Ceyenne Pepeer

I've heard that spicy foods speed up the metabolism. I've also noticed that they sell ceyenne pepper in capsule for metabolism. Is this true or is this another one of those myths?

i have also heard this and am wondering the same thing..

I think they help with speeding up the GI system (I dont know for certain tho)

I do like Cayenne pepper on my eggs and tofu so I guess it covers my bases anyway.

I love cayenne on everything. It's my favorite spice. That would be interesting if it had fat burning benefits. I hope someone who knows how it works posts here!

It probably does speed up the metabolism a little but not enough to produce weight-loss.  However, spicy food is a great way to keep the digestion lively and the taste-buds interested!!

capsum(the stiff that makes peppers hot) speeds up your metabolism alittle I don't know what the pills would do, but too much capsum can damage your digestive system, so i would imagen that the pills don;t have any more capsum than the peppers them selfs.

One of the great benefits of cayenne pepper is that it opens the palate and makes any food more flavorful, a super substitute for salt or sugar.  It can be added with no noticeable change in flavor (usejust a pinch in almost anything you're cooking).  Try it.  You'll be surprised.

i'm not sure if it's what's working for me, but i eat cayenne pepper with half my meals, and i haven't plateaued since i started trying to lose weight. :3 (it keeps my metabolism going strong i guess?)

I admit, my love for the super-spicy foods is more that I love anything sugary or salty. Since moving to the states, especially living in the South west, spicy food is very easy to come by (Spicy food isn't a main staple in Norway)
I hate to admit it, but my admirtation for anything spicy had actually done some damage to my stomach lining for a little while - then again, I wasn't JUST adding a pinch of cayanne pepper here and there- I was putting in red pepper seeds, dark red chili powder, course-ground and fine ground pepper, tobasco, etc and adding it to pretty much anything.

I don't think adding a little bit of cayenne pepper is going to screw your digestive system over badly too much, but just don;t go overboard, (obviously). I don't know if it revs up your metabolism, but enough spicy food can make anyone work up a sweat, har har.

if you like spice...try mrs. dash southwest chipolte spice...

YUMMMM

I use it on everything!

~H~

I took cayenne pills a few years ago when I lost weight but I was also working out a lot so can't say if the cayenne had anything to do with it.  I tried it again recently and got HORRIBLE heart burn and an uncomfortable burning sensation during *ahem* bathroom activities.  Yikes!  I stopped taking it because I figured it was dissolving my digestive system from the inside out.

I'm a freak, i eat cayenne pepper sauce with every meal. :> Doesn't hurt and hasn't for the past 17 years.
