Hey guys
I haven't lost a lot of weight recently, I can't understand why. Exercising and eating well....
The one thing I'm doing wrong is very occassionally snacking on cereal, just a handful here and there which i try to add to my calorie counting. And even though I add it into my calorie counting, i can't help thinking that maybe it is stopping me from losing?
Are there any foods that (even when calculated in calorie counting) seem to make weight loss stagnate for you? And is this even possible?
I really doubt that a few handfuls of cereal are going to throw you off. You could always try to measure them (for example, measure out one serving of cereal each day, put it in a baggy, and snack on that throughout the day, that way you know how much you ate).
You should give us more of your info, though. There are some common reasons on here I've noticed why people have trouble losing:
- not eating the "magic number" of calories (which seems to vary from person to person, and often takes some time to figure out... to aim for a deficit of 500 seems to work well for a lot of people). So this can mean you might be eating too much, or too little.
- hitting a plateau - which means you need to change something up, maybe try some different exercise routines
- you may be a healthy weight to begin with, in which case your body isn't going to make it easy for you to lose more weight! if this is true for you, you should probably consider exercises to help strengthen and shape your body rather than focusing on weight loss.
There is a lot of talk about different foods and their benefits or not, but the bottom line is, a calorie is a calorie. As far as nutrition and what satisfies your body's hunger, that's another story! 100 calories of candy bar is nowhere near as satisfying or filling as 100 calories of broccoli. Well, maybe more satisfying if you're on your period ;) but you get what I'm driving at.

Have you measured your body? I have found in the weeks that I'm not loosing on the scale I am loosing inches and usually belly and hips. I try to remember that when I go a week without a drop and I know I've done everything I'm suppose to do. Keeps me from getting down on myself.
