cell phone question

My question:  if I call a friend, will he still have to pay for a roaming charge?

He probably does, cuz his phone would still be roaming for signal. Depends on his plan.

ok, thanks.

Roaming is pretty much obsolete unless he has a crappy local plan (i.e. Metro PCS and NOT one of the biggies like Verizon, Sprint, AT&T) or he's no where near a cellphone tower. As long as you're near a cell phone tower, you shouldn't be charged roaming.

thanks.

I'm on Sprint and I had roaming charges (granted I was in Hawaii) last month. If your phone says roaming or digital roam, incoming calls are also the jacked up charge, not just outgoing. It will be a like 5 dollars for a 10-minute phone call... don't know if that is worth it to you or him.

no, it wouldn't be worth it.

I only experienced roaming when I was in Maine and very near the coast. (I think this is similiar to the Hawaii example.) I really doubt he would have them.

he just called and he has a new phone and it's T-mobile, the same as my business cell so NO charges.

no they aren't related. T-mobile is owned by Deutsche Telekom, it's a German company. AT&T is owned by AT&T, and they also have Cingular.

I've got T-mobile and I love it!

I too, have t-mobile and I LOVE IT!!!  They are great!
