So I'm in college which means I don't have a whole lot of money to buy heathy but cheap snacks.  My biggest problem that I am facing is that I get hungrey while I'm at work and so I snack there because there is a consessions stand (I work at the boys and girls club) so everything is packed full of calories and everything else I shouldn't have.  I'm looking for good alternatives that wont put me in a bind.  As often as posible I try and take fruit from the cafateria but that is always a hit or miss when it comes to good ones.  I will take anything that will help and thanks in advance!!!

If you can afford an occassional cookie, look in the Hispanic section of the supermarket for Goya guava wafer cookies and Maria cookies.  They are only .89 a package here and there is a generous amount in them. They also have several different kinds of crackers for a lot less than the regular brands, and they're good too.  Sometimes you have to look in places you don't expect.

Is there any way you could take some dry cereal from the caf?  Cereal makes a good snack.  Another good one is popcorn.  You should be able to get an air popper inexpensively.  Don't buy the kind in bags.  If you see Smart Pop microwave packages on sale, they are not too bad price wise.  But the big savings comes with popping your own.

Watch for produce sales at your local stores.

If you are willing to take a few minutes to peel and cut them, carrots are usually pretty cheap. The "baby cuts" are more expensive, but whole carrots aren't bad.

Sometimes "soy crisps" are on sale.

Finally, I find if I drink a LOT of water and eat a lot of fiber I feel full. (Um, not a great plan if you are limited on breaks, though.) So I buy a box of Kashi go lean for $3.00, eat a cup of that, drink a ton of water, and I'm good for awhile.

I used to take Luna Bars to work with me.  You can find them on sale at most large grocery store chains for like $1 each.  They are a healthy alternative and compliment a 4-5 meal per day diet.

I dont know about there but in UK it not expensive to buy Pretzels! I love snacking on them.
