Hey everyone! I'm not super big but my body just loooooves to hold onto fat! And has a hard time adding muscle... it's a genetic thing, my mom and brother have the same problem! I'm about 5'1"1/2 and 124 lbs. I'm trying to lose weight but I don't think my weight loss is going to help me get rid of my cellulite on the back of my legs. I also want my booty to be high, firm, and with more muscle so that it can be bubblier and "plumper". Is there exercies or diet changes I can make to get rid of my cellulite and make my booty plump and firm? Keep in mind that I'm vegan!  I will be so greatful for any tips you guys may have! Thanks so much.

...anyone?

hey sorry it took so long to post.... I have really seen  difference in my cellulite reduction by doing taebo for 20 mins or so (7mins 3xs daily) and really watching my fat intake. Also, i heard drinking lots of water helps! Good luck, I know cellulite sucks!!! ;) but we all have it :(((((

If you burn more calories than you expend your body will have a hard time holding on to fat.  To reduce the chance of your body buring muscle do some weightlifting as well.

As for your butt, your body is what it is.  You can add muscle or loss muscle but you cant really change your body shape.  So if you want a butt with more muslce work your glutes, legs, and abs.

I hope it turns out how you would like.

Lunges & squats with weights.  Also try jumping rope and swimming laps if you have access to a pool.

Thanks guys ^_^ I plan on losing 14 pounds... but I know that even thin girls have cellulite so thats why I don't think just losing body fat is going to get rid of it.

The info in the wikipedia entry isn't bad.

Also, I've found this article from the journal of cosmetic dermatology helpful (re: caffeine and cellulite): June 2007 Evaluation of the effects of caffeine...

I've seen (but not tried it personally) good results with Mesotherapy. Research the person doing it. It is v. expensive; 1500K or so.

Personally I took some free advice from a good surgeon, and find it works pretty well over time: kneading and squeezing the problem area like bread dough for about 5-10 minutes a day works to break up the polymerization of the connective tissue beneath which causes the lumps and bumps. Make sure there are no varicose veins there first.

has this really worked for you? can you see a difference?

Yeah, seriously, it has (the kneading like bread dough method). The doctor who tipped me about it said it'd work well for me because I exercise a lot so have strong muscle tone and drink lots of water. If you don't you won't see very good results.

It takes some time, and I REALLY have to do it every day, and knead it pretty hard for a good amount of time, but I've seen decent results. It took me about 3 weeks or so. Basically it is like Endermologie, a common treatment for cellulite. I've read about this kneading method in various books by reputable sources as well.

ugh-- if someone would do the rubbing of my cellulite for me on my legs (front & back) I would be happy- bc i want to vomit every time i see it-  let alone touch it--

if it works though- i would try it-- do you have any references on it? i just saw something on this on FitTV-- some lady trademarked it-- can't remember her name though...

Link to a YouTube Video that has an example. Check out some of the other video's on the right...just to help you visualize some of the suggestions people area making. Heads up, these exercises BURN but are well worth it. My butt lifted and smoothed out significantly doing similar exercise.

Edit: I'm only suggesting you review lower body toning examples...after I made this suggestion, I saw some questionable footage in same video list. Viewer discretion advised!

kneading reminds me of yrs ago (when I looked my best), I was going to a gym that had vibrating belts we stood inside of and put on our rears.  Also they had a roller machine and we'd sit on, then kneel and put our upper thigh up against.  The theory was it woudl break up the fat so exercise will burn it off.

Until I lost my 29# (size 18)my rear had big dimples that would show thru certain clothes.

Now with losing (size 12-14)and more exercise I recently realizing it's gone :)

I'm sure you'll be able to see better results also.

Most of my exercise has been power walking.  Also riding a bike.
Have you tried body brushing??  I have found it to be good, especially on my thighs!!  Here is a link:

Hope this helps

I don't have them at hand :( ...  I've moved and they're back in storage. Basically, apart from what a doctor personally told me,  I'd read one of those books on aging /looking good by a famous dermatologist like Murad, and he recommended the "bread-dough" method based on the results he saw in his patients.  He referenced a crabby old masseuse with hands of steel who'd knead and prod her clients' cellulite into submission.

I did some more research and found a good survey published in a medical journal of what's known and been done thus far on cellulite.

He seems to suggest that there are two different types of cellulite - the kind that dimples on its own, and the kind that only comes out from hiding when you put pressure on it like when you're sitting. I believe he suggests that the kind that dimples on its own results from a weak dermis / skin layer so the massage may even worsen it. He seems to suggest that use of retinol on that type of  cellulite is promising in that it'll strengthen the dermis.

Anyway. On a weird note, apparently some people have it on their heads.

trampolining or using a mini trampoline? jumping like this apparently drains your lymph glands and hence your cellulite will reduce!
cycling is quite good too.

Thanks everyone!

BTW, I've heard REALLY good things about a new v. expensive treatment called Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT) on cellulite. Seriously miraculous. You can Google it and watch the videos you find on YouTube.

Thanks ^_^

I'm sorry - but as a native New Yorker - I have a habit of speaking my mind. There is so much bullsh#t out there about cellulite - and 99% of it is pure sales trash - or ignorance in the media..

I'm fortunate to not have much of it - even after 3 amazing children. But my mother in law used to have is VERY badly - and she tried everything, blowing a few grand in the process - only to be left with the dimples getting worse and worse. She was referred by a friend to one of Joey Atlas websites and she is on cloud nine - because she's finally starting to see major improvements. She wore shorts this past summer for the first time in 9 years.

He has a cellulite specific home exercise program - I dont remember the site offhand because I use some of his other programs - but if you need, Ill be glad to get that web address from my mother in law if you want it.

Take care,

Tina

How can I make walking fun?

You have to find a way to make exercise fun or else you won't do it. If you walk indoors on a treadmill, I recommend moving outdoors into the fresh air... Read more
