Which decade had the absolute best music? Was it the jazz eras of the 20s and 30s? Was it early rock and roll of the 50s? Classic Rock of the 70s? New Wave in the 80s? Alternative in the 90s?

the verve arent one of my faves, just trying to think of examples of britpop that you all might have heard of. so i can fight the 90s corner!

The 80's - but that might be because it reminds me of my mispent teenage years.

Claire I just have to say that I adore that song. The end when Nash is singing in garbled Spanish is my favorite.

Also, Helplessly hoping is fantastic...so fantastic that it is being turned on as we speak.

My dad loved the Beach Boys, my mom loved the Beatles, Billy Joel, Elton John... and Barry Manilow and John Denver.
Of all those bands, I don't like Barry or John Denver.

In terms of musical innovation, my vote goes to the 1960's.  It's amazing what a few mind-altering substances can do to popular culture and creativity.

My anatomy professor looked like barry manilow...Its a little creepy to watch Barry Manilow genderly teach you how to dissect a body.

Psst - HK - I actually have a Barry Manilow CD - he's singing with the Big Bands - so its more 40's music than anything.

SC is in nigh ecstacy.  A co-worker is loaning first 5 (And possibily, if he has it, the sixth) Harry Potter books on CD.  W00t.  They will be ripped to Sansa before the night is over.  Woot woot.
