Does celery burn calories?

I've heard your body uses more calories to digest raw celery than you take in when you eat it. Is this true?

Celery is a "negative calorie food".

Simply stated it is a food that you actually burn more calories digesting than it contains.
Above is a link to a brief article explaining this concept along with some other examples of negative calorie foods.

Definitely items to keep handy for snacking purposes :)

Thank you for the info.
there's actualy a lot of debate on this subject.  some people swear its true, others swear it's not!  i tend to disbelieve that anything in life is negative, food related.  the closest you get is water, and that's zero.  i'm not saying that i know for sure though...

instead of thinking its a negative calorie food, just look at the label.  practically zero calories anyway.  either way it's a good snacker :)

This is a myth.  Sorry.  There are no negative calorie foods.
