Vietnamese Refreshing Sweet Dessert

Recipe Ingredients for Che Sam Bo Luong

14 oz gingko nuts
14 oz longans, dried
2 piece dried white/snow fungus
20 prunes, dried
1 lb sugar
1/2 cup seaweed
6 cups water

Recipe Directions for Che Sam Bo Luong

  1. Wash dried prunes. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add prunes in boiling water and drain right away.

  2. Soak white fungus in cold water for 10 minutes and rinse very well. Drain and de-core fungus. Cut into desired length/pieces.

  3. Soak dried longans in cold water for 10 minutes and rinse very well.

  4. Soak seaweed in warm water for 15 minutes and rinse very well. Cut into desired lengths.

  5. Add 6 cups of water to a big pot and bring to a boil.

  6. Add sugar, gingko nuts, and prunes into pot. Cook until prunes and gingko nuts are soft on low heat.

  7. Add seaweed and white fungus. Bring pot to a boil on high heat.

  8. Add longan and turn off heat.

  9. Add more water to lessen the sweetness if desired.

  10. Serve cold or hot.

  11. Serving size is about 1/2 cup.
