CHALLENGE!!! 4/10-8/31 Who can reach their goal?!?!
THIS THREAD HAS BEEN MOVED TO THE GAMES & CHALLENGES FORUM-THANKS
Reason: Locked per discussion with OP, as new thread generated in Games & Challenges forum. Thanks! http://caloriecount.about.com/challenge-reach-their-goal-ft137235
That's my assigned target date too!!!! :D
Technically my personal goal date is actually my birthday (07/18), but I have a feeling that's not gonna happen, and CC insists I won't hit my goals until 08/31. :P
I'm 23, and I'm 116.5 lbs looking to get to an even 100 lbs by then. I would join your challenge, but I doubt I could lose more than you each week. I have been losing quite slowly compared to most people on this site. :(
Hello Liz!!
I'm 23, and at a VERY ripe 215 (UGHHH). So I obviously don't want to lose all my weight by the end of august... how unhealthy would that be?!
But if you would like We can still challenge each other. two lbs a week versus one lb. who lost more.. who ate healthier and actually worked out etc. Who cheated on their diets *gasp* ... For I need a motivator other than my fiance. and someone who will keep it real... it's fun working with him. But he's one of those "i love you just the way you are" ... which is great and all.. but kind of counter productive to losing weight lol.
OOOH, I want in too! Im 139 and I WILL get back to 125..and I should get there by August per CC...
Ive been away from the gym for the past month due to my wonderful broken elbow..but Im started back on the treadmill starting monday...so im ready..I think it'll be fun to have a little challenge and motivation!!
Wonderful!! I signed on with Anytime Fitness today. I am so proud of myself. I have been doing so well!! I would be THRILLED if we could challenge each other!! That doesn't mean if one of us falls behind that you just quit. We are all only human, but that doesn't mean give up altogether! I will post my weekly weigh-ins every Sunday, it would be great if you guys could post yours. We'll announce the weekly winners on Monday at noon! Remember to drink lots of water, and to be firm, but not harsh on yourself. Take control. Congratulate your successes; I will be cheering for all of you. Forgive your set-backs, but with the resolve to be firm. It all begins today ladies, lets do this thing!!!!!
I had an apple, and two bottles of water for breakfast this morning. I intend to have a protein shake (GREAT APPETITE SUPPRESSANTS), an apple, carrots, celery, broccoli, and edamame for a snack. Nope, before you think it, I am NOT a health freak. Truly. I have the hardest time. It's not during the day I have problems, because I work ALOT. It's at home, when I'm bored. The boredom is what would usually do me in. So, I bought lots of edamame, to snack on. If you have the same problem, when you get bored, bet yourself on how much water you can drink in the day. Make a goal, and stick to it. If you reach your goal reward yourself with a small portion of some goody you've denied yourself.
Good Luck Ladies!!!!
Remember "YOU ARE IN CONTROL"!!!

It would be wonderful! You could just lose the amount that's healthiest for you! We're not trying to see who can get the skinniest, but who will challenge themselves and each other to move on to a healthier, more fullfilling lifestyle. I completely understand the counter-productive part. I need someone to be a pusher. Push me to be harder, when I attempt to stray, remind me of my goals. Remind me that every unhealthy thing I take in, though one may seem insignificant, they add up. They are the reason that we don't feel complete unto ourselves, they are the reason we don't feel as beautiful as we are. They are the reason our confidence isn't as high as it should be. It's to the point now where when I pass a McDonald's, I smile. Truly because every time I look at their food. I picture myself eating the fat. Just the fat and I imagine it going down my throat. The feel of it in my mouth and I almost gag. This may seem gross but it's what helps me. What are some methods you guys use to resist?

Kitty, don't worry so much about keeping up with losing the most, but losing at a steady pace. Even if it's only one pound a week or even a half a pound, as long as your not giving up, you're still in the fight!
P.S. If you guys are having a hard time getting started on your excersise routines or don't have the energy yet, try Yoga. Sun Salutations in the morning are helping me kick my coffee habit. What are you guys cutting out, and what are you replacing it with; whether it's an activity or a healthy alternative?? What are you guys weaknesses and how are you going to overcome them?? Let's help each other out!!!
Ive found if I drink all my water, it keeps me from craving sweets or to snack when Im bored...but my problem is, yes, I drink a lot of water in between my meals, but I still feel hunger rumbles...but Im not really hungry..Hard to explain...I really think its a mind thing! I love yoga and walking the treadmill at a very steep incline.. I use to do kickboxing and I really loved it..but since Ive moved here to GA, I dont have a gym partner to do fun stuff like that with..
Well!!! Sunday will be a hard weight in for me because it's my birthday week. and ppl are taking me out tomorrow lol. The food all day will be great and low cal, however it's the liquor that may do it in. Oh well. hopefully I don't go overbored, and that my week so far has been pretty good to stand on.
Me and my fiance joined a gym today :). there are 4 locations in our city we can use of the same gym, and Every three months we have to take a fitness test... and if we miss it we owe something like 37$ for every time it's missed. now THAT'S definately motivation to get it done!! lol. they even take pictures of you every three months so you can see any progress as well as all the written stuff they do.
My first fit test is on tuesday *eek* wish me luck ladies!! and I'll see you on here sunday morning to post any weight loss/increase/stabilization.
have fun ladies!!!
This sounds great!
moonlight-liz I have almost the same goals as you! I'm 20 years old and now at 152 with a goal weight of 120-125. I would LOVE to accomplish this by the end of the summer before my senior year of college. I'm living on campus this summer because I have an internship nearby (training beluga whales and doing behavioral research with them!) and for the first time I get to cook my own food! I'm really excited about that and my plan is to eat really really healthy. Also hopefully I can get to the gym more then. Right now my absolutely insane schedule at school is keeping me as far away from the gym as possible and I HATE it. I got some work out dvds though and I try to walk once or twice a day around campus, but getting to the gym has been near impossible. But thankfully just by watching my cals I've been losing pretty steadily lately!
Have a great weekend everyone! Good luck!
p.s. Is there a day we're going to weigh in on? I don't really care..I weigh myself every day anyway (I've found it makes me lose a lot more by being accountable every day).
Hi all,
I'm just a year younger than most of you at 19, going on 20 in November. I'm trying to train for a marathon on October 10, and in the process I want to lose about 20 lbs to get to around 105. I have trouble keeping my calories down, especially on the weekends..my sweet tooth is like no other. I think the only reason why I'm not heavier now is because I'm pretty good with the exercising part, not with the diet part. I hate my sweet tooth! I'm trying to curb it somehow but it hasn't been working.
I'm hoping to lose at least 15, at best 20 by August 31st.
Oh and about weigh-ins - there's a scale at the gym but I only weigh in with my clothes on..I feel a little self-conscious walking around naked, even if it is in the girls locker room. :P
I'm trying to procrastinate as much as I can for my midterm... :D
LOVE-- I agree completely with the hunger rumbling being a mental thing. I could eat and eat healthy food along with things that are high in protein and fiber and I still wouldn't feel satisfied. I'm almost use to it, I also battle with the sweet tooth. I try to always pay at the pump at a convenient store. It keeps me out of temptations way, I find. I always eat before I go grocery shopping. Always. Whether you stop at McDonald's for a fruit and walnut salad or take along carrots and celery or puffed rice cakes. If I go grocery shopping hungry, or empty handed.... it's a bad idea... but to go hungry AND empty handed..... big no-no.
Pink--I'm sure you are very proud of yourself this morning. Remember, you're human. Be proud if you withstood all of those high calorie foods. Drinking lots of fluid or cranberry juice will help to wash those toxins out. Do not feel bad. I plan to veer off course on my birthday. Not by much but I live here in GA and I will be vacationing in Seattle, that isn't until October, but my best friend will be moving to the next step in her Army career and she'll have a small window off. We intend to hike Mt. Ranier (near her next base of operations) and go river rafting and enjoy the wildlife. As far as the paying if you don't meet your goal, I WISH I could find that program, perhaps my gym offers something to that effect.. that would be EXCELLENT incentive!!!
Ocean--Congratulations on your internship!!! It sounds like you are also at a very busy time in your life, we have to remember that being too busy to treat our bodies right means we'll pay for it two fold in the long run. lol I'd definitely have to say that gaining weight was MUCH MUCH easier than losing it. I use my lunch breaks and to wake up I do really light yoga, it helps to wake up. I find I sleep better and wake up with more energy since I've been practicing Progressing Muscle Relaxation, it's a little tricky at first, you have to really visualize the tension flowing from that area of your body.
EVERYONE- For the information we've all been waiting to here.... *DRUM ROLL*
Starting weight-- & nbsp; 156
Goal weight -- 124
Current weight -- & nbsp;147
I was 148 April 9th. so in four days I've lost 1.6 pounds. I don't count it as truly a week because I only go to the gym during the week, so I didn't have as much opportunity to excersise. I spent a large majority of the weekend running around and on sunday I hid eggs, and hunted them four times... my little boy (2) got upset when he couldn't find anymore so I hid them three more times and walked him around the yard. I only weigh myself at the gym so I suppose the sunday weigh in won't work. So, I'll leave it up to you guys either Mondays or Fridays. .. Monday's would ensure we be good on the weekend I think. But Fridays would applaud our successes. You guys choose!
hey all! i was hoping to join this little motivation ring.. my last one died out.. very quickly. :( i need some accountability and people that actually post more than twice in a group they join. hmph. i know its kind of late, but i would LOVE to join!
i'm 5'1" and weighed today at 120.. had kind of a ridiculous cheat weekend, haha. i'm supposed to reach goal (CC set it at 106 lbs) july or august.. let's do this!
Well!!! My first weight in lol. Still 215. I was down to 211 mid week.. but my birthday plans put me back up. Good thing my birthday weekend is over (and easter). Now I'm back on track and I even have my first fit test tomorrow. I'm super excited!! I know it's weird to be excited about being told how unfit I am... but it's motivation right? lol.
I'll do weigh ins on Monday's as well Liz. I didn't even WANT to glance at the scale on sunday... the night after my huge alcohol binge *eek*.
But it's all about getting back on track and staying that way!! Luckily there's nothign celebratory for me here until........june. Mine and my mans anniversary. And our moving day.. so i'll actually probably be more active that day than celebratory lol.
Next monday i'm gonna blow you all away with my loss :P
Welcome blink!
Liz- 1.6 in 4 days is pretty good a i must say!! Congrats!!
Alright well just a little update/monday weight in...I'm down to 150.2! Soooo freakin close to the 140s! I can't wait. Hopefully it'll be seen someday this week. I'm really finding too that weighing myself everyday is really helping to keep me on track. I know it's not for everyone and that you HAVE to keep in mind daily fluctuations, but I've been losing so much more by doing it daily. Being so close to the 140s too is now some major motivation to stay good this week. Hopefully I'll have time at some point to make it to the gym. Stay strong girls!
so this weekend i decided to binge for three days and undo all the good i had been doing.. and today my weight finally started to stabilize again (i'm not retaining as much water cause of booze and salty foods, lol).. and i weighed at 119.4 pounds. it still sucks though. i weighed 117 ish on friday and that's gone :( ... also, today i did a lovely job of binging on ice cream and peanut butter and toaster strudels. boo. back on the wagon tomorrow. i'm also going to try and work out.
ocean: that is SO EXCITING! you are sooooo close. it must feel good! :) i always find it's easier to stay on track when you're close to a goal and the numbers continue to go down. it's very motivating. i definitely weigh every day too. i almost can't keep myself away from the scale. i just get so curious!
pink: you and me are getting back on track and back into the game. let's show these ladies how its done! woo woo!!
wow... I have to admit i'm pretty upset. I had a pretty big post full of encouragement and motivation. and I accidentally navigated away from the page and lost it all. lol. Okay, I'll just condense it all and say:
Pink--Do not feel bad. Be glad that you didn't gain any weight and glad to see you getting back in the ring and keep fighting. If I eat one M&M I get a new ripple in my thigh. I understand the want to be pushed. I almost want someone to be mean. To be there yelling at me to be healthier. Sad, but true. We want someone to bring it to reality that being unhealthy is not okay. I am also glad that the holidays are far away. My 3rd anniversary is June 15th, how great is that? You are going to do wonderfully on your test and take the constructive criticism in stride and make the most of what they tell you I am sure. I can not WAIT until Monday's weigh in!!!
(On the funny side of things a girl just asked if the author of To Kill A Mockingbird was Harriet Tubman.. couldn't help it... I lmao)
Ocean-- You have lost two pounds already, that is amazing. You are a weight loss machine, keep up the fabulous work!!! As long as you remember not to be too harsh on yourself for daily fluctuations, I don't see why it would be a bad thing to weigh daily. Everyone has their own form of motivation, if it works for you I don't see a reason why you shouldn't continue. I am so ready to see you reach the 140's. I have all confidence that you will stroll right through them into the 130's but remember to continue celebrating your successes after you reach 149. Go for 145, then 139 and so on until you reach your goal. You are doing GREAT!!!! Keep us posted!!!!
Blink-- My first instinct is to remind you of your goals. But you are back on a positive track already so my help is not needed!! You are completely right about forums fizzling out. If someone falls behind, or decides they are too busy, everyone quits. I intend to be here for some time. I know my posts are more like personalized journal entries, but the way I see it I can get on here everyday and be all "GO TEAM GO" but I'm sure that would grow old rather quickly. Any quirky little obstacles you overcome, or anything you encounter, any advice or tips. There would be no point in keeping in touch with everyone if we only focused on our own successes. We're here to motivate each other as well as compete. Everyone has a strong sense of wanting to "keep up" with others, not get ahead, but to have someone to pace themselves against. I know you are going to be very happy with your weigh in on monday!!
I spoke with my trainer today and she told me to do a cardio exercise (jogging in place, jumping rope etc.) and get your heart rate elevated to 150 or as high as you can stand it, and keep it up for 20 minutes. Then you can cross train and it burns triple the fat. She also said that if you MUST eat bread, make it whole wheat. Do NOT eat any sauces. Mayonaisse is a BIG NO NO. If you must have a season on your sandwich try mustard or pepper. Hope this helps!!!
p.s. I had Quiznos today. A six inch veggie sub (which I cut into quarters and snacked on through out the day) on whole wheat, no dressing. I ate before I went to the gym. So perhaps it burned the black olives off. Well, I've got to get ready to close down my desk so I'll check back later!!!
*Moonlight
moonlight, you are very right.. if we only post our own info and never get to know each other and help each other out, what's the point? also.. what is actually considered cross training? i usually end up on the elliptical for an hour and then do some weights. very boring and cliche, but i have no idea what i'm doing in the gym!
i weighed 118.6 again today.. so i'm back to where i was (ish). i'm glad because that means i'm back on track and i can continue on my journey. hope everything is going fabulous with everyone! keep up the good work, beezies!
Blink--
My trainer always has me either on the treadmill or the elliptical for twenty minutes, then you can move to the areas of your body you want to work on:
- sit ups/crunches (stomach)-if they have a ball it works for your back muscles as well,
- lunges(thighs),
- butterfly machine(chest, shoulders, upper back muscles) or use dumbells and hold them out moving them in front of you and then back.
- twist machine(stomach, back, shoulders, upper arms) my favorite!! You can do this in a chair as well, with a medicine ball, weights, or just tensing your stomache muscles.
When you feel like you've done enough reps... do ten more. The areas I focus on are: lower back... ugh, vicious muffin-top, bleh. Thighs... did I mention I have a fondness for M&M's?, Stomach.... not that bad, just a little post-baby pooch. Upper arms.... no woman wants to wave and have her arms wave back.
Perhaps my workout regimen isn't for everyone but it seems to be working. I put on a shirt today that I haven't worn in more than two years. I am NOT going to even look at the scale yet. I am so very very tempted, but I figure If I look and haven't lost anything I may get discouraged, or if I've lost more than I think I may have an impulse to give some slack. I've taken half the morning to post this in between reports, customers and paperwork so I'm just doing to do the thing now and say, I go to the gym again at two, carrots, celery and a protein shake for lunch today. Good luck, ladies!!!
