Hi guys,
I am in love with cereal and could live on it forever. Butt... as we all know cereal is high in carbs and fat. I am trying to lose weight and I was wondering what cereals are low in carbs and sugar but high in fiber? If that even exists??? And what is the nuritional content of those cereals?
Please help me!
thanks!
Original Fiber One is always a best bet, 60 calories and 14grams of fiber per 1/2 cup with 0 sugar
Cerals are grains are carbohydrates. A low-carb cereal is not a natural thing. Try regular oatmeal. Rolled, whole oats are extremely nutritious, rich in fibre, virtually fat-free and very versatile. About 100 cals per dry ounce.
NB 'Carbs and fat' don't make you fat. 'Too many calories' make you fat.
You could also try Kashi cereal...
I like kashi golean crunch. It's a great cereal and I also use it as granola sometimes. :)
Plenty of cereals don't contain fat, and some only contain sugar from dried fruit, or no sugar at all.
Looking for a low-carb cereal is nonsensical, just like you wouldn't look for a low-protein steak. Like gi-jane points out, cereals are carbohydrates. If you want to eat less carbohydrates, eat a smaller portion. With that said, carbs can be nutritious and we need carbs for energy and also to help regulate mood and sleep patterns - never cut them out of your diet.
I'd suggest oatmeal, muesli, bircher muesli, raisin bran or other bran cereals. Look for brands with the fewest ingredients that are high in fibre and have little or no added sugar. Remember that sugar can be listed as cane sugar, cane syrup, molasses, sucrose, high fructose corn syrup, maltose, glucose, beet sugar, caramel, dextrose, fructose, honey, saccharose etc.
I eat kix with lightsoy milk and add alot of splenda. Kix isnt exactly healthy I guess but its low in calories so w/e
I like special K cereals my new favorite is fruit and yogurt with skim milk is I think 180 calories... which is good for me... it's still kind of sweet but I need that.

I would not have made it this far without Kashi cereals and a half serving of ff milk! Go Lean Crunch is my favorite - sometimes as a snack. But typically I takes half a serving of the Go Lean Crunch and then add another half of one of their other types, like Good Friends/Good Friends w/ Raisin (SUPER high in fiber). Also sometimes add a sprinkle of Go Lean Crunch into yogurt as a snack. I would freak if they ever discontinued it - nothing comes close:)!
thank you everyone! i will definitely take all the advice into consideration!
