and took a peek at the scale this morning.

176lbs.

Yell

8 weeks now.

I'm so angry at my stupid scale that I could just.....

I dunno.

I am going to beat this plateau -- mark my words.

this has become my personal vendetta/goal/mission.

in 15weeks, I have managed to lose only 3lbs.

yet I look like I've dropped another 10lbs -- honest -- hubby, my daycare parents, neighbours, etc are all telling me I look smaller, trimmer, have a definite waist now.

stupid scale.

it's just a number.

a scale only measures your weight.

it doesn't measure your capacity to love, your ability to be an amazing mommy, a great friend.

*deep breath in*

*deep breath out*

fark the scale.  I'm going to continue doing what I'm doing.  I cannot believe how great my body feels!

today was just a peek.  tomorrow's my actual weigh in day.  and I'll be ready.

Cool

You are SO right....the scale is JUST a number....it does NOT define who you are!!  I get very fixated on the number too and that can be depressing so continue doing what you've been doing...working out, eating well...and accept those compliments and remember them!
As much as the number justifies dieting, just overall a healthier lifestyle makes me feel good! I love feeling sexy and healthy! Its so worth it, no matter what the scale says!

thx lysee and christina Laughing

I just posted new pics in my gallery -- a comparison of july 11 and today -- lemme know if you see a difference or if it's all in my plateau-fogged-up head!  thanks

Yay!  It's my favorite fellow obsessive compulsive picture taker!   I always take like 6 at a time and choose the one I look THINNEST in.

Oh my GOSH tamji!   LOOK at how much smaller your midsection is.  You are so inspirational... and amazing...  The changes in your face just CONTINUE!!!!

I care about the scale number, too... as much as I tell myself "la dee da... doesn't matter... who cares... I know I look better... I know I feel better..."  But it is about losing "WEIGHT"... at least that's what society has us believe...

soooo... STUPID scale... STUPID society... You look HoTTTTTTTTTTT lady!!!!  Kick the scale once for me.  It clearly doesn't know you've lost A  LOT of something... and hopefully gained some self esteem in the process...

and it WILL move eventually... it can't hold out forever just to spite you.

Congratulations SINCERELY on keeping up the good fight regardless of the fact that the scale is not yet willing to surrender... it may have won this stupid battle... but your war is already won.

:-)  (One of these days someone is going to PUNCH me on these forums for excessive perkiness!)

Focus on how you feel, especially how great you feel when someone tells you they think you've lost weight.  I just looked at your pics from January and then June - it's a real difference!  You are doing great just keep it up and remember that it won't happen overnight. Continue to do all of the right things. Your body just has to adjust, sometimes it takes awhile before the loss will continue.  I do cardio 4 days a week 30-45 minutes and I find that when I start to see a plateau if I add a few more minutes of cardio to each session it really makes the difference, i.e. my body has to work a little harder to see results because I'm gradually getting in better shape.

LMAO @ compulsive picture taker   (it's a good thing you can't see how many pics I blew away before I chose those two ha ha ha)

reenbean - what are you doing for your cardio?  I have an elliptical trainer.  this week I've been keeping my speed at or above 15, and I moved the resistance from 3/4 to 6/7 -- will resistance help with the plateau?  I usually do a minimum of 20mins on it, every day.  plus I do pilates, dumb bells, and I have a healthrider -- so I alternate those, but do the elliptical or stationary bike every day.

tamj... have you tried HIIT on the elliptical... sometimes that will break a plateau...  Do like five minutes at your normal resistance... and then CRANK IT UP... to like 11 or 12 for a minute and a half... and keep pushing as hard as you can for those two minutes... then bring the resistance back down...and repeat... that can really rev your metabolism and break a plateau.

A personal trainer also told me to take like a week off and do nothing but really light stuff... but I haven't been able to make myself do that yet.

thanks tex!  actually I did try the HIIT on my elliptical for 2 weeks, but nothing.  I would do the first 5mins at 3/4 and then crank it up to 8 (highest level) for 2 mins, then back down again.

I haven't been able to make myself take a week off either......yet.  too afraid I'll go back to my couch-potato days!

man I've come a LONG way since Jan -- the thought of just SITTING AND WATCHING TV makes me feel all jittery and just plain oooooogy.  can't do it anymore.

I'm actually taking tonite off.  I've had tons of water today, lotsa good healthy food, cals are where they should be.....who knows.......?

thx again everyone in c-c land for listening to me bitch and whine again.

you gals and guys RAWK.

xoxoxoxoxo

I peeked at your pics...I can totally see a difference! Especially in the picture of you from the side, showing the change in your midsection. Keep it up! As texasteach said, your weight loss journey has been very inspiring!

FWIW, I plateaued in June-July and I was forced to lower my exercise level and frequency for 10 days (I was out of town  and  didn't have access to my gym). I crashed through the plateau as a result. I dunno if it will help you, but I read a long time ago that sometimes changing one little thing in your diet/exercise regimen will help.
And I was looking forward to being able to answer: "Well I hope it was with Matt Damon because I just saw the latest Bourne movie and MAN is he hot!"

But, as always, the thread turned out to be about weight. ;)

tami - I try to maintain my cardio at 5 days a week, 30 - 45 minutes at a time. Every other day I do strength training or pilates.  Elliptical trainers are great since my knees always bother me with anything else.

Try upping the resistance, I think that's more important than speed (i.e, you can go fast at low resistance and you aren't challenging your muscles).  I would also aim for a minimum of 30 minutes of any cardio activity, even if you need to gradually build yourself up by adding 5 minutes each time.  This is what I've always heard, anyway, and I think also the health recommendation (30 min of moderate activity). You can also trade off and do a lower intensity workout for a longer period of time - walk for 1 hour, instead. I do that when I'm feeling low energy.

Do you have any way of measuring your heart rate?  When I worked out at home, I had no idea of knowing if I was 'pushing' myself. Now that I'm at a health club, I can make sure my heart stays above the 'target' rate for cardio training or fat burning for my entire session.  I really noticed a difference!

Tami, i just checked out your pics. there i can see a huge difference in the body shots. and your face is slimmer too. keep up the good work.   as for the scale, maybe it needs a vacation - don't fret too much, check back in a couple of days.

congrat ! your looking good!

SurprisedI LOST A POUND!!!!!!!!!!

my scale gave me 175lbs.

I checked it 5 times.

then I woke hubby up from a sound slumber at 6:30am to come check.

I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

reenbean- I swear it's from upping the resistance.  my resting heart rate is 72bpm.  I've been able to maintain my heart rate thru my sessions at over 120bpm, getting up to 130-135bpm when I really push myself.

I love C-C!  I never could have made it thru the last 15weeks without all the support, knowledge, and just plain LOVE of everyone on site Laughing

And remember, you are building good muscle which takes up less room per pound than fat does.

Keep it up!!!

OH tamji!  I just knew it!   I felt it!   I SWEAR I did... YAY... the roller coaster should be done teetering at the top now!!!  Sometimes kicking the scale helps *lol*... I was looking for a great scale article I saw the other day about how our brains sabotage our bodies and make us hold onto weight... and you just have to wait it out!  You did it!

*snoopy dance time*****

*shakin her 1-lb smaller booty*
You know what?  I don't bother with scales at all.  Besides the fact that all scales seem to give a different weight for me, they also aren't a very good judge of your body shape/mass.  I just stick to a measuring tape; it's always accurate and works for all body types.
Winkawesome point, doc!  thanks!
