Someone told me the other day that caffeine causes cellulite. Is that really true? I just don't see how that's true because caffeine is a pretty big ingredient in anti-cellulite lotions. The person who told me is one of those people who is never wrong, so of course, they insisted they were right even though I'm pretty sure they're wrong.
Cellulite, I believe, is mainly genetic. I don't think caffeine will affect whether or not you get it.
Apparently, caffeine reduces blood circulation. This indirectly contributes to cellulite formation by promoting the storage of waste and toxins in the body.
This is just something I read online from a random website, so you might want to do more research.
I read this somewhere once too - i love a cup of tea, and also find it useful to reduce hunger pangs a bit - am hoping there's no truth in it! Anybody know?
Hmm. I never heard that one before. I do know that too much coffee can contribute to dehydration, and dehydration can increase the appearance of cellulite. Maybe that could be it? Anyway, sounds like BS to me. Cellulite is genetic - I have lumpy thighs because my mom has lumpy thighs. Neither of us are coffee drinkers.
Sounds wrong to me too. I saw Dr oz on Oprah and he said caffeine helps speed up the matabolism which would then work against cellulite. humm..
I always thought cellulite was genetic as well.
Sounds good to me then - i'll put the kettle on :)
dehydration contributes to the appearace of cellulite, and caffiene (diuretic) dehydrates the body..but it doesn't directly cause cellulite, the cause is mostly genetic..i know some very fit and healthy people that have it, its weird
Well, I always had cellullite despite eating 'healthier', 'drinking more water', 'doing more sports' etc... It never disapeared untill I stopped taking birthcontrol pils (extra hormones make you retain fluid, which causes cellulite), eliminated all bad fats out of my food and started to exercise on a regular basis, and guess what? I'm cellulite free! So it's not as 'genetic' as most of us assume, if you work really hard for it, you CAN recude it!
Good luck!
Cellulite sucks and is a total fact of life. If you don't believe me look at all your skinny girlie friends and I would guarantee that even the tiniest of them have dimply thighs.....dammmmcellulite!
I thought it was BS but I am glad you guys think so too! I have just decided, like you, ccforme, that cellulite happens so I am wearing a bikini to the beach next week whether or not my thighs look like they are filled with mashed potatoes! Helpful tip: if you feel like you're retaining water, heat up the juice of one lemon and a little bit of water as hot as you can stand and chug it. Lemon is a natural diuretic, so you'll pee about every 5 minutes for about 3 hours, but when it's over you will be flushed of toxins and no longer retaining water. Is it also true that using one of those little hand held massagers on your problem areas reduces cellulite because it increases circulation?
