Cellulite AFTER weight loss?

Quote  |  Reply

Exactly a year ago I began calorie counting, and went from ~128 in Fall2008 to ~116 in February2009. Between February and now, I have gained back about 6 pounds. I am now 5'6, 122, in my mid 20s...I think this is a healthy place for me to maintain....

the problem is, in the past several months I have noticed tons of cellulite on my thighs. I NEVER had a problem with this before.

Do you think it is my up and down weight / possible muscle loss from my reduced-calorie weight loss -OR- just a fact of my age......or something else.... ?

Also, do you think it is too late to get back to my previously toned self? I'm so torn because I am a smaller size but I feel like I look so much worse ina bathing suit. :(

Cellulite has nothing to do with your eating, weight or exercise and everything to do with your genetics, and age.  Its not something you can fix.

yeah, it's true. i hate to break it to ya but it's just all hormones and genetics. i have it too, but really - everybody has it. and girls are more likely to have it than guys. but losing fat and muscle toning can really help. also, drink lots of water.

have you started a new type of birth control?  the appearance of my cellulite increased drastically when starting my new pill which had higher amounts of estrogen. I asked my doctor about it and she switched me to a different form and its barely noticeable anymore, i guess excess estrogen can get trapped under the surface of the skin

Here's my experience:  I am 35 years old, just lost 65 lbs, and am back to the weight I was at age 25 (128lbs).  I have less cellulite on my thighs and bottom today than I did then.

The only difference? At 25 I was running, and now at 35 I'm walking for exercise.  I have no idea if this is what did the trick, or if it's just how I'm aging.

I'm only 21, 5'3", and even back when I weighed 110 lbs. at 17 years old I had cellulite. It sucks, but I've accepted it as a fact of life and that it's not going to go away no matter if I'm skinnier or heavier. It probably won't go away completely no matter what you do, but try not to worry about it too much! I'm sure you look great in a bikini regardless!
