I absolutely loveeee cereal I could eat it everyday of my life and STILL not get sick of it.. mostly cheerios and wheaties but occasionally i will go crazy and crave all sugary kinds like golden grahams, honey nut cheerios, banana nut cheerios and eat 3 or 4 bowls its soo bad, it usually happens when I'm bored, the part that really bothers me is I know its gonna happen and I'll do it anyway..ughhhh its so frustrating..did anyone else ever deal with this bad habit if so how did you fix it???
aw.....join the club!! Because I love cereal too! I just develop this habit when I come to USA, but thank God that my favorite is Kashi (original and crunch) and I love low fat raisin granola. I snack on them all the time. Right now, I'm fighting against binge eating and what I did was "putting them into a zip log bag". I usually put 1/2 cup or 2/3 cup into each bag and when I want to eat, eat just one bag and hide the rest in my dorm room closet!
Try it. it may works better. Sometimes, I even eat them with milk because it makes things look more like a meal and therefore -- make me feel extremely full.

I HAD TO STOP BUYING IT.
If you don't buy it you cannot eat it.
Now 5 years later I can have PB in the house without any abuse!

HOW DO THEY MAKE IT SO DELICIOUS!?!? i can't keep it in the house! whenever i visit my parents, it is the first thing i go for that night (i tend to "treat" myself the first night when i go home because they have stuff that i refuse to buy at my house) and without fail, the first thing i hear in the morning from the kitchen is "where did all the cereal go!?? i JUST bought a box!!!"

it hardly even matters the cereal! its the same for bran flakes as it is for yummy-sugary-treat-cereal. i find them equally delicious and irresistible! i would lovee to be able to just have one bowl (or one serving..hell..even 2 servings!) because then i know that i could enjoy having cereal more often. though a single bowl/serving doesnt even come close to filling me up, regardless of its irresistibility, so its personally a bad choice for a meal. in fact the only cereal i've found that can satisfy my hunger adequately is all-bran [the pellet kind, not the flakes] (or fiber one), or shredded wheat, though i still have to have 2 bowls to feel like i ate anything..
sometimes i challenge myself to buy a box and only have a little. or i'll even say "okay, as long as i dont eat more than HALF the box today.." needless to say, it never works..i ALWAYS end up eating the entire box in ONE day (no exaggeration!), without fail. maybe one day we can learn cereal control :) ugh... now i want cereal. lol
oh and funny you mention PB nancy, cause thats really my only other weakness! i would easily go through a jar in a week. and in order to feed my PB habit and not go IMMENSELY over cals, i would cut out MEALS for the day so that i could have my fix of the nutty stuff..thats when i knew i had to stop buying it!

Quaker's wheat puffs are great for cereal lovers! It's 50 calories per cup (no, that is not a typo)! It's a little bland, but I sprinkle a little splenda and some chopped strawberries on top, and it is fantastic =)
I would eat cereal all the time if I didn't love so many other foods (like oatmeal mmm). My favorite it Total whole-grain flakes. I also like frosted mini-wheats.
i used to do the same thing...keep pouring and pouring...now i measure out exactly the serving size and that's it.
i just have all bran buds for my morning fibre and i mix it with yogurt...
1/3 cup all bran buds + 1 low fat yogurt = 80 cal + 40 cal = 120 calories! add some fresh fruit and have it with egg whites and you have a super filling breakfast for under 300 cal
I find this works for me b/c all bran buds taste good with yogurt and it's really slow to eat....but they aren't so tasty on their own.
ahhh!! everytime i buy a box of cereal that doesn't taste like cardboard, i finish the whole box the same day :(
i've had to add it to my list of "cannot have in the house" foods.
i love cereal! it used to be my binge-attack kind of food when i didnt allow myself to eat it. It is not realistic for it to not be in my house, i live with my family still...so now i eat it in moderation or snack on it whenver i want and just make sure it fits into my calories for the day.
however i deff have off days (like today) when i just cant stop eating and feel helpless :(
