Chafing and heat rash? OMG.
Let me first say that I come here in desperation. I have never, so long that I can recall, had this problem.
I'm not a heavy person, but not a particularly skinny person either . . . about 5'8" and 64ish kgs (and in long-term recovery from an ED).
However, my legs just barely touch when I walk . . . just the top part of my thighs. I presume I've never had a problem with this because I just recently started wearing skirts on a regular basis. I also presume that most women's legs touch when they walk . . . am I wrong?
Anyhow. The combination of my thighs rubbing together, the crazy summer heat (this didn't occur in winter or even spring), and the wearing of skirts has my inner thighs red and throbbing and covered in pimple-like callouses. And is seriously painful.
Any advice? Should I use petroleum jelly or powder? Am I condemned to wearing pantyhose? Should I just lose some weight?
Thank in advance! ~Politica
I feel your pain. Everyone who has experienced this will sympathise immensely.
I tend to wear a culotte-cut slip if I know I'm going to walking for a while (they're made out of slip material but cut like baggy shorts). A lot of other people use cycling shorts under skirts.
Baby powder will help but you can also buy products that help - anti chafing gel etc.
Still feeling your pain!
Put anti-perspirant on your inner thighs (ideally a clear gel kind).
I swear to God, it's the only thing that has ever worked for me... and I have fat thighs. =)
hmm this interest me as well since i have the same problem. gels and such have never worked, and i used to wear shorts or leggings but it gets weird when they're too long or don't fit right. anyone have any good undergarment advice?! does spanx have something :'(

roflcopter that just made my day! guys are lucky they don't have this drama.. that's what havin' "thighs like what" will get ya.. :'(
Guys chafe as well. They get sweaty and their briefs/boxers can rub them raw in the same area.
I've found powder works the best.
hot days + long walks + inefficient underwear = fried scallions
My SO works construction type jobs and he and all his buddies powder up during the hot months.

as far as i know it's normal to have your thighs touch..mine always have, probably always will. Don't worry about losing weight because of that, especially if you're recovering from an ED. Just try some tricks that everyone has said til you find one that works for you!

I have the perfect solution for you! My friend introduced me to this and it's truly a miracle. Monistat makes an anti-chafing gel. It goes on like a gel but it feels like powder on your skin. Look in the personal hygiene section of your drug store. It comes in a tube. It really works and because it's a gel, it stays put compared with just using powder.
Website for you...
there's an atheltics type too, here's one brand ASICS
I had that and asked the pharmacy - they gave me a cream called Systral for skin irritations, worked like a charm. I'm sure you just need to ask them for something. I think it works on stings and burns as well and is quite cheap. No need to be in any discomfort life is hard enough!

Lmao. Not knowing you and just reading that leads me to believe that you are a very funny person =]
OP- don't lose weight, especially if you're in recovery. It's normal for thighs to touch on most women. I don't have advice lol but good luck <3

Now I've got the ugly picture in my head.
I rarely wear skirts, so I don't have this problem, but, Spanx and Victoria's Secret both sell boy short-style undergarments that might help. They cover down to above mid-thigh, so they wouldn't be visible even under a very short skirt....

Republican!
I went through this problem last summer. Yes, it's totally normal for your thighs to be touching even at a healthy weight.
I second using deodorant on your thighs. (make sure it's the clear gel kind to avoid messy powder residue on your clothing.) Baby powder is also great for after you shower.
Do not use any lotions on it, since lotion gives off moisture much like sweat it will just make the rash worse.
Good Luck! :)
