Celebrity Weights are reported wrong!

Quote  |  Reply

Do you guys notice that when magazines report Celebrities to be a certain weight, they are completely off?

Like when they show a celebrity at a "healthy weight of 125;bs" they are def more like 105-110?  And then they show the "underweight at 110lbs" it looks more like 95?

I think for me this contributes to my frustration with weight loss becase I'll get down to a weight they say some celebrity is yet my body looks nothing like theirs at all.  They are definitely misrepresenting the weights!

I gotta agree I think they prob do this....think about it, the camera adds '10 lbs' right? So everyone is actually lighter than we think they are.

It'd be interesting to meet some of these ppl face to face and be able to 'compare' just to see a celebrity 125 vs a normal person 125.

I usually chalk it up to height/build differences.

It's definitely height/build differences

but seriously, why compare yourself to celebrities?

A lot of the celebrities that are in shape, do quite a bit of strength training and body weight exercises. Add that to a lil bit of plastic reconstruction, botox, restylane e.t.c here and there and they look perfect! If you doubt it, look at their pictures before they became celebrities and now.

What l don't understand is why a person is striving to look like a celebrity to each his own l guess.

what i don't believe is the pics and weights they show for christy alley. like she'll look much much bigger than i am at 250 and they'll say she weighed like 165 and that she dropped 30lbs and now looks closer to a super model....i just don't believe there was only 30lbs lost there...i don't believe that she was only like 165 and i don't understand how i can drop almost 30lbs and you can barely tell but the celebs can drop 15 or 20 and look like totally different people....

Celebs tend to be leaner than the general population, even at the same weight. And when they have 20 pics to choose from, it's easy to pick the one that makes them look the skinniest/fattest/etc.

That's one thing I guess I'm proud I've never done. The whole "I wanna look like so n' so." Beauty-wise... yeah I wish I was gorgeous like whatsername. Maybe then I'd get a date. lol But weight-wise.. I couldn't give a flamin' hot cheeto. Cool

It's fun to compare outa curiosty, but even so unless you meet them in person, 99.9% of pictures are all photoshopped anyways.

Yeah, their weight is in muscle.

Just don't believe that party about 1500 calories a day... if you work out 6 hrs a day, 6 days a week, you aren't eating 1500 cals a day.

Celebrities benefit by looking hot, and in our society, for women, that means looking skinny. They might get brownie points for being healthy, but it isn't going to get them broadcast into every home in America, and it isn't going to win them an Oscar. Society's relationship with celebrity encourages unhealthy and dangerous weight loss/weight maintenance for female celebrities. I mean, how many real women do you know who drop their baby weight as fast as Katie Holmes and Angelina Jolie? This is in part because it is their job to look hot to some extent, so they invest in the chefs, the trainers, the surgeons so they can maximize their genetic potential. They also face enormous pressure to knock off that baby weight that the general public may feel but is ostracized to a far lesser degree than celebs. I'm not saying people can't be insulting to non-celebs, but try to imagine a bobble-head on TMZ talking about your mudflaps. I know they asked to be in the spotlight, but that has GOT to be hard. I have actually heard people call Salma Hayek fat, which is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. Also of note is that most regular mommies don't have the armies of staff to watch junior while they get into Chaturanga. It is a whole different set of standards and expectations, and you know what? I bet there are plenty of them who actually envy us.

They are paid to look like that.  They have the time and money to maintain a physically fit lifestyle.

anang - Don't think Salma H is fat at ALL! She's gorgeous!

They look hot cause of photoshop
