for the past 8 days, i have been on a 200 cal diet eating only spinach, cucumber, yogurt and chicken. If I have ONE day where I can eat whatever I want, would it affect my weight loss? i'm 5'3 and between 105-110 i think. I'm not sure b/c i haven't weighed myself for a long time.
I just want only ONE day to eat what I'd like and go back the next day. Will this boost my metabolism and help me lose more weight? I don't really have problems eating this little, since I still have energy and I don't starve. I sleep good at night.
Would this be ok? or would I get fat?
I don't want to hear how bad this is. I know the effects. I figure it can be balanced out with a cheat day anyway, since I consider a cheat day a "binge": meaning not just a single meal, but an all day fiesta of bad foods.
Good or bad don't really mean much to me, what your diet is is just stupid.
I mean, it's downright dumb. 200 cals? Heh. Your health is your health, but you're not going to lose weight that way and keep it off. It's like if you tried to earn money by just taking loans out over and over again. You'd have more money for a short period of time, but that doesn't really mean anything.
You will get fat to some degree, whenever you start eating normally again. Sorry, that's how it works with 200 cal diets. And the longer you do it, the deeper the hole you're digging for yourself gets. If you go back to normal now, you can get off with minor damage. Wait too much longer and you'll not only get either fat or anorexic, you'll rack up some irreversible organ damage.
If you go for an all-day fiesta of bad foods, you'll actually manage to get fat while losing muscle. Your body will be saving every morsel of fat at all costs, so a cheat day will just be a horizontal expansion period.
Either way, 200 cals is not the way to lose weight. Rethink it; sooner the better.
If you read a post like this from someone else wouldn't you worry for their health? You would probably advise them to maintain their current weight, maybe add 10 lbs, up their calories, and add definition with exercise. It's easy to find the fault in other people's logic and turn a blind eye to our own. Maybe because we THINK we know our own limitations and THINK we can control the situation? Either way, you are certainly worth the concern you would feel for a stranger. Fuel your body and respect it before this progresses much further. It's a dangerous path.
well what if I upped it to 500 cals today? would I still gain weight from it?
200 cals a day??? Thats like a 1/2 piece of chicken breast and a cup of yogurt. You may lose weight now but guess what, once you eat normally, you will gain all or most of that weight back...and it won't be muscle weight, it will all be fat cause your body will be in a conservation mode. I am not sure but I think you are underweight or close to it for your height. Forget your diet sweetie, just practice a clean eating lifestyle. Don't count calories, just eat healthy...you don't need to lose any more weight
Try this link:
http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/
Basically, this calculates your BMR-the cals your body would need to keep you alive if you were comatose. This is the minimum your body requires. There's no way on God's green earth you could eat this much and gain weight-it's a physical impossibility. Plus, if you actually burn ,say, 500 cals a day in your daily activity, you could still eat those cals each day and never gain an ounce.
You need to take a leap of faith and give your body what it needs. It won't punish you for it.
On the plus side, the food you're eating is very good for you. You just need more of it, plus some whole grains, nuts(good fat for repairing your body), and maybe some fruit. Good luck!
200 calories???
women are supposed to have at least 1,200 calories a day and for men it's 1,500 calories.. anything less than that is unhealthy.

Yes, Bennyboy5 you are right .......... and that is the minimum for the organs to run correctly, under that and you are at risk for many complications......malnutrition, electrolyte imbalance ,
Hyponatremia (related to "water-loading") - as stated above, electrolytes are essential to proper body functioning. Drinking too much water (more than eight, eight-ounce glasses in less than twelve hours), can cause Hyponatremia (not enough sodium in the blood), especially in someone already malnourished or dehydrated. Hyponatremia can cause fluid in the lungs, the brain to swell, nausea, vomiting, confusion and even death.
Muscle atrophy to name a couple

I don't think you need to diet at all. 5'3" and 105-110 lbs is spot on. You're suffering for no reason.
Anorexia will cause your body to slowly destroy itself. Seek help. This thread shouldn't be open anymore.
