is 17.2, which is healthy.  I should eat between 1700 and 2020 calories daily.  CC says I should eat about 1800 daily.

I also found my mistake----- I used the "Calories to Reach Goal Weight" calculator... so they were reducing by 500calories daily. Using the regular "Daily Caloric Expenditure", I got the right number, 1800.

Just make sure on those active days you add the calories back in that you burn! We're just here to maintain right? On lazy days 1800 should be good, but on work out days you'll want to boost it. Keep an eye on the scale every so often (I don't suggest daily one bit) and pay attention that your jeans fit okay.. and we'll be good :)

Happy Friday!
