Cellulite?

Quote  |  Reply
Hi! I've been here for a few weeks and have really enjoyed everyone's posts. The spirit of community you have developed here it great! I had gone from 210 lbs. at my heaviest to around 130 about three years ago. Recently I noticed I was starting to inch back up so joined the website before things got out of hand. I'm eating a balanced, healthy diet , exercising daily, and close to my goal weight again, but can't seem to do anything about the cellulite in my thighs. Any suggestions anyone?

listening to a reply too...good question...I have some but not much and I am wondering if it will go away when I reach my goal or will I still have it...huggers to the bumpy people
I read somewhere, I really can't remember where sorry, but anyways, I read that it will go away just like fat and everything else with enough cardio, pretty sure it was reliable, but not 100%
Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll just keep running every day and hope it helps!
I hope it goes away...I hope we get more replies on this subject...thanks...hugs
the best you can do for cellulite is firm up the muscles underneath and get them as tight as you can and then burn off the rest of it through cardio. There are some creams and stuff you can use that will help smooth the skin a bit, but cellulite is fat, it's just "looser" so it gets that lumpy/bumpy appearance. I actually have more of it now that I've lost several pounds, but I figure it will go away with more exercise and more loss.
Ugh, I've got that cellulite stuff on my stomach. I'm doing crunches and step aerobics to try and tone my body. The crunches have shrunk inches from my middle in just the short time I've been doing them. I think muscle toning would help your thighs too
Thanks again for the suggestions. I'm doing an hour a week of strength training / Pilates and 2 miles of cardio a day on the treadmill. Maybe someone can recommend a good toning exercise for that area?

Cellulite is not a medical reality. It's not different from regular fat, it's just closer to the skin's surface, so it looks ickier. With a good diet and regular exercise, it should go away with the rest of the fat.
Apparently the creams are a scam.
My understanding is that cellulite is a two-part problem. One is that it is fat - no question. The other part has to do with the structure of our skin. Your skin has to be firm in order to hold the fat flatter. So, as we age and our skin loses some of it's composure, shall we say, the fat shows through more and you have cellulite. So, it stands to reason that the less fat you have, the less cellulite you will have. All the more reason to live healthy and reduce fat overall. Creams will help your skin to some extent, but they are not a miracle cure for cellulite. It is more prominent in women as we age, but weight gain stretches the skin and it doesn't always jump right back into shape as we lose the weight. So, no matter the age, it may show more on women who have gained and lost weight, especially significant amounts.
Once again, thanks for the input everyone. It looks like I'm doing all I can at the moment. Perhaps it's time to take a little of the advise I've seen elsewhere in the postings and stop being quite so critical of myself. After all, I'm eating as I should, exercising as I should, and within a pound of my goal. What's a little bumpiness between friends? ;-)

Definitly make sure you are doing resistance/weight training in addition to your cardio. Many women think the key to weight loss is just in cardio adn that if they lift weights, they will gain muscle weight. It takes weeks to months to see weight gain based on muscle alone. But while you are loosing weight, it is important to tone your muscles as well. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn. Plus you'll have more energy. If you have never lifted before, see about a personal trainer to introduce you to some exercises. Once you've learned enough, you can go off on your own.
I've got a great trainer I see once a week. We do a combination of strength training and Pilates. I'm starting to see a little bit of improvement! Yipee!!!

hello. i cant help but look at this topic because i, too suffer from celluite! i am only 19, im 5'6" and weigh 125. I have always had a thin waist and frame. My legs are not thick but COVERED in cellulite--not just my butt and thighs, but all the way down to my ankles (or should i say cankles) I exercise daily, and have tried everything fro creams to some ridiculous saran-wrap mud contraption. Nothing has worked for me. Some also suggest massage to smooth out these uneven fat deposits, but this doesnt work either. The only thing I found to somewhat work was to get a tan or wear pants! I feel I am a lifetime sufferer.   :(
I'm 5'6" also I never had cellulite until the last couple of years that I quit working out.  I've been back at the work outs since Jan. and have noticed the lumps are leaving.  I think it just takes time to get rid of it and I don't think it ever is completely gone.  My poor butt looks like it took some major hail damage.
Cellulite is a big problem...we all hate it but sometimes no matter how hard you try your cellulite in your thighs is not going to go away we all need some fat in our bodies to stay warm and you know I have a website to show you.. www.DonnaRichardson.com you will not have any cellulite on your thighs they will be nice and lean if you keep working out to that video the video is called Sweating in the Spirit and its wonderful how innovative it is and how its going to keep you in chape and have your temple reved up keep your body and abs toned just try it I know you're going to love it.
Hey, I never really had that problem with my legs. I wear leg weights.. I do a lot of toning work outs with my thighs. I don't know if that plays a big part in that.... But i do work my legs out a lot because i have a odd patch of fat the size of a base ball. It was soft so i went to the doctor about it. He told me it was a fat pocket. I didn't know what it was and how it got there.. But as i started to diet i notice it get smaller and smaller each month. I would wear spandex and you could see this thing jump out at you. I think the added toning has helped it a lot. Try to tone your legs more.  See if that works for you.. Lynn

i have bad cellulite as well but after about a month of running every
day or doing the eliptical every day, it was virtually GONE... not even
kidding.. im not sure how long it will take you because im sure it
varies from person to person.. but i know that as soon as i get down to
about 110, it starts to fade away very fast... however as soon as i get
back up to 115 or anywhere higher... its back full force! haha.. i
think its just fat (well i know it is) and you have to burn it off just
like any other fat thats around your body =)
Kutie5 you are so right. YOU have to burn that just like any fat. When i started to work my legs more. I felt more tone in them. I mean. Then don't even jiggle like they use too.. Now i got some tone wide hips.LOL
I LOVE my Cellulite covered thighs.

Ok, so I'm trying to love my cellulite covered thighs.

I imagine that it probably affects different people differently.  No matter how toned I am, no matter how much I weigh I always have the stuff on my thighs.

Every morning after the shower I rub them caringly with lotion (plain old lotion) and thank my thighs for funtioning as they should.

I close by saying IF anyone finds a miracle cure in the mean time, please let me know =-)
