I have a terrible time eating healthy cereals for breakfast.  They give me such terrible gas.  I work so I have to avoid the cereal.  I need to eat something for breakfast that I can take with me to my job.  Any suggestions on cereals that will not do that?  Any reason why this is happening?  Any way to eliminate it and still eat cereal?  I also have that problem with granola bars.  Help

i'm thinking....may not be the food but your colon.  have you tried gas-x or beano?  i don't have problem with cereal but granola bars do me a number.  I do drink soy milk and try to avoid most dairy.  cheese is the only thing i use and in small quanities. oh and organic butter in a controlled manner.  more i think about it check out the dairy thing.

ya know you don't have to eat breakfast food in the morning either. what do u eat at lunch?  does it give u gas?  really just throwing thoughts out there.

Marj could be right that it might be your colon.  My sister was the same until she was diagnosed by her doctor with coeliac problems and was advised to try a gluten free diet, which means she had to delete wheat flour, which is in a lot of cereals.  If your cereal is wheat flour based, try an oat based one instead.  For breakfast I make regular oatmeal, which I used to make with milk, but now I make it with water because I've gotten onto making Mango Lassi as a snack, and I do try to limit my dairy intake.  To make up for the lack of milk in my oatmeal/porridge I add a couple of drops of my favourite food essence and vary them each day.  Favourites are almond, coconut and vanilla. After the oatmeal is cooked I add a tablespoon of milk to make it look better!

Mango Lassi is a great fill-me-up made up as follows: 100g(almost four ounces) of Mango, blended with four icecubes, 3/4 cup of plain non fat yogurt, a sachet of your favourite sweetener and a quarter teaspoon of ground cardamom.  I love my blender........  Sometimes I substitute other fruits for the mango.

I agree about the blender drink. I've been making smoothies for breakfast lately. LOVE THEM. I have a Magic Bullet blender, so the drink can be stored, blended, and consumed in the same cup. I put some fruit or berries and protein powder in the blender cup the night before and put them in the freezer. Then in the morning, I put it in the microwave to thaw for about 30 seconds, just enough to loosen the fruit from the sides. I add a bit of milk and low cal/low fat yogurt and blend for about 10 seconds. I drink/eat this while I'm getting ready in the morning. My sister inspired this idea and she takes hers with her in the car while she commutes to work.
