I eat Special K w/ the red berries but i pick out the red berries lol

i try to eat hot cereal like weetabix and oatmeal because (im a cereal addict) its harder to go back for more.

the people here love love love Kashi Go Lean cereal...i've never tried it (i think its too expensive and too high in calories) but im sure it tastes really good.

umm probably the best advice is to look for cereal with high fibre and low sugar content =)

I love the Kashi Heart-to-Heart Wild Blueberry...also the Special K with freeze dried strawberries.

Ones with bran in them ae really filling (to me), so fruit and fibre/raisan bran. Or porridge is nice and filling, and nice because its hot. Or Shredded Wheat, because you can have it hot or cold too. Or granola type stuff?

Hows that?

Ugh, I think Kashi is really nothing to brag about.

The best cereal to eat is one that isn't loaded with sugar, one that you really enjoy, and one that you can control your portions of.

All bran is always good. I noticed sainsbury's 'high fibre bran cereal' is actually better than the brand All Bran and it's cheaper too which is good :D
I like plain bran flakes personally.  I add Splenda to make them sweeter.  It's like Frosted Flakes, only with fiber and low sugar.

Beyond that, I'm with cellulitedelight on this one.  No need to eat twigs if you don't enjoy it.  Just pick a somewhat healthy cereal that tastes good and you're not likely to go through a box of in a day.
I like cereals with lots fo fiber because it keeps me full longer. oatmeal is a fav for hot meals.

I'm confused.  Why don't you just buy the regular Special K, then?  LOL

I don't mind Kashi.  I like the almond flax or the go lean crunch.  I also like Raisin Bran and mini wheats.  I don't eat it a lot, so it's a 'treat' for me.
I love Quaker Oatmeal Squares - I snack on them dry at work.

A cereal that is high in fiber will fill you up like kashi cereal.  It has I think 10 g of fiber in it and 13 g of protein....it is a good mix with some added berries and you are off to a great start.

I can't say what the best cereal is as I don't eat cereal, but high GI cereals should be avoided. Examples of cereals to avoid include:

1. Anything made for children (ie. Cocoa Puffs, Lucky Charms, etc). Way too much sugar.

2. Anything that has sugar as one of the first ingredients or that contains more than 10 grams per serving. 5 grams or less is optimal.

3. High GI cereals that seem healthy such as Special K and Weetabix. Both are highly glycemic despite the fact they have little added sugar. This is due to the fact they are so highly processed.

Go for low sugar, high fiber cereals. Shredded Wheat, Kashi Go Lean, and plain Cheerios are good choices.

The most nutritious cereal of all is old fashioned oatmeal. Low GI, high fiber, practically no sugar, and extremely filling.

I eat oatmeal most mornings. Steel cut oatmeal is the best type to slow down the insulin response.  Among packaged cereals I like http://www.naturespath.com/   Whenever choosing a prepacked cereal be sure to check the ingredients list and choose the healthiest for your specific needs, making sure if comparing packages to ensure they are using the same measurement.

Thanks for everyones input. Next time at the store I will buy oatmeal and give it a try.
I do not eat cereal as a meal but rather add it to cottage cheese and my oatmeal. That being said the only cereal I eat is fiber one.
I love Kashi Go Lean, although I treat myself to some Life with a little ground ginger on top - Life actually has very litle sugar.
I love All bran with some splenda and cinnamon in it. anything with high fiber and low calories! cause we ALL  know we dont eat 1 cup or 3/4 of a cup like the "serving" so when i eat twice as much, im still not cheating!
I like mixing "regular" cereal with Fiber One.  The Fiber One adds health and fiber, but it doesn't taste so great by itself, so I mix it with Cheerios or Post or something.

I don't like plain oatmeal and can't stand artificial sweeteners, so I get the strawberries and cream instant oatmeal, that way I don't add sugar, cream or butter (like I do to the plain oatmeal to give it flavor) and it is already set up in portions. And, since you have to cook them one at a time, it's a bit harder to go back for seconds.

I also eat honey nut cheerios. Again, plain cereals taste gross (to me) and I want flavor. honey nut is one of the few that I like without adding sugar.

Good luck in finding one that you like...you may have to experiment with combinations.
