Changing to winter foods
This is my first fall/winter of really working to loss weight and i am finding it really hard to switch from the fresh fruit and veggies with light salads and grilling to the foods that seem to be "warmer" which equates to heavier and higher in calories. Baked Potato soup while yummy is so not calorie conscious!
Does anyone have any suggestions for keeping the 1350 calorie diet and still feeling that i am satisfied in the winter months??
Thank you!!
How about keeping the baked potato, but use ICBINB spray (I can't believe its not butter). Salt, pepper. Or salsa, or ICBINB spray and steamed broccoli... or some chopped chicken breast. You can sprinkle with a little parmesan, or bacon bits (just tally up your calories before you make this and don't go over your allowance)
The potato is not so bad, if you don't put all the sour cream, heavy cheese, etc. on it.
How about low cal hot chocolate? Baked fish (not my fave, but some like it)
experiment with your winter food for a lower cal version.
Maybe you can lower the calories in your tater soup. Use 2% milk. celery and garlic...baked potato, parmesan, broccoli....just watch those calories and be careful of portions.
I am thinking low cal ice cream with warmed up zero calorie chocolate topping (from Walden Farms for example)
All great notions! I think that because of this inability to change over from the lighter fare of spring/summer i have more than once tossed in the towel in the weight loss battle. It seems to be the one place i cant wrap my head around the food changes. Any further ideas are greatly appreciated!

Roasted vegetables are great, as are dishes made with winter squash, which is very low calorie. Soups are my go-to meal is the winter though! A bowl of soup is a really satisfying and usually low-calorie meal, great with some bread or even a little bit of grilled cheese sandwich! Veggie chili and white bean soup are my faves. Soups basically replace salads for me over the winter. I make a pot on Sunday and eat it for a meal a day, usually.
Oh, and you know what I like? I take my low cal left over meats and veggies for a few days and drop them into a thinned tomato soup... Mmmm. Warm and yummy, low cal and warm in your tummy.
I put all my little bits of left over veggies and meat into a zip lock in the freezer and once a week or so make a soup.
Why do I get bad cramps after I eat?
Suspect lactose intolerance when abdominal cramps are a problem, especially after breakfast when milk products are consumed. Lactose... Read more
