changing room mirrors
they are so bad. i went into a lingerie store today to buy a bikini and there was one bright light in the middle of the ceiling shining directly down on me. i felt like i look so much fatter than ever before. i'm only 5'2''. i started at 123 and went down to 111 but now i've climbed to 113 as it's my TOTM...my hips always get chubbier when it's my TOTM does this happen to anyone else?
This sounds more like an issue with your self-image or body image more than.. the changing mirror itself.
if I run your stats through the BMI tool, I get a BMI of 20.7, which is in the healthy range. Even that 123 you mentioned earlier is within a healthy range
For how long have you felt fat?
You have a healthy BMI and weight..so know it's just the lights!

yeah maybe it is...but rdgatewood is right that all changing room mirrors are so bad! it's the same in makeup stores. why do they make you look so awful :P
hkellick: i only just felt 'fat' in the changing room. i know i'm healthy but would like to look slimmer. i have a very small frame so i can get away with weighing a lot less than other people my height i guess...everyone has their own hangups and mine are that my shortness and big thighs get emphasized in changing room mirrors :)
I've never noticed but maybe it's just cause I'm a guy. :) I don't spend much time in changing rooms anyways. :)
I may be weird for saying this, but I hate when change rooms have "skinny" mirrors.
I'm naturally really thin, so when I try something on and they've got the skinny mirrors, I can never tell if it actually looks good on me or if it's the mirrors. And on the other hand, if something looks like crap, I'm not sure if it's because the mirrors and stretching me out, or if it just looks like crap! This is especially true with mirrors for sunglasses... how am I supposed to buy sunglasses that don't make my face look skinnier if the mirror I'm looking in is already doing that?
I can't even say how much time I wasted in changerooms trying to figure out if they have skinny mirrors by turing my arm, or whole body sideways to see if it gets fatter if I more it from vertical to horizontal.

Where the hell were you shopping? I always find the mirrors at the store make me look drop dead gorgeous in stuff, and then I get home and see my own mirror and am like, "NOOOOOOO! GIVE ME THE OTHER MIRROR BACK, DAMN IT!"
wow, i never get that...oh and i was shopping in triumph! i thought changing room mirrors were notorious for being bad.
Yes! Which mirror is telling the truth?
I just went through this over the weekend. Everything I tried on looked like crap. The clothes that I wore to the store looked like crap. My hair color looked like crap. My skin, ug.
I did bite the bullet and bought a couple things. As I walked out I caught another reflection outside and I looked H-O-T! WTH?
I also look much taller and thinner in one of my friend's mirrors than any at my house. There are, however, mirrors in my house that I call "magic mirror" and "devil mirror" because of how they make my face look.
So I talked to a friend today about it. Because mirrors are so unreliable (as weird as that sounds) I'm worried that I think I'm fatter than I really am and I'll try to lose too much weight. My friend is awesome and agreed to tell me if she thought I was too thin.
